@Eagly Walker Boone in the Mario 3 cartoon and Super Mario World, along with Lou Albano in the Super Show were okay, but somehow Chris Pratt isn't?

@VoidofLight I know, people keep denying that there’s something there, but Pratt himself said he is doing a voice, so the chances of himself doing a accent is high, on top of the fact that you can indeed here his voice change in the last line. And I know he sounds like Pratt, but the first voice line was also whispered, so picking on an accent that way would be hard, there’s no doubt that he is doing a voice.

@mikegamer That’s why I wasn’t to bothered with the voice, those two had deep voices in the cartoon, and I used to watch a lot of said cartoons and I wasn’t even a fan of the voices then ether, I think Pratt is a better alternative since he has voice is lighter, not French or Charles light, but it is lighter.

@Snatcher @mikegamer Funnily enough because of those classic Mario cartoons, and in a weird way, the original live action Super Mario Bros. movie, the new voice doesn't bother me too much. At first, it was surprising, but I think I'm use to it after seeing the trailer multiple times.

@Sunsy If it turned out that his voice was that way for the whole movie, I, wouldn’t care to much, I would care no doubt because I probably would feel lied to, and feel like he wasn’t really trying, other then that, I’m pretty confident that the other voices will be great, and there are leaks with peaches model, and she looks amazing, if it’s real.

@Snatcher I'm hoping Peach is good, she's my favorite to play as in Mario Kart. I think the voice actors has to do more with big name stars in big screen movies. Good example, in Trolls, Anna Kendrick plays Poppy, on the Netflix/Hulu cartoons, she is voiced by Amanda Leighton, who sounds close to her movie character. Difference is, the movie has a more well known actress in it because Anna was in Pitch Perfect and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

In the case with Mario, I think they wanted celebrities because big names sell to a causal audience. Another example, in a "I know Chris Pratt from Guardians of the Galaxy, I like that movie so maybe I'll like this" kind of way, thus selling a ticket, or a rental, or a DVD.

Which surprises me to see Tails' game VA, Colleen O'Shaughnessey making it to Sonic 2, since Hollywood loves using celebrities to sell movies.

I'm no expert on movies, I mostly just enjoy watching animated ones, but this is the impression I get when I see big names attached to an adaptation of something well known.

Unpopular opinion. I don't like difficulty gatekeepers. I feel like video games should be for enjoyment and personally if a game is too difficult or hard to master I will get frustrated and that takes the fun out of it for me. Don't get me wrong I love classic games and trying difficult stuff but I wouldn't want something to be this is the only difficulty and if that's too much for you sucks for you because it gatekeeps more casual gamers like myself

Now for something completely different!

Does anyone seriously want the video game voice actors to reprise their roles in the Mario Bros movie?

What if they're not up to task? As much as I appreciate the existing voice talent for the Mario series, there's a big difference between saying "it's a me, Mario" or "hi I'm Daisy!" and voicing half a movie script with actual dialogue.

I think, for this series at least, it doesn't really make sense to use the same voice actors in these two contexts. That said, that doesn't necessarily mean that big Hollywood actors are appropriate, either. But I don't mind what I've heard so far.

Yeah, the martinet voice is fine for short occasional lines, but I couldn’t handle 20 mins straight of that.

I don't get the people who think every game should be 100% accessible to everyone. There's a reason why "Casual" and "Hardcore" experiences exist separately. Some game's creators want their products to be more of a challenge and to hook a specific group of people, just like how some game creators want the games to be as easy as possible. I don't get why people can't admit when a game isn't for them and move on, but instead demand it to be made easier or differently.

I'm not trying to gatekeep or be toxic by saying this, but I just feel like if people want to make harder experiences, they should be able to do so. There's a market there for the people who don't mind falling and picking themselves back up to try again, and it isn't like people aren't able to learn how to eventually keep pushing past their faults. Most of these sorts of games take patience to perfect your skills with them, and get things down. It's why I love things like Hollow Knight or Elden Ring, since I have to keep throwing myself at a brick wall in order to eventually beat it down.

(Not saying that games can't have accessibility modes for people who are in need due to physical impairments, but I meant that games shouldn't have to all be casual experiences.)

The thing is a lot of those games use the difficulty (which includes level design and mechanics) as a part of the design process of the games. It would be like making every Resident Evil game very well lit (with a better camera) or taking out combos/super moves in fighting games. Even if every soulslike game made you a damage sponge and gave you the ability to oneshot everything, you would still die a lot based on level design and character movement. People say they want games to be artistic endeavors or not be censored but they get mad if a game requires a certain skill set or a lot of death repetition.

