Bayonetta - simply too much over the top. Interesting because I really like DMC (especially 4).
Trails of Cold Steel 3 - simply too slow because everyone from main cast needs detailed introduction. Prologue with entirely different cast doesn't help either. Also a bit strange because usually I don't have problems with many dialogues.
Super robot wars 30 - I love mecha but this looks like only for fans of TV series and not genre as it stands. For better option I will probably go to Sunrider on PC.
Shin Megami Tensei 5 - seems like because of focus on demons creators forgot about story. Also the empty world doesn't help. Blue reflection: Second light did this theme better. But if the empty world feeling was something that the creators wanted than it is excellent work.
Metroid Prime, got it along with Metroid Fusion. I just didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would, and personally prefer Metroid as a sidescroller on GBA instead. Also, I didn't like the controls, for example, holding a button down to look around. The GameCube did have dual joysticks and other first person games used the setup.
Fortnite, downloaded it for a half hour only to find out I wasn't enjoying it. Nothing against battle royale games either, I actually liked Fortnite's alternatives and competitors, like Apex Legends and Spellbreak. I'd even say Realm Royale, that was really an underrated BR game. Though I don't play BR much anymore, last few times I played Apex, it was arenas mode.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
Mario Kart 64 would've been on my list for a long time (tbh I think Mario Kart in general didn't live up to its reputation until DS). But when I went back to it via NSO, I kinda got it. It's decent. The boo level is one of the most obnoxious and sudden jumps in difficulty I've ever seen, so that kinda ruins things but otherwise its alright.
Sonic Games (the lore is so messy i can't even take one step without sinking. also, the fandom.)
Minecraft (you get tired of it after awhile)
Among Us (you get REALLY tired of it after awhile.)
Roblox (it's hideous, ugly, chaotic, and pricey)
Horror Games (i don't like gory/spooky things)
Any Sports Games (i don't get the appeal)
Pokemon Gen. 1, 2, 6, 8 (the fist gen is glorified when it really wasn't good at all)
Bugsnax (i love the designs of the bugs. i hate that it has voice acting.)
Slime Rancher (there's so much to do. i can't get a grip)
Cooking Mama (i get confused a lot lol)
Nintendogs (boring. feels like a chore.)
Earthbound Beginnings (I love the Earthbound/Mother series but i just cannot stand this game)
Animal Crossing (the older games. just not a lot to do.)
Any Zelda game that came out before 1998 (oddly specific i know)
Bayonetta (just not my thing.)
The Original Super Mario (it's way too over glorified. it's only good for speedrunning (?))
Donkey Kong Country (I never really liked the characters and i just dislike platformers.)
The Sims 1, 2, 3 and 4 (it's honestly a chore to take care of your sims. they get upset so easily, and it's hard to keep tabs on everything.)
Stardew Valley (I love this game to death but at the same time despise it. There are so many secrets and it doesn't tell you how to do anything. I literally almost starved my chickens because i had no idea how to feed them. You basically have to have the wiki open anytime you play.)

@Royalblues same! I love gen 5. I really do hope they remake them (which is bound to happen), or at least remaster the games and bring them over to switch, but I hate the gen 4 remakes. Never purchased them and never will

