@sketchturner @Ecto-1 Thirding this, although I'll admit I didn't give the Switch version much of a chance.

I would've even said Skyward Sword was my favourite game of all time when it came out - I was just so enamoured by the characters and story, and had no issues with the controls on the Wii. But I couldn't get into either of the control methods with the Switch version and it completely ruined the game for me.

@Themagusx1 I agree with you on Earthworm Jim. Every time I've tried to go back, and I've given it several attempts, I end up thinking there's so much wrong with it. A big part of that is the level design. It didn't seem well thought out. In fact, the game seems more concerned with getting all the gags in than being a well-designed game. It's got things going for it, such as nice animation for the time, but I just can't enjoy it as much as I did when it was new.

@BR1CK I don't dislike the Zelda series as much as you seem to(which is totally fine), but I always have trouble going back to games in the series and getting through the early, slow portions of them. They don't draw me in easily. Twilight Princess I just don't like. I'm at a point now where the Zelda game that's easiest for me to jump into is Zelda 2, specifically because it's not like the others. I liked that one a lot more than I expected to when I went back to it. It does require a bit of level grinding and manipulation.

@sdelfin oh yeah for sure. The only reason thst game got the attention it did was because of the animations. The game itself was not good. Like you said that level design is horrid.

Well, i have a lot of unpopular (in my opinion) opinions.
So, for things i dont like:
Zelda Games
ACNL or any game before ACNH (probably because NH was my first AC game)
Minecraft (i kind of have mixed opinions about it)
Mario Party Star Rush (complete waste of money, definetly not unpopular opinion)
Smash Bros. Brawl (story mode is great, controls i cant get used to considering i mainly play Ultimate)

just a loser on the internet who’s unhealthily obsessed with my chemical romance (and taylor swift, to a MUCH lesser degree)
my parents got confused and chose “mikey way daughter”
i am cringe but i am free
(any pronouns, she/they preferred, thank you!)

Sonic CD.

Sonic fans of the 90s and early 00s will remember this heralded as a holy grail of the series / a true highlight of the series that could match up to, or even surpass, Sonic 2 and 3&K - just that very few people were fortunate enough to have played it when it released on the Sega CD in the early 1990s.

But I think Scott the Woz puts it best: "[Sonic CD]...was constantly touted as one of the greatest Sonic games ever made...and then it became more readily available and that notion somewhat went away."

Boy, is there just nothing for me here. The level design is the worst offender - the levels were clearly designed for exploration and time travel but...I just don't find this aspect of the game enjoyable tbh. Visually the environments are over-detailed and over-complicated and don't really stand out from each other. And, while I understand that the soundtrack is generally quite strong and is one of the many things people love about this game, I just don't find the tracks here to be as memorable as in the the core trilogy.

I can understand the appeal of Sonic CD on a technical level - I'm sure people were blown away by the CD-quality audio and detailed environments at some point. But in a world where Sonic Mania exists, this all just falls flat for me.

Night in the Woods might be my least favorite game ever. I stuck it out hoping the ending might be worth it, and it was even worse than I could have thought. The only redeeming thing about the "game" we're the fox guy's noodle arms.

Tough question as I'm willing to give any game a try so long as they have a good story going on, and a lot of the games which I didn't like for their gameplay had decent enough stories that won me over.

I would say that I've grown out of Persona games though. They used to be fun, but I only had one playthrough on both Persona 4: Golden and Persona 5 before forgetting them entirely. There's just not enough to hook me as an audience with its highschool relationships. It really didn't help that I accidentally had Joker's 'twist' in Persona 5's third act spoiled for me, thus ruining what could've been a thrilling storyline. And dating fictional characters is fun for a while, but I prefer visual novels when it comes to simulated dating as they do a better job of immersing you in the relationship.

My newfound interest in the SMT mainline games that Persona games were spawned from might have something to do with my dwindling interest as well, but that's a can of worms I won't open for now.

Pokémon games, popular as they might be, have also gotten stale for me over the years. Really doesn't help that I've always been more of a Digimon fan (really looking forward to Digimon Survive on Steam). Pokémon Legends: Arceus was fun for a while, but I never felt motivated enough to play past three hours. I like the new Pokémon research gameplay though - reminds me of Pokémon Snap. That was a neat feature, for what it's worth.

The Witcher games never hooked me either. Witcher 1 was kinda dull with its lore that I never made it past the first hour; Witcher 2 just made me abandoned the game entirely with its awkward combat in the first five minutes of the game that requires you to shield and attack at the same time. It's a shame too, since I heard Witcher games have some of the storytelling across the three titles where your choices matter; I love games where the player's choices matter like Detroit: Become Human. Shame.

And on a final note of unpopular opinion: Super Mario Bros. 'Tis too hard. Sorry, not a patient guy.
