Been processing Brian Wilson’s passing for the last week plus and I’ve been listening to him and his influences pretty obsessively. I always hoped he had one last secret album he’d been producing for the last 20 years. I got a cassette tape of Endless Summer and an alarm clock/tape deck in 1985, and I played that thing until it stretched and warped beyond usefulness. It was my first piece of physical music, and it was hugely influential in my early years.

I believe Brian Wilson is the most influential and important musician of the 20th century, and if humans live another couple hundred years without mutually assured destruction; he’ll be viewed by our future selves on par with how we currently view Beethoven or Bach.

I’ve been listening to the Ronettes, the Crystals, Bobbie B. Sox, and the lots of the Beach Boys albums including Today!, Party!, Shut Down, The Girl From New York City, and, of course, Pet Sounds. I’ve also been playing “Don’t Worry Baby” many times in a row, his direct response to the Ronettes “Be My Baby”, which he had spliced into an eight hour reel. I can’t stop listening to it.

I’m glad his pain is over, but I’ll miss him for the rest of my life.

@Kairuuu I went to Antwerp since it's the only European city I hadn't visited out of the ones she performed in, except for Milan, but I've at least been to Italy. This was my first time in Belgium. I made little freebies that I shared with other fans. You can see them here.

I was hoping to hear 心という名の不可解 which is my favorite song from her at the moment. It was bit sad to hear it play as background music when the concert was already over and people were leaving. I'd also loved to hear 0 but I knew it had almost 0 chance so I wasn't expecting it.

I checked your profile. Good luck on your Japanese studies. I've been studying Japanese for 5 years now. It was great being able to understand Ado's speech regardless of if she was speaking in English or Japanese. She forgot what she was going to say at one point and got frustrated at herself. She apologized that she was speaking in Japanese during that but she said it in Japanese.

Another sad song but I like it. Like he says "everything will be fine".

Cool track. I like his hooked-by-a-girl-dancing. Niletto seems like a cool guy, he has a lot of videos like this. I have a lot of respect for people who can just do their thing in public places, like no one is watching. It must feel awesome. Definitely need to learn it too, or I will end up like a shy guy.

Love is War by supercell ft. Hatsune Miku.

This is a pretty well known Vocaloid song and what you may consider one of the classic songs (since this came out in 2008), but I’m going to admit that I never listened to this one until playing a lot of this in Colorful Stage! and really liking how it sounded. It’s maybe one of the most intense and emotive sounding Vocaloid songs I’ve heard, and the rock sounding instrumental really fits the meaning of the song.

From what I read, the song is centered on a person who has a crush that’s in love with someone else. Her love for her crush is intense, so she feels extremely unhappy and finds her world has gone dark after seeing that, unlike her, her crush is happy with someone else and that crush doesn’t seem to notice her anymore. She declares that “love is war,” saying she’s willing to do anything to show her true emotions and feelings to her crush so that they’ll notice her again. It really is a great song, and I kinda can’t believe it’s only now I’m actually hearing it.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot to state that I heard both the original version and a remix. Both are pretty good, but I really like the original version a lot more. There’s this kind of, I don’t know if it’s the right word, but static-ness supercell gave to Miku’s voice in the song that suits the emotion and rock genre of the song perfectly, and I found the themes of love being blended in with war (as a metaphor) really interesting. Does a pretty good job showing the intensity of the emotions the girl feels.

I've had Dr. Octagon - "Earth People" stuck in my head for a while now.

I mean to go back and revisit the late '90s/early 2000s underground/indie/backpacker hip hop albums that I remember, and check out the ones I missed out on.

Listening to more Vocaloid, this time DECO*27. I haven’t really heard DECO*27’s songs in a while, but I wanted to hear his music again since there were a few new popular songs of his that I actually never gave a listen to.

I’m going to admit that I don’t usually listen to newer Vocaloid song releases or really popular ones. Kind of don’t know why, but I usually tend to just stick to only a few Vocaloid producers and play older songs, but this time I did have a listen to one of his newer songs, Monitoring.

Why have I not heard this one before? It’s so great, and I think DECO does a great job making short but sweet Vocaloid songs that slap. Plus, it has a really visually stunning music video that’s animated from a cool fisheye lens perspective and is loaded with trippy and psychedelic effects and colors during certain parts.

I also heard more of his songs, that being Salamander and Telepathy, the last one being his most recent song. Telepathy was really catchy!

@Late Thanks!

I’m kinda disappointed she never sang Shoka. That was the one I was sure would’ve been on the setlist. I had a great time regardless though. Can’t believe it was a week ago already!

@Kairuuu I was also expecting Shoka. Thought she'd save it for last. New Genesis worked way better for the message she wanted to get across though.

@Pastellioli If you enjoy vocaloid music, you might like Ado. She did a cover of DECO's Hibana for her on-going world tour that goes by the same name.

Just a nice sounding track. He is singing something like "this love is self-deception" and I think the hand sign he is doing in the picture is fitting perfectly.

@Late New Genesis is such a banger so I'm not mad that she ended on that. Everyone in the crowd was going crazy and doing the "OI! OI! OI!" chants during the instrumental sections. It was really awesome!

@Late I’ve actually heard of Ado before and heard a lot of her songs before! Though, I haven’t heard her music at all recently. The last one I heard was RuLe when Spotify played that at random, and I can’t tell you how surprised I was when I found out MARETU was the writer and producer for the song, but I could recognize it was him who produced it just by the first few seconds of the song. He’s one of my favorite Vocaloid producers, so I really liked the song, paired with Ado’s strong and loud vocals!

And thanks for the recommendation, I’ll check that out soon! I’ll admit that I haven’t really heard her covers for Vocaloid songs. Hibana is another one of DECO’s best songs!

Love this track. Being hated by haters can help to become a better person, if you do not give yourself up to them, because you almost automatically try not to be like them. Just remember to love yourself and those who try to be your enemies. I hope you can find your way in life.
