@Sunsy Seems like you've been having a lot of fun with your choice games as of late - and a couple of good store runs too! I didn't know Polly Pockets were still a thing; I used to own a few and would make a town of sorts out of my selection.
I'd love a chill Christmas where I just sit around and relax for the most part. At least for half the day. It's telling that I didn't get home until 10:15 Christmas night and still had to unload my car.
@Eagly_lmtd_xmasskin I didn't really have constant access to any sort of gaming device until I was ten, which is when I received a GBC for my birthday. Before that, I got my limited gaming fix at babysitters and relatives. Mostly SNES with a bit of NES and the Sega Genesis thrown in. I was fairly "casual" until that point and didn't become more ingrained into the hobby until probably middle school. I think I played maybe two games that released in 2023; the rest were from previous years, though several of them were BOUGHT last year lol.
I think that at least some of those demolition videos, the items and funds were gifted to them. I was taught to always treat one's property well, especially if it was a unique gift created out of love and/or expensive. Doubly so when borrowing something from someone. I had some less than stellar experiences loaning things out (mostly books) as a kid, so it's something I'm only willing to do if it's someone I really trust nowadays. With any type of smoking, my thought is despite all the warnings, if people want to subject themselves to it, then fine. But do it somewhere where you aren't taking away others' choice about whether or not they want to inhale the stuff secondhand. Especially when it comes to kids. The only reason tobacco/nicotine smoking is legal (only speaking for the US here) is how much the government makes off of it. And it was culturally ingrained decades ago. A lot of old movies and TV shows feature it openly.
Reddit link appreciated. I did browse that initial post and a few of the comment. They were spot on when it came to FE: Engage, so I could see that giving some credibility towards a FE4 remake. That said, I'm still taking it all with a pile of salt lol. I do like speculating/discussions yet don't put much store into leaks - I am likewise a skeptic - but time will tell. As for Shadows of Valentia, some of the differences I liked were how dungeon exploration worked and how casting worked this time around. We're very spoiled with tactics games. I have three backlogged already (both Switch FEs and Triangle Strategy), and I'd also eventually like to get the Advance Wars 1 + 2 remake and am eying Unicorn Overlord as well.
Currently playing: Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy (Switch)
@GalaxicGlobe Sounds nice. Still amuses me I didn't run into many glitches outside the 2D section in Lyric's Weapons Facility. When the game is suppose to be 2D controls, but still had 3D controls.
@Tyranexx I have been. Me neither, I never had a Polly Pocket (to be fair, I'm a guy) but I did spot a Trolls edition one while I was out shopping. It's really cute, opening it up reveals the Trolls world, and it comes with a miniature Poppy and Branch figures. It looks just like Poppy's face when closed. I also saw others there. I'm surprised they still make them.
BTW, @Teksetter, let me just mention that you don't need to apologize for replying late/not at all. I can well imagine you've got a lot going on. Just, please, don't hit the Ignore button if one of my long-winded posts lands on a bad day. It's going to be a long winter, and your patience with a chatty furball is appreciated.
Been playing quite a few games lately, namely Super Mario RPG, and the two games I got from the eShop sale, Sonic Superstars and Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection. I think the next Splatfest is coming next weekend, too... but right now I wanna play Mario RPG, lol. Who knows, maybe it'll encourage me to get back into RPGs.
@MarioLover92 A belated Happy New Year to you as well. I would definitely support you drawing Rosalina next! Not that I'm biased towards her or anything lol. On your own time and when you're up for it of course. On programming: You made a choice-based text adventure game in C++? That would've been interesting! Do you have the project out there somewhere to show others? I did a command prompt based text adventure in C# a few years back just to mess around a bit. I called it Beg Aunt Bertha. I can link it if you'd like. Been awhile since I've accessed my GitHub account TBH.
Mulan is an amazing movie, though I admittedly haven't seen the live-action film (I've avoided many of the more modern ones). I think Who Framed Roger Rabbit is what put me off of the cartoons mixed with reality aesthetic, though I didn't realize at the time it was geared towards an older audience. I just thought the film was weird lol.
I'm sure Super Mario RPG has sold pretty well on the Switch. Hopefully the game found a new, wider audience! Which would be deserved IMO. I'm quite looking forward to Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door's rerelease, namely since it'll be an affordable way for me to finally play the game without bothering emulating it.
Yeah...I'll admit the grand prix cups in MK8D got a bit same-y after a few times through. I could've used a story mode other than "Dude, let's race!". Even if it was something simple and silly, like many main series Mario story lines. I'm sure Mario Kart 9 will surface eventually, hopefully fixing the few issues that 8D does have.
Thanks, bud! All righty when I get a chance, I'll go ahead and make a Rosalina drawing. I do have an amiibo of her that I can base her on, and a smaller figure of her, too. I haven't finished it actually, it was pretty much just me experimenting and stuff. I think it was around the time I was taking my programming classes, too. I'll give you the gist of it though. My idea was that it'd be a treasure hunt with multiple paths you could take, I tried making it so it'd be similar to something like an Indiana Jones movie. I won't mind revisiting the idea and making a more refined version sometime. That's cool you made a text adventure of your own.
Yeah, I've not watched many of the live-action remakes of Disney movies. Only one I've seen was Beauty and the Beast. Lol, same here, I didn't know that Who Framed Roger Rabbit was made for an older audience either. At first, I thought it'd be a good one for the kiddos only because, you know, there's a cartoon rabbit, lol. It just looked a bit weird to me as well.
Oh I'm sure it sold well too... hopefully we'll get a sequel out of SMRPG. Oh absolutely, I'm glad that TTYD's getting a Switch rerelease too. And that's coming from someone who has a lot of memories tied to that game. You're gonna have a great time playing this one, I guarantee it. It was actually the first RPG that I really got into, after I had trouble getting into the mainline Pokemon games.