These are games that I was so excited to play but genuinely did not enjoy. And they're praised as some of the greatest games ever. Okami was probably the biggest personal disappointment ever. I was so certain I would love it, but I had to force myself to keep playing.
I do love Zelda games but I feel the original LoZ and LttP are really bland. And I grew up with them, so it's not just me looking back on old games and not appreciating them. I love Adventure of Link and Link's Awakening, which came out around the same time.
And Journey is just... the epitome of boring. Feels like an honest to goodness emperor's new clothes situation. So much praise heaped on it because... WHY!?
@TazmilyHues
The Sims 1 is masterpiece. 😘
The goofiness, the music during building mode / furniture mode, the Simlish language, the ability to build your dream house.
I like some features from House Party (throw party), Hot Date (dating on downtown, build your public places), Vacation (build your resort, outdoor / indoor activities), Unleashed (having dog or cat, pretty much same as Hot Date by visiting nearby public places), Superstar (I love this Expansion Pack as it has the most beautiful Trance music, become famous people, doing the activity at Studio).
Not really interested with Making Magic expansion pack as I have less interest with something eerie and magical stuffs.
Absolutely great game for me.
To a lesser extent, I don't understand the praise for Sonic 3 & Knuckles. I think Sonic 2 is a significantly better game. I enjoyed S3&K back when they came out, but there are more bad levels than good ones, and the music isn't nearly as memorable. I do like the elemental shields and the improved co-op, but those were the only real improvements. In every other way it felt like a step back.
@sketchturner I didn't mention it in my post in this topic, though I recently talked about it elsewhere, but Okami was a huge disappointment to me as well. My experience was with the PS2 version, so I know some of my complaints don't apply to later versions as they did make some improvements. I also forced myself to play it for a while, and then I realized I should move on. I forced my way through Zelda Twilight Princess and didn't want to repeat that. Anyway, the first red flag was the 20-minute intro that could not be skipped. As I recall, they repeated some of the story parts as well. I hated the gibberish voices and the whole game seemed rather verbose thanks to that sidekick character. I also found the "brush" to be very unreliable, which led to having to endure cutscenes and set pieces over and over. I've seen people defending the game saying it "gets good" after the 20 or 30-hour mark. That's not for me, in that case.
The last of us, is a game that I just utterly despise. It tries to hard to be emotional, and it also tries too hard to tell a morality tale but it’s so cheap it fails. Don’t get me started On it’s sequel either. I just can’t stand those games. So overrated imo.
I also despise the Earthworm Jim games. The level design in these games are bizarre and atrocious, plus like the last of us it tries way to hard instead of emotional, it tries to be funny with horrible jokes and toilet humor.
That’s just me.
@Themagusx1 ditto for The Last of Us. I don't understand the value. To that I'll add that I think the Uncharted series isn't that good either.
Probably the biggest gulf between a game's objective quality and how much I dislike it was Horizon Zero Dawn. I hate maps with icons vomited all over them, I hate superficial crafting, and I thought Aloy was dull.

@sketchturner I was kinda thinking this about Sonic 2 tbh. As much as I love some of the earlier stages in that game...the quality takes a real nosedive a little more than halfway through. Metropolis Zone is notoriously frustrating and I find Sky Chase dull and Wing Fortress to be downright abysmal.
Actually, this is a consistent trend across almost all Sonic games IMO. Start great - end bad.
@BR1CK I was literally the exact same way until trying A Link To The Past for a second time about over a year ago now after not really getting into it at first. I liked it so much that I grabbed the Link's Awakening Switch remake a month later and am now currently about to play Skyward Sword for the very first time. It's crazy how one game in a series can completely change your perception on it as a whole.

@Fizza Oh no! Skyward Sword might ruin the series for you. It's incredibly tedious. I love the final dungeon and boss but besides that, there's not much I enjoyed about the game.
@sketchturner I don't think so. The only other 3D Zelda game I've played is Ocarina of Time which I thought was the purest definition of meh so I think I have my expectations set pretty accordingly as a result. Still looking forward to it though since it'll be nice to form my own opinion on the most controversial mainline Zelda game ever made (and when the most controversial mainline Mario game is my second favourite of the entire 3D lineup, it may just pleasantly surprise me ).

@Fizza I'll be honest, I actually loved Skyward Sword the first time I played it. Thought it was brilliant and after finishing it (2 minutes from midnight on New Year's Eve 2011), I declared it my 2nd favorite Zelda ever (nothing will surpass Majora for me).
Then I returned to replay SS a year later and despised almost every minute and questioned my sanity in having enjoyed it the first time. After I finished it I swore never to return to it again. I would rank it as the worst Zelda game.
But that first playthrough I somehow enjoyed a LOT, so hopefully you will too 😊
I had a similar experience with Skyward Sword. I loved the original on Wii, but I still haven't finished the switch version despite picking it up shortly after it released. For me, the storytelling still has the issues that were always there, but the controls just don't work as well as they did on the Wii. Playing the game on the Switch just started to feel like a chore.
