Topic: What gaming Cliche annoys You the most and why?

The are different forms of anime though, certain games are still in anime fashion but are completely different, you have Pokemon, dragon quest, final fantasy, and crono trigger which are similar, but you can still count the anime styles in games like Phoenix write, mega man, Okami, Ouendan and kid Icarus uprising.
But there a some that have similar stories, but not all have that

The 3 hits and boss dies thing that's constantly seen in most Mario games.

Instant-death pits and parts where you HAVE to mash a button (M&L:BiS and Sonic Colors for DS comes to mind)

I'm really sorry if I offended you, that wasn't my intention. I personally love almost all Japanese games (especially Kirby).

It was wrong of me to use the word Japanese to mean anime--but I stick by my statement that most anime games/shows have constantly repeating themes and characters. I'm not saying American games are better by any means, I just prefer games like Mario and Kirby and Metroid with very unique concepts and not characters with big colorful hair.

Also I LOVE Kid Icarus and I've heard Phoenix Wright is a fantastic game, but those still fall perfectly into what I'm talking about. In Kid Icarus Pit is the go-getter main guy, Magnus is the brutish grump, Hades is the feminine bad-guy, and there's about 10 mysterious somebodies who show up out of nowhere.

I apologize again for offending you, but this IS a thread about complaining about games, and anime stock characters ARE a cliche, so I don't think I've done anything wrong.

Or better yet, the boss takes a little over two seconds to beat. Why even have the awesomely challenging level beforehand when it leads up to this?

I mainly see that in NSMB games, the Galaxy games (and sometimes the ones in Sunshine and 64) tend to take a bit more time.

Yeah of course there are exceptions, but there are also TONS of exceptions about all these listed cliches. You're right though, it's not a universal problem or anything

I completely agree, although I tend to be really relieved when the boss is easy. Which is stupid, because I should have to work for it

Yeah, I saw this happen in Borderlands 2. The area before the final boss(es) is a brutally difficult area where the equivalent of enemy tanks are thrown at the player almost non-stop while the final boss is relatively easy.

EDIT: As for my own? Extremely small inventories in games where almost everything can be pocketed or in games that are loot-based. I really hated this when I played the first Borderlands. I want to know the guy who had the idea of throwing hundreds of guns at the player and then forcing them to start with 12 backpack slots. I also really want to punch that guy in the face.

"the all powerfull disapointment" ya know, that final boss thats being built up right from the start of the game to be this all powerfull destructive and unstopable force. sometimes this boss even demonstrates that this isnt all just talk and that said boss really is this unstopable force that its been built up to be. then you finaly get to the end and this boss is about as threatening and powerfull as bowser in the first super mario bros game. oh and of course the cliche that usualy causes this in the first place "the all powerfull boss that aint so powerfull if insert plot device here happens or is used"

just a nintendo gamer on a nintendo related site (who wouldve seen that one coming?)

Or if you can just explode his wheelchair before the actual boss fight.

Haha nice reference.

I actually liked doing that to the end.
The battle was more fun, but it was valuable to do in speed runs.

Yes, in a lot of ways they do. They've got more of the typical anime characters. The sprightly little girl fighting the collected, mystic ninja--and the Goku-style shirtless mystic ninja fighting the brutish grump that I've mentioned three times now. Props to games like Guilty Gear for being really original-- but MOST anime games do resort to soft-spoken, serious-faced ninjas, brutes and irreverently perky little girls. Even Guilty Gear has all of those.

IDK the hair styles don't bother me (maybe because MY hair style naturally goes to the anime style, and I think it's awesom )

When you do it like that you can find likeness in anything.

None of those look like Mystical Ninja at all though.

Again, obviously they aren't ALL completely identical down to the last detail. A cliche is something too-frequently used in some piece of media, not one used in EVERY piece of media. When I said all anime video games are identical that was obviously an exaggeration. But the art styles are pretty much the same, and there will almost always be stock characters used. And yes those characters are very similar to other anime characters. The gruff fighting warrior who says little because his skills speak for themselves, or the calm ninja who's skills and agility are surprising because he's so calm and collected (or in this case because he carries a cane and has his eyes closed!) Still, you guys are taking this WAY too literally. There's no denying that anime uses similar characters over and over again. As do sitcoms, first person shooters, action movies, romantic comedies, you name it. I was just stating one cliche. I didn't mean to upset you
