Finally about to boot up DuckTales 2 from the NS1's Disney Afternoon Collection. For those that don't know, the NS1(NS2 supports 4K docked & 1080p handheld i take it.) versions of this collection absolutely thwomp stomp the older outdated relic that is the PS4 version, which I would avoid like the noid' at this point.
Capcom to my suprise updated the TV filter setting which is now much more pleasing to the eyes and more authentic to the real thing since they got rid of that bizarre character cascading ghosting effect, which actually almost ressembles the GameBoy(89') monochrome pea soup green displays awful motion persistence, rather than an actual CRT(CRT's have no motion blur/ghosting as CRT-heads know.) which still unfortunately plagues the PS4 version. The TV filter mask itself still could of been a bit softer just to help properly blend in the sprites so they look just a little more cartoon-like, but as is it gets the job done, and makes a world of a diffence.
And I would of loved if Digital Eclipse pulled an 'Arcade Archives' and allowed us to manually shrink down the screen size to our liking, vs selecting a stock pixel perfect ratio. As everybody knows, 8-16 bit games look best on a 27", or 32" 4:3 screen. For handheld players, no issues there obviously since you're going well below 27" on an 8" 16:9 display.
Plus you get Goof Troop(The black sheep must-play Disney darling of the collection) & Bonkers, and this collection just feels right at home on Nintendo, and the games are that much more tactile and enjoyable to play thanks to the NS1/NS2 having a traditional styled D-pad, rather than the separated/detached styled rubbery nearly concave design of the DualSense's D-pad, which imo, is straight up horrid to the touch.
I also beat Chip n' Dale 2 about a month ago, and what more can i say? it was a bore. People are charging $500 for the cartridge on eBay...You couldn't pay me $50 to keep it in my collection. It paled in comparison to the original.
With no soul, practically zero charm, forgettable boarderline attrocius(When stacked up the original Cn'D) NES mid' 90's tier outsourced sounding capcom soundtrack, with not a single shred of challenge in sight outside of some questionable janky 'sticky' gameplay/control mechanics centered around the mine cart stage, that had me almost hurling my controller into the TV. It was like a 4 - 5/10 at best. Skip it, don't waste your time. Stick with the first game.
