Out of all the fan homages and tributes to the venerable ever flowing Legend of Zelda I think that it is safe to say that none is as creative and compelling as that of The Legend of Zelda: The Demon Road web comic from the minds of Stephen McGowen and Hunter Bonyun.

The tale takes place in a non-canonical sphere and takes Link to a whole different plane upon which a very different understanding of Link and the world of Hyrule arises. The major difference between the vision of Link that McGowen and Bonyun paint and that of Nintendo's is that Link speaks which is quite radical indeed.

This comic boast top notch illustrations and a superb storycraft that doesn't shy away from taking everything that we know about the Zelda universe and turning it completely upside down in a very respectful and fascinating way much like what Peter Jackson is currently doing with JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit.
