Is it me, or do people always ask for a sequel to a movie they like, but then years pass and when one IS announced, those same people are like "No, we don't want a sequel, it was fine on its own"?
@TeaCatherine ah, what a good list. Short, sure, but I have to approve any attempt at tackling Half Life games for the first time. It's a completely unique experience. I would avoid any spoilers until you have the chance to get it. Yakuza is a really good game as well. I'd recommend both, but for Half Life, wouldn't normal computer actually be better, with mouse support?
I can recommend some PC classics for you if you want to. Civilization 2 and Myst would be a good beginning, Tropico 2 is also a pretty nice game. The Sims 1 and 2, Industry Giant 2 and Morrowind are other nobrainers
yeah, Square Enix fell harder than a cartoon piano.
You could write character bios along with backstory’s with the characters you draw!
that's not a bad idea, but I need to get back to drawing, the pressure is kinda offputting. Every time I draw something I limit myself to the basics and then I am dissatisfied that I didn't even try to draw anything more complicated, and I couldn't think of how to execute it. I think I need more practice, but I can't practice at peace knowing I'm not good at drawing. Vicious circle, I know. But in 2024, everything will change, because of course it will!

It's not quite midnight where I'm at just yet, but it is very close as of this post. So, Happy New Year to everyone at Nintendo Life from yours truly! Let's-a make 2024 a good year!
@MarioLover92 Glad you're having a great time with Super Mario RPG! As for your next drawing....Maybe something with a New Year's or winter theme?
Something going wrong when programming is an inevitability. We just get better at avoiding those problems lol. If someone says they've never made a mistake, either they're lying or have followed a risk-free recreation guide in steps. Whether or not you grew up with easy access to a certain technology does factor in. I'm pretty adept at PCs and smartphones, less so with tablets....They're basically larger phones or less adept PCs. I'd rather have one or the other instead of some awkward in-between. A phone satisfies all my tablet needs. More intense stuff out of email checking and web surfing requires a halfway decent machine anyway.
Disney properties can be very impactful. I recommend watching The Rescuers Down Under when you get the chance, in fact that's the first of the two I watched. I recommend the live 101 Dalmatians movie too. I might factor in Mary Poppins at some point, though I admit the visuals weirded me out a bit as a kid lol. By then I was used to stuff being worked all live action or cartoony, nothing really in-between.
I sorta hope Super Mario RPG is a way Nintendo is using to vet interest in more traditional RPGs for Mario again...though I'll admit this is wishful thinking. I hope AlphaDream's former employees found good job positions at least. Their closure is still sad, though not very unexpected. The worst part with that soft lock was I couldn't discover what was up for a little while since I was on a plane without wifi at the time (unless I paid). Thankfully I resolved the issue on my own but reloading from the last save point.
I agree Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will be hard to top, both from my own impressions and other feedback online. I would like a bona fide adventure or story mode in the next game, something that motivates me to keep going. I think that's why Dragon Quest Builders 2 has clicked much more for me than Minecraft ever did since it has a story to push the player along. I'd settle for a mission mode as long as they're interesting.
Yeah perhaps, I think I'm leaning toward a winter themed drawing. Perhaps I could draw Rosalina next! Been wanting to draw her for a good while, and there is a Mario Kart course called Rosalina's Ice World. Been taking a break from drawing after I made the Merry Mountain one.
Indeed, it gets better the more we progress in our programming project, too, I think. I experimented by making a choice-based text adventure game with C++, though if I recall correctly, my code wasn't the most efficient out there, lol. Though I did use functions in my code. I'm decent with using smartphones as well. Yeah, I personally don't need a tablet either, my phone does the job just fine.
All righty, I'll be sure to watch those... I still remember that you like Mulan as well, I still have yet to rewatch that! Oh gotcha, that is certainly understandable, I think Mary Poppins was one of the first movies to combine live-action with animation. Similarly, when I was a kid, I used to think that Who Framed Roger Rabbit looked a bit weird with how it does the same thing, except for the entire film.
Ah yeah for sure, I'd imagine that Super Mario RPG sold pretty well on the Switch, given how people were passionate for the game, and I'm sure it rose in popularity when it got rereleased on the Wii Virtual Console. Heck, the VC was when I played the game for the first time! I wouldn't be surprised if Paper Mario: TTYD sells well on the Switch, either... given its cult status. I do hope everyone at AlphaDream found good jobs as well.
Absolutely, I think it'd be more interesting than just doing the Grand Prix cups one by one. Been wanting an adventure mode for Mario Kart for quite some time now... I'd be fine with the regular Grand Prix mode, but an adventure mode is what I'd really like for the next game. I wonder how Nintendo would pull it off.
@Princess_Lilly That's awesome to hear, glad you had a great Christmas. I'm happy with everything I got, too!
Tom Scott stopped making videos (more like indefinite hiatus but still). I rarely had the chance to catch up with it daily, but it's kinda sad that something ends here. However, since he's said he's gonna spend more time with his dear ones, I consider it an absolute win.
@Princess_LillyThats vary understandable, idk if you feel the same way or if will work but what I have to do personally is just push my self to do it, and then I forgot why I didn’t in the first place, but then I eventually run into the issue you mentioned. I think of it this way, you do by doing, and can’t do by trying, trying terns into do’s instead of can’t’s. I know it sounds stupid and I have a hard time doing what I say myself but maybe you find more use out of my words then I do myself.
I can’t wait for this! I need it! I wish we could get a continuation but this is a close first! And is it going to be that big? How many pages are we getting? I know it’s meant to have two versions! Oh boy I can’t wait to hear more!
Happy new year everyone! I hope this year treats you well! I can’t wait to see what’s to come.
