She-Hulk's second episode is out and I liked it a bit more than the first.
The comedy still isn't doing much for me, I think there were a lot of missed opportunities to make some great jokes, but at least the story is moving towards something I can get behind.
The Hulk flying off into space while calling with his cousin was really poorly done. Hated that bit.
@Mioaionios I'm just waiting for Daredevil so I'm gonna let them build up now. I will be annoyed if he's gotten a new suit and could be in a court scenes if it's just a quick 5 sec cameo!
@jump
I expect him to be in it more than a quick cameo. I think She-Hulk will have to go up against him in court in at least 1 episode.
What's more important I believe is that the MCU makes it clear whether or not this Daredevil is the same as the Netflix one or if the Netflix Daredevil was technically from another universe, like I suspect.
I’ve just finished the new season of West World, I was okay with them losing the cowboy land in the last season and thought it was actually pretty strong but this season feels a little iffy. It’s lost so much of its ambition and intelligence for a rather ploddy sci-fi story, like it seems to lack purpose as almost every single shot and scene meant something in season 1 but now it’s just abit rambling. It’s a big shame it’s dropped off so much as I had been putting up there with the likes of the Battlestar Galactica reboot or Black Mirror for intelligent sci-fi shows before this season.
Binged watched Tekken Bloodline on Netflix last night. I really enjoyed it as TV shows adapted from a video game this is the best one I have seen. It follows the plot of Tekken 3 and most importantly Jin Kazama as Tekken should. You can tell whoever was in charge of it is a Tekken fan and knows the source material. Everything was perfect even down to the fight scenes where they used actual combos and moves from the game. I hope they continue on with this series, but if you are a Tekken fan it's definitely worth a watch.
I've just finished Star Trek Strange New Worlds, I can see why a lot of the older Trek fans have been praising it as it is good but also has that old standalone format with the let's discover and then philosophise this shiz feel to it although I still prefer Discover and Picard. In weird way it's sorta like the original vision of 60s Trek, as this show is using the crew from the original pilot which was heavily adjusted to become 60s Trek we all know but in canon that was the previous Enterprise crew before Willaim Shatner was added as Kirk so even though it's a prequel it's also a remix of the original series. I'm not keen on the new Kirk actor though as he's way too dry for me but at least he's not doing a bad Shatner impression.
I've also started watching Heels mainly as CM Punk is in a few episodes. I was expecting a light drama since it's starring the guy from Arrow so I'm pleasantly surprised it's a proper drama. One of the things I really like about it is that's it's set in a small southern rasslin' territory which really adds to the show rather than trying to make it in a WWE corporate setting although there's a few jabs at the more mainstream wrestling. The idiot washed up 80s wrestler spouting rubbish is a highlight.
@jump
Glad to hear you enjoyed Discovery and Picard. I think they're complete rubbish and don't feel like Star Trek shows at all. 🤣
For me the best ST show right now is The Orville. Deep Space Nine is still my favourite show of all time but The Orville comes pretty darn close. Granted, I haven't watched Strange New Worlds yet as I have no access to it right now, but I've heard some pretty good things.
@Mioaionios I get Orville is meant to be a homage but because of how derivative it is and how budget the shows feels it comes off too much like a knock off for me. I'm not sure what's holding it back as on paper I should really like, maybe it's the Family Guy light humour or the cast lack acting chops compared to old Trek? Although the doctor usually normally smashes her scenes.
Both Discovery and Picard really work for me as it explores the idea of trying to uphold those weighty ideals without the backing of the Federation (which is what Voyager should have been before becoming the Seven Of Nine show) plus the change of having season arcs and doing more than exploring was a nice change. Also Sonequa Martin Green is just so ridiculously good, she is like watching a roided out Olympic weightlifter breaking every world record one after another but only for acting. If she wasn't on the show I imagine I wouldn't like Discovery nearly as much and I do actually look forward to when Discovery is cancelled so she can then become a movie star.

There's two things that make Star Trek, Star Trek for me: endearing characters and the exploration of human nature in a sci-fi setting. Both were missing in Discovery and Picard but The Orville has them in spades. The show's smaller budget during its first 2 seasons never bothered me but I understand where you're coming from here. Never had any problems with the acting either, aside from Seth MacFarlane himself at times. He can be a bit bland.
All I can say is I love, love, love the characters. They make me laugh and sometimes they make me cry. I really care for them and I hope we get confirmation for season 4 soon. Maybe during D23.
In fairness the Voyager was struggling in it's orginal format hence why they came up with Seven Of Nine to save it which she did so job done in that respect. I did really like the copy of the Bones, Kirk and Spock dynamic between Janeway, Seven and The Doctor although it was sad to learn years later it was a hell set and Kate Mulgrew was bullying Jeri Ryan.
I really wish they stuck with the concept of morally comprised survivalists though but they just never committed to it hard enough. They had a big battle and despite not having anywhere to go for repairs the ship would still be shiny looking, a chuck of the crew were rebel terrorists but with a quick monologue they became outstanding military trained space philosophers, instead of them having a hard time just to live they were jollying about etc. It does feel like a missed opportunity but a few years later the amazeballs Battlestar Galactica reboot happened which did those things I wanted anyway.
While waiting for an appointment today, I ended up watching a cartoon called Harvey Street Kids, or Harvey Girls Forever as it was changed in later seasons. As someone who loves cartoons, I can't believe I slept on this one. It's a comedy series about three girls named Audrey, Lotta, and Dot (based off the classic Harvey Comics characters of Little Audrey, Little Lotta, and Little Dot), and their day to day fun on Harvey Street (which is named after the studio that came up with said characters).
Thought it was funny, clever, and entertaining. Even the art style, while the cartoon is a more modern take on these characters, it still reminds me of something I would have seen in the 60's. Especially the backgrounds. May be an older show, but I'm going to keep watching this one. I like it so far, found it on Netflix.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
@Mioaionios Tonight me and my Mom will. I'm going to watch it as a generic fantasy show and not LOTR. Since Tolkein did not write it himself I don't count it as cannon.
@Kermit1
I think that's a good approach.
If this show really is going to run for 5 seasons, chances are canon will be broken anyway.
In fact, there's a character in the first two episodes that, if he is who I think he is, breaks canon already.
So yeah...
@Mioaionios I just took a nap shortly after writing that post, and no joke I dreamed about Elves inventing magic bikes. Safe to say I'm going to watch it in a good state of mind lol.
