I wasn't sure where to post this topic at. I'm still figuring my way around the forums.
Recently, I've been listening to videogame soundtracks on Youtube. Legend of Zelda, Chrono Trigger, and a few others. I know that some albums and CDs were released with some games (Skyward Sword), but I'm not sure where to get a copy of some music that I like. I do know some soundtracks have been released to iTunes, and I'm sure there are sites out there (of dubious quality) that have what I am looking for.
But where would be a good place to start looking for videogame soundtracks? And where could I find a decent sounding one as well? I'm not too keen on pirate sites. I'd like to give my money to the legit artists and composers if I can. It's a small way I try to show my support.
You could try Bandcamp if you're into more indie-stuff. Many indie and smaller-game composers seem to release their music on there for very reasonable prices. For example, here's the soundtrack of Mighty Switch Force: http://virt.bandcamp.com/album/mighty-switch-force-ost You can name the price for yourself.
If you want actual physical copies of gamemusic, then vgmworld.com, play-asia.com and of course ebay are good alternatives. The prices can be very high though.
