Everyone likes getting games. You go to the store spot the new or used game and you just have to have it. How often does that happen to you? Do you buy games spontaneously or do you buy a game every time you beat one? When do you decide that you deserve to buy a game?
at least 2 times a week sometimes at crazy haggled down prices. Last week I went looking for a survival horror type game for the 3DS and found 'Dementium' for DS $15. I had that mofo talked down to $5 in no time, pretty good so far enjoying it. Picked up the rare Manhunt 2 for Wii was $30 talked down to $20
Whenever I have money. I get a lot from chores and so I put half towards a car and save the rest to spend on games. (I'm only 14, so I can't get a job and I don't need to worry about rent yet.)I'm trying to build up my Wii li rary with Nintendo Selects and some cheap third party games like Monster Hunter Fri and Red Steel 2.

@wavesta I don't mind some of the issues with 'D' takes it back to that old school survival horror feel and with a set of good headphones and the volume cranked best 5 bucks I have spent and I am going to track down 'D2' even if it isn't as good
Whenever I see a cheap game that interests me or looks good. Also it has to have a fairly good review, otherwise it's a definite pass, at least a 7 or higher, however if it's really cheap I might take the plunge if it's a 6, but no lower than that. I usually but my games whenever I feel like a new game to delve into or I just want to stock up my library of games to play. This is why the eShop usually gets ransacked by me on quite a few occasions.
However, most of the time I just wait it out for it to get cheap. I never really buy a game on release unless it's an absolute must-have title.
Meh, I never base my purchases off review scores. I usually go with my gut - the smartest reviewer I know.
I can never go with my gut... I've made some appalling purchases because of that. I only read reviews so I can see an explanation of the controls, whether it's a long story or short, bad story or good etc. I just want to see what the game is like and then I base my decision from there whether or not to buy it.
However I do like seeing the score, if it's quite high I'll read it, if it's a low score then no it can go away.

I know what you mean, and I'm not endorsing the practice heavily. Some of the worst games I've played were because I went with my gut. However, I prefer to look on the positive side of things. Personally, my gut has been right far more than its been wrong, and even when it is wrong, it's still the right decision, as it gives me an experience I can learn from, which in turn, makes my gut's decisions smarter as well.
@Mickeymac: I agree. People LOVED Pushmo, I thought 'twas a waste of $7 honestly.
Aye, but did you come to this conclusion before and after you played it? I know for me, I quite enjoyed Pushmo, but I knew I would before I even played it. By contrast, I knew I wouldn't enjoy Golden Sun, but all the praise it got made me curious, so I got it, and despite my best efforts, I never came to enjoy it.

first time I see someone who didn't like Pushmo beside myself! that's when I learned to never trust reviews by others, if I like the looks of a game I'll get it and try it myself, same goes to MK7 and SM3DL, I'm trading them in soon.
anyway, on topic: I used to get every game I could since I bought my 3DS, but now I decided to cut back to about 3-4 games per year and only those that I really want, plus eShop games every now and then.

That's true I suppose, but I still prefer to see what I'm getting into before I take the leap. I've lost faith in most developers now a days since they usually throw out crap for consumers to buy and the Wii has severely burned me in that area.
I know how to judge between shovelware and a really good AAA title a little bit, but most of those AAA titles are so obscure and hidden away with the crap games you never know whether your picking up something worth your time or an absolute pile of rubbish.

I thought I was going to LOVE it, I ended up getting frustrated.