Yeah. As much as I love MK8D, one thing I'll critique the game on is the blooper. The item that splats ink on the other players' screens. While it does become a lesser issue the more you play the game, it's made learning the courses needlessly more difficult. Particularly the Tour courses for me, since the DLC was how I first played most of them. I hope they get rid of the blooper for the next game because of that, maybe replace that with the fake item block, which hasn't been seen since Mario Kart Wii.
Quite busy with both gaming and IRL stuff too. Gaming has been fun, mostly playing Trolls Remix Rescue and beat the game. Really love how the game lived up to the series it's based on, enjoying just exploring around with all abilities achieved. Also still playing Jagged Alliance on PC and tried Path of Exile on PC. The latter is similar to the classic Blizzard game, Diablo.
IRL stuff, took a trip to the store and treated myself to a special Trolls edition Polly Pocket toy. It's cute, it looks like Poppy's head and opens up to reveal the Trolls world. Normally I don't get these, but this one's special. Also got late Christmas surprise, a family friend gave me a Trolls Coloring book, activity pad, and sticker set. That was nice.
Yeah, it's a cool game. My brother gave it to me along with a Lyft gift card (which I used for my store trip) for Christmas. I even described it to him as classic Sonic, but in HD. He likes the classic Sonic games more, while I like Sonic in general, classic, modern, and Boom.
Sounds like you had a nice Christmas.
I forgot about Captain Toad, and I played it during its free trial period.
Looks like I remembered correctly. I didn't know they had one of those kinds of steam trains. Never been to any of Disney's parks, though I probably would go to Universal just for the meetable Poppy. Yes, I remember that scene.
I remember thinking Mario RPG was going to be some 3D Mario game when I first tried it. We rented it sometime after having played Sonic 3D Blast, so I thought it was isometric like that, lol. Me being a kid not knowing what an RPG was at the time. They can be, though I've grown to enjoy them over time. Outside Pokemon, I've played Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (love this one) and a few of the Shin Megami Tensei games. I do want to play that still, I remember being so surprised when I saw a new Pokemon Snap was revealed, yet I haven't picked it up yet. I always enjoyed Pokemon spin-offs, like Snap, Pinball, and Pokken Tournament (underrated fighting game, have it on Wii U).
Not really, I could mention plenty of times in older PC games when a hacker invaded a server. Specifically the game, Red Faction.
Indeed. Now that I beat Trolls Remix Rescue, I think I'm gonna play more Sonic Superstars next. Still so fun to just finally explore the Trolls universe in a game. I'm still booting up the game just to explore around and play as Viva too (played most of the game as Poppy).
Thanks for the New Years wish.
Yeah, same here. The most recent game I've been playing was Super Mario RPG. Been playing the heck out of that, and I managed to get some decent progress in Sonic Superstars as well. As for real life stuff, I'll be putting away Christmas decorations, and prepping for my birthday. Glad to hear you liked Trolls Remix Rescue.
Now that I got some hands-on time with Sonic Superstars, it is a solid Sonic game for sure. I even went ahead and tried out all the playable characters, too. Right now, I wanna try to go for all the Chaos Emeralds before I finish the game. I think I got five of them? The last special stage I played gave me trouble... thank goodness they have the decency to let me keep trying, albeit by starting the whole level over. The big ring wasn't too far away from the start, thankfully.
Your brother sounds pretty similar to me in regards to the Sonic series. Always liked the Genesis games the best, as well as Mania, but I do like the Adventure and Advance games quite a bit as well. The boost games are all right, I did like Colors and Generations (I didn't like Unleashed), but not among my absolute favorites in the mainline Sonic series. I only tried out the Sonic Boom games via eShop demos long ago, and just wasn't into them. I do respect you like Sonic Boom in general though, and heck, Sonic as a whole.
I've not been to any of Disney's parks either, but I would love to go to them, especially Disney World. There's quite a lot of things I'd love to experience over there. The closest I ever got was that Disney store when I went on vacation to visit my grandmother. I got plushes for Belle and Anna over there! I think they had a brochure that had a map for one of the Disney parks, and I recall there were train tracks circling around the park. That's pretty much how I first learned about the Disney trains and stuff. I guess one reason why I've not been to the Disney parks was that when I first heard of them, I was under the impression that they would be mostly thrill rides, and I had a bad experience with a roller coaster. I do think that Disney World has something for everyone over there though, last I knew. That would be cool to meet Poppy at Universal, I think I'd mainly go there for Super Nintendo World. I'm so meeting Mario, Luigi, and Peach over there when I visit. I can tell Peach you say hi to her if you want.
Ah yeah, both Super Mario RPG and Sonic 3D Blast also had a similar art style to each other, so I can understand how Mario RPG was a bit off-putting for you, lol. I think I'm slowly getting back into RPGs, thanks to the Mario RPG remake on Switch. Assuming I don't get burnt out, maybe I'll head back into Dragon Quest XI or Xenoblade Chronicles 1. Tokyo Mirage Sessions is another good one to head back to, I did hear it's not too long. I used to like Pokemon Snap on the N64, I have yet to get the Switch one.
Oh gotcha, that makes sense. Since you've been into PC games a lot longer than I have. I do wanna finish Sonic Superstars as well, I think I'm almost done with it. Just wanna get a couple more Chaos Emeralds then I'll finish the game off. Anytime.

@ThatWeirdGuy Yeah bro I'm so sorry about that. I had fun things planned too, I wanted to do karaoke with you and Dezi and I was so excited. I was bragging about it to my classmates and everything. Then some stuff happened (I'm sure Troy explained) and he moved. He just finished getting his stuff about a week ago. I miss him. Tell me everything by the way.
