That's true I suppose, but I still prefer to see what I'm getting into before I take the leap. I've lost faith in most developers now a days since they usually throw out crap for consumers to buy and the Wii has severely burned me in that area.
I know how to judge between shovelware and a really good AAA title a little bit, but most of those AAA titles are so obscure and hidden away with the crap games you never know whether your picking up something worth your time or an absolute pile of rubbish.
Again, I know what you mean. That's why I put a lot of effort into keeping up with gaming news on smaller sites like this one so I can find out about those obscure games. Going with your gut doesn't always mean being uninformed. But in the endm you gota do what works for you. If reviews work for you, then that's good for you. If going with my gut works for me, good for me. So long as we both end up with games we enjoy, it all ends well.
@Mickeymac: I agree. People LOVED Pushmo, I thought 'twas a waste of $7 honestly.
Aye, but did you come to this conclusion before and after you played it? I know for me, I quite enjoyed Pushmo, but I knew I would before I even played it. By contrast, I knew I wouldn't enjoy Golden Sun, but all the praise it got made me curious, so I got it, and despite my best efforts, I never came to enjoy it.
I thought I was going to LOVE it, I ended up getting frustrated.
That's most likely the opposite, then - your gut was wrong. What about when you first saw it, if you can still remember that far back?
@MickyMac: I remember wanting to get it because it was a new puzzle game by a second-party.
Ah. Well that's just plain disappointing. Well, now you know you shouldn't get puzzle games from Intelligent Systems, then. So it all works out in the end, especially since it was really just $7 instead of a lot more.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)

first time I see someone who didn't like Pushmo beside myself!
that's when I learned to never trust reviews by others, if I like the looks of a game I'll get it and try it myself, same goes to MK7 and SM3DL, I'm trading them in soon.
Glad to see I'm not the only one, Pullblox is one of the most overrated download games ever!
I normally get 1 or 2 games a month. I often get games long after they come out but if I sometimes I get a game on or near its launch. If I decide that I'd like to get a certain game in a certain month, I will go to all 3 game stores in town and HMV and if I don't find it in any of them, I'll go to the internet to find and if its an expensive rare game, I'll keep searching until I find it for a decent price. If its a GBA or GC game, there's only one store that I can check before going online.
I rarely have impulse buys but sometimes I'll just decide on a day (or I'll plan to get a game closer to the day that I'll get it than I normally do) that I'd like to get a game but I'll know what it is. Sometimes I'll go to town and decide on getting a game for a particular console without knowing what the game is but I'll always have a selection of games in mind and when I see a game/some games from that selection in a shop, I'll get it. This lead to a tough decision between Resident evil and Little King's story once and I went for LKS but I was regretting it as I went home thinking about how the remake of the first Resident evil is regarded as one of the best on the series but when I played LKS, I realised that I had made the right decision. That wonderful game is the best third party game on the Wii IMO. I also got it for a very low price which was £4.98.
At the moment I'm buying a lot of games - I want to finish getting the DS and Wii games I'm interested in before they become hard to find and expensive. I'm almost there though!
After that I'll go back to concentrating on PC gaming, but I can't see myself buying a lot of games in the future - I don't really like where the PC gaming business is going with restrictive DRM and the like. My current PCs can play everything I own, so I'll likely start trying to finish my backlog.
I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.
My backloggery of 196 Unfinished games says it all... IMMA PICK UP MASS ATTACK NEXT!!!!
Also I decide to look at Famitsus review and the sales in Japan combined with my tastes kinda help me decide what to pick up and when
Digitaloggery 3DS FC: Otaku1 WiiU: 013017970991 Nintendo of Japan niconico community is full of kawaii! Must finish my backlagg or at least get close this year W...
