Amnesia plots don't really bother me on their own its the amnesiac hero who just so happens to be the descendant/reincarnation of some hero or ancient civilization or the world's last hope thats over done. Quick time events are also really annoying especially when they're right in the middle of a cut-scene or they're the boss battle.
Smaller details such as women's armor don't bug me but I do think about them from time to time, like in Tales of Symphonia where most of the women's armor are dresses, robes, fancy gloves, and tiaras/circlets.
Oh yeah, and chase boss fights. 99% of them are extremely annoying and tedious.
You just reminded me of this one fight in Ultimate Spider-Man that almost made me hate the game. It was some electrical boss, but I can't remember his name at the moment (while he had the worst "chase" segment, almost all the bosses in this game forced you to chase them down before the actual fight, really annoying).

I've seen so many games where the main characters are adventuring and along shows up an annoyingly mysterious anime character who is always frowning and smirking at the same time. He has no name and he does a lot of looking over his shoulder (usually with a tall collar). He pops up, says something vague and arrogant then disappears, as if the player is supposed to be like "WHOA! Who was THAT!" But really you're just waiting for him to go away and wishing all Japanese games weren't the same.

Well almost all the female characters in that weren't meant to be in front lines (besides Sheena and Presea). Also, magicians robes are proper for people like Raine. Colette was a clumsy oaf who had shield magic anyways, so armor would probably just make her trip more. But I do agree with the tiaras, though.

I highly disagree that all Japanese games are the same, since there's so many games made in Japan that aren't anime style and feature so many different types of characters and storylines and art styles. Please don't forget that Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Monster Hunter, Professor Layton, Pikmin, Kyle Hyde, the original Silent Hill, Star Fox, Sonic, Metal Gear, Mother, Castlevania, Fatal Frame (Project Zero), Kirby, Okami, The House of the Dead, Xenoblade, Contra, Chrono Trigger, Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest, MegaMan, Y's, Ninja Gaiden, Phoenix Wright, Resident Evil, Rhythm Heaven, Starfy, Super Monkey Ball, and countless others are all Japanese games, and I don't think any of them are like the others.
@Zombie_Barioth I do agree with the amnesia thing, though that's not just a gaming cliche, as its been showing up in movies for decades and was old before video games even first came about. Sadly, Fire Emblem Kakusei (Awakening) features this as well, though that's by only beef with that game, as other than that ones thing, its one of my favorite games ever.

I'm sorry, I don't know what AO means.
@Crimsonturtle8 I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude at all. I'm sure you don't actually think that, I see where you're coming from. Of course, the convention of a mysterious unnamed character popping in and saying something cryptic has been appearing in fiction since Greek tragedy, and in movies since probably film noir, which is probably where a lot of modern fiction takes it from.

^yeah the steriotype is that those are the only games Japan makes... I've seen more AO American games then I have Japanese games, but Japan has more games in the equivalent of an AO game be rated Z in Japan, but M (which is your D) here
What I mean is games like God of War, GTA, MadWorld are all more exceptable here and get a lower rating then in Japan

I obviously meant anime games. Because those are in that infamous Japanese style where everything is identical. I didn't think I'd have to specify that but I guess I was wrong.
Also it's not just that character. It's all the anime stereotypes, which should stay in cartoons so I don't have to watch them. But when they pop into games I get pretty sick of it. The excessively perky little girl character, the big brutish male character who hates kids and women, the go-getter main character who has no defining traits outside of his desire to adventure, and many gender-ambiguous characters (often the main villain who is a raspy voiced drag queen wearing a mask or some other effeminate apparatus.)

Lol yes they do. I mean if you're assuming I mean EXACTLY identical down to the last detail, obviously no. But see my last comment and you'll understand what I'm talking about.