Just do like I do; watch a let’s play (of someone good at it) and move on. I can’t beat every taiko song on oni mode but I am totally ok watching the cpu do it. Not everything has to be tailor made for you.

@VoidofLight It shouldn’t tbh, if a video game dev makes something in a away, puts there time into a project,I think it’s only fair if they want a specific person to play it.

Also not sure if it’s unpopular, but do people like the Mario bros show? Because it just sounds like people never liked it, if so, then I understand why people aren’t happy with Christ, if they weren’t happy with the tv show voices before.

@Buizel Christ Pratt is the only one I’m still waiting to judge, I think everyone else will do a great job, I have already been convinced everyone else will voice here characters just fine, I even think a lot of them fit there roles, I really want to hear Charlie day and Seth voice there characters, because I think there voices will actually fit, idk if that unpopular. Also doesn’t Charles voice Luigi too? If so that 2 characters he would have to fully voice in a 2 hour movie.

I personally, wouldn’t, I know Charles is a voice actor, and he can change his voice, heck he voiced a dbz character in a dub, but the thing is, I have heard those machines were Mario talks to you and stuff, and I’m not sure if that’s him talking, but he sounded similar, and even that got annoying after more then 10 minutes, again I’m not sure if he could change is voice, but if he kept the voice the same, I could not listen to that for 2 hours.

Also, I definitely feel like they got christ because of a name, however, christ seem to be exited, and care about the role, and I’m just going to have to hear more from him to make an opinion on it, I don’t really hate what I have heard so.

The developer making a game unavailable (temporarily in many cases) doesn’t give you the right to steal it any more than it gives someone the right to steal a book or painting. If more people supported the Virtual Console instead of pirating the games, perhaps it would still be around.

Euler

WaffleBoat

@Euler that’s a tricky subject because it also depends on the game and it’s current situation that might make it not playable again (like licensing issues). But I do agree with the VC sentiment because for some reason I have never seen anyone I know (other than me) play a Metroid game legally.

I fear no man
but that thing:

Snatcher

@Euler it’s not like there making money off of it if I were to buy it from somewhere like eBay. If I want to play galaxy two? Can’t, brawl? Can’t, melee? Can’t, Metroid prime? Can’t, because I would need a wii, an older console, but they could make ther eown emulators like we have with nso, but so far we only have n6.

What about ds games? Or when 3ds become hard to get, I can’t play any of those games, unless I emulate them.

I think emulation is fine if you would buy it if you could, I would buy all of those games listed above if I could, but I can’t, because that would mean buying a wii, and said game. So personally, to me, I don’t see a problem in emulating something if there is just no way you could play it, (And I’m not saying can’t play it like if you can’t get a next gen console, can’t get as in if you want one, you will have to pay way more then it’s worth)

I wouldn’t have a problem with long levels in crash four if it wasn’t for the fact that in order to 100 percent the levels you need to not die, can’t carry aku mask from level to level, collect all the fruits, boxes, secret gems, and secret gems, all without dying, I think the problem for me, is that it’s just waay to long for me to want to do something like that, but I’m sure I will 100% it one day, I 100% the first three.

I love repetitive games. I love repetitive music and other repetitive things. If something is good then I want more or it, right? Racing games, tetris like games, fighting games and so on where the big picture stuff is same from playthrough to playthrough but from moment to moment its a completely unique experience each time. I dont speedrun but I am intrigued and even something like that where you want it to be exactly the same as your best attempt isnt, there is always rng or mishaps to deal with.

I also love short 1-5 hour games, it means I am confident I’ll see the end of the game.

If there were no emulators at all and the only options were Virtual Console or original cartridge, would the Virtual Console have been: more profitable, less profitable, or about the same? Literally every single article about the NES/SNES Classic Edition was full of Raspberry Pi enthusiasts posting about ROMs.

They're not presently selling any of those games, but they could re-release them and make money in the future (as they did with Sunshine, Galaxy 1, etc). They reserve the right to control how many copies are produced and sold.

If piracy was a victimless crime and Nintendo wasn't losing any money from it, they would've made the ROMs for their old games available for download free of charge on their website. But Nintendo has not posted their old ROMs on their website. Thus we can conclude that piracy does in fact cost them money.
