I played Mario Tennis on N64 - Nintendo Classics with a friend online, and it was fun. We played two rounds, one being singles, and another being doubles. Things got pretty intense while we were playing, haha. We had some great rounds, honestly!

Also been playing Hollow Knight. It's with the Switch 2 upgrade pack. I just defeated a boss after quite a lot of attempts, and that felt good. I'll do some more exploring to see what else I can find.

This afternoon, I played some F-Zero on Nintendo Classics to pass the time. Did the Grand Prix for both Knight and Queen leagues.

This evening, played more XCOM: Enemy Unknown on PC and had a successful mission tonight.

More Nintendo Classics gaming. Last night, played the King league in F-Zero and it's the first time I ever cleared it. I did come in 3rd in a lot of the races, and had to use the rewind feature because I genuinely forgot how to boost. Counting it as cleared because I didn't come in 1st unlike the Knight and Queen leagues. Still cool since I couldn't clear it on Wii U, I have F-Zero on there too.

This morning, played F-Zero again to play the Knight league for fun, and did another playthrough of Tuff E Nuff.

Still plugging away at Hollow Knight. I'm making quite a bit more progress than in my first file, which is awesome. This game is so good... I can't stop playing it, lol. Hopefully I can finish it so I'll be ready for Silksong.

@Sunsy That's awesome, the King League is difficult at times... especially Fire Field. Playing it in master mode is just brutal! I did play that league in master mode a couple years back, and I kept getting destroyed, lol.

After finishing Hades 2 and feeling in the mood for a fire emblem campaign, I’ve been playing through the first few chapters of FE Awakening on Hard/Classic. Hoping I can stick with this one since I bounced off of Echoes pretty hard around the mid game. So far the only FE games I’ve beating are Three Houses, Engage and Blazing Blade

Quake II 64 via the Quake II Remastered (Switch 2). This is a bit complicated to explain. Back in the day you were either an Unreal/Unreal Tournament player or Quake player. Hardly both but there were some that did (it was a one hell of a rivalry). Anyways, I was an Unreal guy all the way (at least until I was all in Aliens vs Predator 2). When these Quake remasters came out, I thought it would be perfect to experience what I missed from that era. I tried Quake 1 Remastered, but I just couldn't get into it. No disrespect to the game but it just wasn't grabbing me. I tried to give an honest try with Quake II, but it didn't jive me with me as much as I hoped especially with the sci-fi setting. I almost threw in the towel but decided to give a try to the included Quake II 64 and I'm really digging it! I understand it's a unique version specifically made for the N64 but it totally hooked me in. I completely understand if I get any flak for not experiencing the "real" version of Quake II but I'm having a great time.

Today I played a Wario Land game for the first time today. Browsing the Nintendo Classics library, I saw Wario Land 3. Saw a YouTube video mentioning the Virtual Boy and Game Boy Wario Land last night, went ahead and played it. Not what I was expecting. I was expecting a Mario-style platformer, I didn't expect a platformer with puzzle elements and a night and day element. Took some time to figure out some things, and had to look up how to do certain moves like jumping and ducking together (thanks lack of manual). I like it so far.

This evening, played X-COM: Enforcer on PC. Once again, it's an arcade game rather than a strategy one like other games in the series, it's not as popular or beloved like the strategy original. I did have a good time playing it this evening, so I like it. I'm someone who likes two of the X-COM strategy games.

@D-Star92 Indeed, Fire Field was hard, and I was playing on the beginner difficulty. I can't imagine it on master, that whole league had a lot of tricky turns. That repair strip is a bit out of the way. I think I may have raced on this one in F-Zero 99 before.

@Ganner Glad to hear you like Quake II 64. I like both original and N64 versions, I did enjoy the different set up and level layouts of the N64 version. I played it on this remaster, but I do have the N64 cart.

I know this post is close to my recent post, but played Tuff E Nuff on Nintendo Classics this morning and actually beat it without resorting to the rewind function. So really happy about that. I've gotten good at this game within the past month of playing it.

Also, played more X-COM: UFO Defense, and had a good mission. Wanted a bit of a Sunday morning classic game session.

Had a little time.this morning before work so I played Final Fantasy Pixal Remaster. I finished tbe Marsh Cave and beat Astos. One thing I have to say about the Pixal Remaster is tbe Experience Point scaling is really werid. I havent really gone out of my way to grind mainly just fighting enemies that attack me and I am so over levels its not funny. Current I am level 20 where I should be level 10 or so. Anyone else notice this?

@Sunsy I remember that kind of surprised me too, you'd have to take the long way if you want to recover, lol. Even then, it's not a very long recovery area.

That's cool you tried out Wario Land 3, by the way. I knew of the Wario Land games when I was a kid, but I wouldn't play them back then. I wanted to be the good guy, Mario... not the bad guy! The 3DS Virtual Console was when I first played the series. I'd say the first WL is my favorite one, that one is more like the traditional Mario platformers in that you're completing levels and getting power-ups. I like how you'd find treasures, as well. I just remembered they put Wario Land 4 on Nintendo Classics as well... I should come back to that game sometime.

