I'm glad to see that digital games aren't as ignored anymore and taking spots in top 10 lists. Many digital games are superior to most retail games now a days.
Still missing Radiant Historia, but at least this list is nicely balanced.
if you look up the phrase "conveniently ignored" you'll probably just find images of random 3rd party games on Nintendo consoles
Minecraft and Portal 2 completely deserve to win, even though they aren't even my favorite games this year. Good for them.
Yeah, it's a shame but to be expected with such a small-scale and little-hyped release. I think the two-pronged story and brilliant use of time-travel alone make it one of the better games I have ever played, especially this year. But I can understand its exclusion from many lists such as this, although it certainly is one of the most underrated titles of the year.
I really hate how Minecraft is still getting recognition. Yes it's a good game, but it's been a one of the games of the year since it was released in Alpha pretty much.

i honestly would only make one change and that is moving minecraft to about 8, It is very good but i don't think it deserves number 1. Portal 2 was my favorite game of the year, glad to see it in at least the top three.

I'm going to guess that the reason Minecraft is so high on Time's list is because of what it's managed to achieve as a one man project, and the impact it's had on the industry.
It's not so much about the quality of the game, per se, but Time's readership would get a kick out of the story behind Minecraft - moreso than any other game, I think.
I'm glad Minecraft is getting all this recognition. It's just such a fun, addicting game that has never been done before. Very innovative. I can't see another game coming along and doing what Minecraft did.
Otherwise the rest of the list is great.

I bought Minecraft: Pocket Edtion yesterday because i wanted to know the hype was about and it was on sale for $0.10. OH crap is it addictive. From what i can tell this doesn't even have what makes the game so great yet. I have to get the real game.
WAT!
Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.
That you do. I dont know what the pocket edition has but I'm assuming your world isn't as big or as free as the PC's. I heard it was released on the Xbox 360 so you have two options really.
Preferably the PC version.
