I think I started to lose my hype with Switch after almost 5 years I have Nintendo Switch machine as I saw more bad business practice from Switch (live service updates) , partial download games and the downgraded performance for 3rd party games with some of them have unacceptable quality.
But my hype with 3rd party PS4 games got boosted during this year as I felt more satisfied to play the 3rd party games on PlayStation version than Switch version so I don't need to pay more expensive price for Switch version with half baked games.
I just being realistic after I have PS4 Slim for 4 years and I can consider more and more PS4 games for my collection until I have to separate my PS4 games collection into two groups due to limitation of PS4 internal HDD and the PS4 game size, it made me having less desire to get Switch games despite I still want to support them.
After I started to lose my hype with Switch, I rewrite again the list of upcoming games I want to buy so I moved all the 3rd party multi console games to PS4 / PS5 version so I will not pick the Switch version for the same games as I only buy the games once, unless if the games are really good on both Switch and PS4 version.
So, my PS4 / PS5 games on my list are consist 99% 3rd party multi console games (kids games only with very very few rated Teen games like Cobra Kai) with just only Ratchet & Clank games as 1st party Sony games I have interest about. And even after I gave more games for PS4 / PS5, my Switch games (by total including the not yet purchased) on my list still have more than 100 titles so by giving more games for my PS4 / PS5 games library, they can have bigger games quantity as my Switch games.
So far on my list, I have written more than 90 PS4 games (omg) and my target is getting until 120 PS4 games and I have to separate into two groups (Group 1 with my Top 60 PS4 games on my PS4 Slim, Group 2 with my Top 61 - 120 PS4 games on another PS4 machine).
And for my PS5 games, it was crazy that I could accumulated almost 50 PS5 games on my list before even I have PS5 machine yet.
I still have only 4 PS5 games, cannot play the games yet so they will be played in the future once I get PS5 machine.
My hype with PS4 games is already high and PS5 games hype will take over on me once I get PS5 machine.
Both my hype with PS4 & PS5 games have eclipsed my hype with Switch games currently.
I'm starting to feel battle royale is more casual than what it's portrayed to be, a serious competitive game. Yeah, ranked modes exist for the more competitive players, as someone who plays casual modes in Apex and Realm Royale, I like I can play for a bit, try to get some eliminations, and be on with my day. If I win, I win, if I lose, queue up and play again.
While stuff like Counter-Strike, I feel can be more competitive because of the game setup, it's broken into rounds, there's two objectives, etc allowing more plays and action. While battle royale has you running, exploring and surviving for most of the part. This is coming from someone who also enjoys Counter-Strike casually, but seen the competitive scene via ESports tournaments.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
@AndrasLOHF I sort of agree. I don't hate open world games, but at the same time I feel like there's just some stuff you can't really do with an open world format, and the fact that so many games that aren't suited for the format are trying to force themselves into said format just feels off.

@EaglyTheKawaiiShika I've actually been meaning to ask you about this whole Horizon thing: I'm not quite sure what you're referring to? Forbidden West seems to have been received really well, Zero Dawn is highly regarded as one of the best modern open-world games of the last console generation and the only thing I could possibly see this referencing is this potential Zero Dawn ''''''remake'''''' (in HEAVY quotation marks) for PS5.
Haven't played any Horizon games though so I'm probably missing something very important here.
My open world game I played this year was Arkham Knight, which is also a very good open world game where if literally anyone called it GOTY it'd be a joke. (though its easier to say that since its (mostly) obviously worse than the first 2 games in that series)
There are games that can just be what it is and be top tier gaming for me. But I'd certainly be surprised to get into the Horizon games and think Horizon 2 is a Twilight Princess or a Trials and Tribulations (I should've said Galaxy 2 now that I think about it, that's the go to safe sequel that everyone agrees is a masterpiece).
@Fizza It just kind of became the poster child for anti-open world people to crap on myself included. The first one came out days before Botw and it’s sequel came out days before elden ring. Both genera shifting open world games and Horizon learned nothing from BOTW and one of the Guerrilla games members complained people preferred Elden ring on Twitter furthering backlash. Then the fanbases got into a fun fanbase war thats only going to get worse thanks to the game awards
I think when a difficult game gets released the supposed gaming literati come out of the woodwork to get really upset that their hands weren't constantly held. David Jaffe had a near meltdown because he got lost in Metroid Dread.
There's man all over for you, blaming on his boots the faults of his feet.
Jaffe's crowning gaming achievement was making a multimillion dollar IP that answers the question "what if Devil May Cry was stupid and lifeless and boring?"

I'd think that if you're in the business of making games it's pretty much essential that you intensely look over what the competition is doing with a critical eye.
You just shouldn't take pot shots at them on Twitter. That's for the marketing people to do.
Also, the funny thing is that I wasn't even thinking of MGS5, because Witcher 3 was also an open world game everyone would think is GOTY in 2015, so Arkham Knight wouldn't even be the 2nd most notable open world game that year. :V
@EaglyTheKawaiiShika That's a shame. I've never played Ori as it seems too slow paced (and the art style is overhyped imo) but I'm currently playing through Hollow Knight and enjoying it quite a bit.
