30 years of video games and well over a thousand videogames played to any extent, some of them repeatedly beaten through, and I'm supposed to pick one video game character who stands out out of the tens of thousands of characters who've played their parts in their stories...
I'm gonna take extended universe info into play with all this, but ignore any movie license titles.
Favorite characters:
Male lead: either male!Shep or Kyle Katarn
Female lead: Samus Aran
Supporting/party member: HK-47 or Oghren
Villain: Yggdrasill
I love Hale's performance in anything she's worked on, but male Shephard just fits the character better, IMO. Now that I think about it, practically all my picks are from works involving her performance. Huh...
@Tounushi
No offense, but Mark Meer's voice acting sounded boring, like a generic soldier. It might have fitted Shepard's character, because he's literally a generic soldier, but I like how Hale spices things up with her more emotional lines, or in Renegade case, more aggressive lines. Renegade Femshep isn't someone you would want to mess with.
@Maxenmus
Maybe that's why I've come to prefer male!Shep over fem!Shep. I play paragon as a rule.
I know I'm cutting myself off from a good performance and interesting story twists, but I end up feeling bad about the renegade decisions.
Doesn't stop me from triggering renegade interrupts, though. While I try to play good characters, one has to remember that good is not always nice.
@Tounushi
That's fair. I guess my experience was more unique because I played my Femshep in a way that she grew as a person over three games, going from Renegade to Renegon to full on Paragon by the third game. She Paragon lines are pretty good too because of the aforementioned emotions she brings to the front. There's a frustration there that tempts her to become a Renegade again in ME3, almost. lol
This is totally just recency bias but I finally got around to playing Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky and I really loved Wigglytuff's personality. Something about him just always made me happy.