@D-Star92 Wario is not really the bad guy in his games.. he's just kinda greedy.

Wario Land 3 is a pretty fun and approachable game although they really should have left out the day/night cycle because it is confusing and only rarely matters. The game is kind of a very silly metroidvania-lite with a bit of a kirby vibe but more aggressive and heavy instead of floaty.

@D-Star92 That super thin piece of repair strip right at the start, lol.

Yes, that how I felt too. As @FishyS pointed out he's not a bad guy, I think Super Mario Land 2 gave us that impression since he was the main "bad guy" in the game. I do want to play Wario Land 3 more, I'm liking it so far. Funnily enough, I thought they added Wario Land to Nintendo Classics, but all I could find was the third game. Seems odd to release games out of order.

Wandered through the Salika Forest in Final Fantasy XII. I helped a Mogry to get his workers back to work. Cute little creatures. Nature is so pleasant, even in video games. The music in the forest is so nice, too. Some parts even remind me a little bit of Final Fantasy X-2's music style.

They added a bunch of Donkey Kong Country games to NSO right before adding a new/remade game. My theory is there will eventually be a new Wario Land and they will give us the old games to help advertise.

More Wario Land 3 on Nintendo Classics this evening. Did the Volcano Base level, and it was tricky. This game feels like "what am I suppose to do," and then I'm like "I know I need to go there, but how do I get there," and then I realize "oooh, I see what I need to do now." Had to make Wario roll, then make some jumps, rolling into a small area leading to a pipe. Also got Wario his first upgrade after the first boss.

@FishyS That is a great theory, I could see other games getting added to hype up a new game.

I never thought I'd say this after 27 years, but I started (again) Final Fantasy 8 Remastered (Switch 2). Let me provide some context. Back in the 90's I was NOT by any means a player of RPG games. My best friend at the time was. He played all those SNES Final Fantasy's, Chrono Triggers, Zelda's, Breath of Fires, Earthbounds, you name it. When the great Final Fantasy 7 hit the scene of course he was all over it. Back in the day it was common for friends to watch each other play games. It was like experiencing the game together especially if either one doesn't care to play it themselves. Many of our sleepovers and hangouts involved one of us playing a game and the other just observing chowing down on unhealthy snacks (if we weren't playing something multiplayer). I observed lots of him playing FF7 and little by little I found myself becoming invested. Eventually I became one of those "typical normie and/or tourist" and took the leap myself with FF7. No doubt it was one of the best gaming experiences of that era. Anyways, when all the hype started building for FF8 I figured I was part of the fanbase now so we both pre-ordered the game. I didn't get too far into FF8 (maybe to the 2nd disc?). I kept getting lost, confused, and quickly lost patience because it wasn't a natural extension of my experience of FF7. Needless to say, I was definitely not an RPG player and dropped the game. Never looked back. Fast forward to present day and ever since they released the Remastered version for Switch it's always nagged at the back of my mind. I'm still NOT an RPG player, but there was something that has been tugging at me to throw caution to the wind and give it another go. It's not a bucket list game by any means but it is going to be the most out of left field gaming choice I've made in a long time. Let's see if I make it all the way through. Part of the problem being a full-fledged adult is time. I don't have much of it for gaming and it typically takes me a long time to finish any game. I have to be very picky about what I choose next in the backlog. This could possibly take up a lot of future gaming time and that backlog list will just grow and grow. We'll see what happens.

  • Mighty Goose - (NS1)
Fans of Metal Slug & Contra will definitely get a kick out of this. I really like it's air leaping roll/dash mechanic, and you play as some frantic distrought Mega Man armored' goose. What's not to love?
  • ShadowGate VR - (PlayStation VR2)
Not looking forward to the onslaught of jumbo-life sized VR Turantulas! I need to take a break from the pixel/sprite based indie games I've been mowing through in the last few months. VR being the golden ticket.

Resident Evil Requiem being another one I'm absolutely dying to jump into but I'm holding off once the PCVR mod is finished, so I can play it with the upcoming Steam Frame on a 4090. OR there's still a small glimour of hope that Sony has secretly funded RE9 VR Mode for PSVR2, and may get an announcement in the next couple of months. But i doubt it. Or i can play it on PS5 pro at 90-120fps, with Adaptive trigger & haptics support.

Nah, screw it. I refuse to play it flat. I'm waiting for VR. Even if it takes about 8 months to get the job done. Playing this FLAT, at least for me, would feel like a collosal downgrade after experiencing RE7, RE8(especially) & RE4 Remake on PlayStation VR2. There's no going back to a 55-65" flat depthless rectangle with stick aiming with Resident Evil moving forward.

Been grinding a lot of levels in Dragon Quest XI S and my hero character is almost level 50. Perhaps I should move on to the next story event soon.

Will also log in to Among Us for that free Ace Attorney costume.
