Random iPadOS 17 RC Review:

• Personalized Voice seems great so far (waiting for the voicebox to process overnight)
  — Since I can also make a really great impression of Mario, not only shall i clone my regular voice but the voice of Mario too. “Okey-dokey, the weather is-a-twenty-five-a!”
• Live speech is great, and also is fun for some trolling
• Still no stage manager on the mini 6 D:
• Safari Profiles are epic, also can be used as incognito but superior
• Fitness app addition is great.
• Home Screen customization is finally here and it’s solid
• I miss the old iOS 16 UI of sending photos/gifs in iMessage
• Custom stickers are cool
• New Notification Center Design is nice.

Overall pretty solid, I’d give it like a 7.5/10

@DiamondCore stage manager requires an M chip, for whatever reason. So they’ll never add it to the mini 6 (nor the air 4)

@Eel Nah, it can definitely run on the Mini 6 as jailbroken ones can run it just fine.
Apple just purposefully left it out to entice people to buy the more expensive models, like they do a lot.

For example; the base iPhone 15 is limited to USB-C 2.0 speeds so people are enticed to get the pro model

Chris McLain is, unfortunately, not In Fortnight. But that may be for the best, as that might make the game to good for mortals to bear.

@DiamondCore unfortunately, the fact it can work without one doesn’t change the fact that Apple won’t allow it without an M chip.

So when I say “requires an M chip” it doesn’t necessarily mean “out of necessity”, it can also mean “by design”.

@DiamondCore Im always curious why people buy the apple stuff. It's been fascinating for me ever since I delved into that topic

@Princess_Lilly Well, there are many reasons, but some of the main ones I can think of are
1. Brand recognition
— Back when Apple was actually innovating, it built itself up a great reputation and name, because of that; most casual consumers will go to Apple because it’s the one they recognize and know, and deem safest
2. Ecosystem
— As expensive as apple products can get, it undeniably has the best ecosystem and ease of use, for example; putting files from a phone to Mac is as simple as an airdrop while putting files from a phone to Ubuntu Linux requires download something like kdeconnect on both things, pairing to the other device and finally being able to move the files
3. Marketing
— Think about this, how many times have you seen an Apple product advertised compared to a google product? What’s the ratio? It’s usually in apples favor because they market a lot and get their product out there.
The only phone I’ve seen that can remotely emulate apples marketing frequency is the google pixel, and that’s probably because google made the pixel and google has the monopoly over internet advertising
4. UI/store preference
— Some people just prefer the App Store and iOS UI compared to the GPStore and android UI due to things like ease of use, nostalgia, etc

There are more reasons I can think of but that’s the gist of it
