There are times when I wonder where did all the good times go to? Yes, this is a thread to express your feelings of nostalgia.

What ever happened to classic rock, pop and rock pop and doo wop before crap like Snoop Dog came along?

What happened to the good TV programming of yesterday?

There have been many wonderful programs that seem to attract an ocean of fans and then that's just when the rug seems to get unceremoniously pulled from under our feet. I'm speaking of some of the greatest television and movie productions which all of a sudden are removed from television, canceled, unfinished, never receive re-airings or are just plain sabotaged and forgotten.

Some of my favorite television programs that this has happened to are:

Star Trek: Enterprise, The Pirates of Dark Water, Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi, The Cape, Xiaolin Showdown, Class of 3000, Chowder, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flap Jack, The Batman, Justice League, Jonny Quest: The Original Series, Catscratch, NBC's The Singoff, Michael Landon's Little House on the Prarie, DC Comic's/The CW's AquaMan,Teen Titans, The History Channel's Josh Bernstein in Digging For The Truth and Chasing Mummies.

I still remember being among the History Channel viewers in the histoy.com forum clamoring and protesting the History Channel's removal of Digging for the Truth and demanding that they recover Josh Bernstein for the show, many people have told me that History Channel ran Bernstein off and that the show had millions of viewers.

On the other hand I have no idea why Cartoon Network got rid of my favorite blocks Toonami and Miguzi. I hate the fact that National Geographic axed both NatGeo Explorer with Boyd Mattson and Ultimate Explorer with the incredible Lisa Ling.

I miss the good old days of the mid 80's and 90's television programming. Good shows like The Andy Griffith Show, Leave It To Beaver, Adam 12, Lost In Space, Route 66, Facwett's Charlie's Angels, I Dream of Jeannie, The Incredible Hulk, Dragnet, Emergency!

So I'd like to hear what you guys are feeling nostalgic for!

I can see this thread getting out of hand here. You are going to have people complaining now X is better than Y and that sort of thing.

If you miss the stuff that much just do like I did for old cartoons buy the DVD sets like I did with the original TMNT series and Batman the Animated Series. If you know where to look the stuff isnt hard to find.

New artists still produce it, you're just not looking hard enough if you think the entire current music market is Snoop Dog.

It became out of date and was replaced with the good TV programming of today.

Nostalgia is for the weak! Forget the past, forget your dreams, live only for the fight. Let the Satsui no Hadou fill you with murderous intent!

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

While I was born in 1987, I do not know half of that stuff. It really depends on where you live as well.

Here in Holland, the whole 80's and 90's nostalgia fad resulted in them bringing back many old TV shows. Some of those hold up, some don't.

The whole 'everything was better when we were kids' thing is completely subjective. When you actually see some of those old shows again, many are incredibly aged by today's standards. It's the memories that are fond, and they colour your views about them.

Sure, I find nowadays cartoons annoying, too. But too the kids of today they will be what TMNT or Inspector Gadget were to our generation. And our parents found the stuff we loved stupid as well.

But if it is my ultimate piece of 1990's nostalgia you want, this would be it:

The good 'ol 486 with a massive 4 MB RAM was what I played this on. Try it today with DOSBox and set it on hard mode. It's still brutal. I am still amazed what they could do with just 16 colours.

@Rensch, yes I remember that game. I played it from a site called kidsdomain.com back in 1999. It was a grand gaming experience.

BTW I wasn't actually saying that there aren't any good programs in todays age. We have great programming today such as No Ordinary Family, Modern Marvels, How It's Made, Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution, Iron Chef America and shows that satisfy nostalgia like Cartoon Network's Adventure Time.

Anyway, I just wanted to share with you guys what I loved about the past and to see what you guys cherished from your Retro days. Still, nostalgia for Retro Junk is just plain awesome, hence why I shop at the retro pop culture store Hot Topic.

@TokyoRed I feel your penchant for creating topics about everything you used to love as a youngster may be getting out of hand. Living in the present day ain't so bad, you know.

Chowder. Class of 3000.
What happened to the awesome old Cartoon Network?!

Wait, I'm a '98, so I probably shouldn't be talking.

You're good man. I miss the old Cartoon Network to. I just didn't mention the really OLD, OLD shows because I thought most people on this board might not be familiar with them. But yeah man, I miss Johnny Bravo, Space Ghost, Captain Planet, Ed, Edd n Eddy, Cow and Chicken, The Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Laboratory.

I'm shocked though at how people are really talking about nostalgic stuff. NBC Nightly News did a special report on nostalgia in America last month and I overheard our neighbors talking about nostalgia and how they missed Retro stuff and then while shopping the mall a man started talking right next to me with some people about some SeaQuest show or something like that that was around back in the 80's.

I miss Johnny Bravo, the Powerpuff Girls, and Dexter's LaBORatory (lol) but I don't care much for the rest. Ed Edd n Eddy and Cow and Chicken are much too silly for me, and I don't even know Space Ghost. I've seen a couple Captain Planet episodes, but I don't care for it.

Most of that stuff is on Boomerang now. I still see Johnny Bravo and Powderpuff Girls advertised. I wish they would have gone through with the Johnny Bravo movie I would have loved to see Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson as Johnny lol.

Dude, that would have been something to watch if not so hilarious that it wouldn't even be funny to say the very lest. It's probably good they didn't go though with it because I can already see a live action Johnny Bravo movie being an EPIC FAIL before it even hit the box office. I think some cartoons just don't lend themselves to live action movie adaptions (i.e. The Flintstones, The Sorcerer's Apprentice). On a side note, I'd love for Guillermo Del Toro or Peter Jackson to create a movie based off of the Pirates of Dark Water cartoon.

Nostalgia is poison to progress in my eyes. Unless it's Sega-related of course, in which case knock yourself out.

I used to watch that all the time when I was a young'un. That, Thundercats and Speed Racer. Haven't seen 'em in years. If I watched them nowadays I would probably think that they would all suck.

About the only thing that I can think of that's controlled by nostalgia a lot is the music I listen too. A lot of the stuff on my Ipod are songs that I remember hearing when I was a young'un. Whenever I started listening to satellite radio about 4 or 5 years ago, I started hearing all these songs from artists that I hadn't heard in years (Shenandoah is one that comes to mind) and I started putting the songs on my Ipod. It's not all bad though because a lot of other music is stuff I'd never heard before.

Jesus is the only way.
