Well, I for one welcome our new Disney overlords. May the Disney Empire continue to rule with an iron fist, in the name of Walt Disney's reanimated cyborg body!

They won't, and that wouldn't sound so bad if Mario and Mickey had a crossover. Is there any evidence to this at all? Because Nintendo and Disney have been around forever, and both have not shown any interest in buying each other (I thinks). Disney have their own game making company, so I hardly doubt they will buy Nintendo.

(And then Capcom was bought by Taco Bell, the end ^_^)

I made Sheldon & Mr. Randoms back on Flipnote Hatena, now i'm a kangaroo mod that has a funko pop collection!

I'm not keen politics since that stuff is spooky, I'd rather watch SpongeBob over Fox News anyways!

@SheldonRandoms Why would Taco Bell want Capcom?

Not having third party devs make games for the Wii U is one thing. People still complaining that there lots of Mario games being milked is another thing. The looooooong wait for another F-Zero, Metroid or Starfox is another thing but BEING BOUGHT BY DISNEY?!?!?!?!?!?!?

You think this may sound silly but the fact is it really isn't. The only reason why Marvel is left unchanged is because the fans would get angry about it. Look what happened to Lucas Arts who made Monkey Island and now we will never see the series again as well as future adventure games.

No, Marvel is left unchanged because it is a successful studio. Disney tends not to interfere with a good thing.

And your fears of crossovers are a little silly because a) it wouldn't stop real, quality games from being made and b) there's really no precedent for it. Mickey Mouse has never been in a Marvel movie and he's never going to be in a Star Wars movie either.

It is far more likely that Nintendo will buy Sega.

Technically both of you are correct. Disney won't meddle with Marvel's decisions because they're hugely successful, but Disney also knows that "disney-fying" Marvel would do nothing but alienate the consumer base. Most Marvel products (like the Avengers films for example) don't even have the Disney logo in front of them.

  • Yum Brands is the parent company of Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC, and A&W, so they would be the official buying party, in this case.

Anyhoo, to get more on topic, there is no evidence whatsoever suggesting Disney is thinking about buying Nintendo (or any of the big video game companies for that matter), so I must ask, why the worry?

(TBH, I personally wouldn't necessarily be against the idea though, given how well Disney has treated Marvel. In this scenario, Nintendo could continue doing what they want, only with the much deeper pockets of Disney behind them, and higher brand awareness due to the inevitable Mario cartoon Disney would air after the hypothetical acquisition.)

And I assume that its taking great care of Lucasfilms? Thanks to that, LucasArts is gone for good.

If nothing else it'd be interesting to see Nintendo's characters and worlds in Disney Infinity. If done right it could be a win-win for the universes of both companies.

Honestly, I think the acquisition of Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound is just as big of an asset to Disney as Star Wars. ILM is one of the best visual effects studios in the world, and that's a lucrative business. Not only will they save a ton of money on their films by being able to do their effects in house, but they'll also be doing projects for other studios that don't own their own visual effects house.

Nintendo & Disney are my 2 biggest loves. But I'd only be ok with this if Disney made their own console. With their power and money they could easily make the most powerful console. But of course that doesn't mean they will do that, let alone buy Nintendo.

if Disney bought Nintendo either Disney, Star Wars, Marvel and Kingdom Hearts games would be exclusive to Nintendo systems or Nintendo would become third party I'd hope for the first one and sadly know the second would happen...
but don't worry it's not going to happen(at least not any time soon)

And seriously if it ever came to a huge collaboration in game-making this could be amazing for both sides.
With the experience of Nintendo, Disney's classic characters could get great games again and if Ninty would get stellar Star Wars and Marvel exclusives it'd surely make a lot of MicroSony owners interested in their consoles.
With a much bigger install base Ninty could bring the classic LucasArts games to their consoles and even make new entries in these series'. I always felt that a Nintendo console would be a great home for these.
All very wishful thinking there, but it's hard not to get carried away by such huge dream potentials.
And while we're at it, why not just have Konami, Capcom, Sega, Microsoft, Sierra, Virgin, Valve, Apogee, Blizzard, Bullfrog, Squenix, Sunsoft and Treasure under Ninty's belt too.
