@Sunsy All right, I think I figured out what was causing my laptop screen to flip out. It might have been my Intel display adapter. I went to device manager, and changed it to Microsoft basic display adapter. (There's another display adapter that complements it, which is the NVIDIA GeForce one.) I did actually change it back to the Intel one before shutting down yesterday, then I turned it back on today and the screen was once again going nuts on the left side. (I should also mention that after the screen glitches, there's an after-effect that causes the screen to rapidly flicker for a bit.) So I changed it back to the Microsoft display adapter, restarted the computer, and started using Firefox as I normally do. I haven't seen any glitches as I browse and type this very post from my laptop. However, Webroot (my anti-virus software) did notice that the graphics RAM is low... I guess that only means my games won't run super great? I don't know. Hopefully that did the trick, and it won't happen again. But my goodness, that screen glitching really scares me. Thanks again for your help! If anything else happens, I'll let you know.
@Tyranexx Yeah, it could be just a coincidence... lol! I'll definitely do my best in the Splatfest. I hope Courage wins... I'm still a bit upset that the villain team won in that Heroes vs. Villains Splatfest in Splatoon 2, lol. Me too, I finished the next dungeon and managed to fuse quite a lot of Kinstones the last time I played.
Yep, it's quite a long-running series. It's no wonder the original Super Mario Bros. was a smash hit for many folks... Mario is pretty much the Mickey Mouse of gaming. Yeah... I think the first Sonic movie came out right before Covid first happened, and the last movie I've seen in theaters before that was Frozen II, which I enjoyed. Plus I'm with you, I kinda want to see the first Sonic movie before watching its sequel. I'm definitely familiar with Jim Carrey, he was in Bruce Almighty which is one of my mom's favorite movies. She is quite the movie person... kinda like how I'm into Nintendo games, lol.
"Give yourself the gift of being joyfully you."
Favorite game: Super Mario 3D World
AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
Some late responses because I've been a bit busy. Been enjoying the free trial of Star Wars Republic Commando, really liking this trial, though I might get it via GOG instead, just to have the game DRM-free. Cool, considering I recently played through Dark Forces and liking Star Wars FPS games.
@SunsyI do like your Yoshi movie idea even if I'm unsure it'll happen. That said, Hollywood has done crazier things lol. I loved that Luma, heck I liked the whole prison scene...though I do wish the penguins had more dialogue and character development.
Other than watching the Mario movie again, I want to see a Japanese film my local theater is surprisingly running. Named Suzume. The premise seems pretty interesting!
Yeah, it would be nice to see how Yoshi's craft-inspired world would turn out if it was a movie. Yeah, the whole prison scene, Luma added to it. Dark little Luma.
Ooh sounds nice. Enjoy it, I noticed that was being promoted on social media too.
@Sunsy Oh that's interesting, so for Sonic R, track 1 would be the game's code and data, and stuff like that. That reminds me, I think if you were to put a Dreamcast disc into a CD player, you'd get a voice recording saying to remove the disc. Guess that's why game discs' data could potentially damage CD players.
That's cool. I'd say it's the GBA, DS, and 3DS that I used the most. So many great games on all three of those systems, and I have a ton of games on my 3DS alone. Even more so when you count how many DS games I've gotten over the years.
I could try disabling my plug-ins next, I've reinstalled my main browser, Firefox, a few times, but that didn't seem to work. (I think that reinstalled the plug-ins I originally had, too.) So I'll try that next time I go on my laptop, as well as trying out the HDMI port. I also have a USB fan which I left off when taking care of some stuff. Maybe that helped to have it turned off? I'm not too sure. Hopefully I'll get the display in working order once again, thanks again for your help.
Yup, also if Dreamcast games used CD audio, it would only be playable on the Dreamcast itself, could never get them working on an actual CD player aside from that one message.
Indeed, plus for me, Sonic 1 is that one game that appears on everything, lol. Funny how I have it on all those handhelds. I still remember the GBA was always my go-to travel system, even after the DS and 3DS too.
You could try that. The only plug-in I use is an ad blocker, it's mostly for more malicious ads if I'm browsing the net. I always turn it off for sites I trust, like Nintendo Life, YouTube, etc. I only keep an ad blocker and an anti-virus on hand just in case. I'm usually safe online.

Glad you got to the bottom of it at least, it sounds like a display driver problem. Will admit, that anti-virus message about VRAM is really strange. Personally I use Avast anti-virus, but usually it doesn't do anything to VRAM. VRAM tends to be the memory graphics use when gaming for example, Apex Legends tells me how much VRAM texture streaming uses. This determines how sharp textures look when turned off (fun fact, Apex Legends uses the Source engine, the same engine powering Half-Life 2, it's just has a lot of features added to it to make it look modern).
@JadeKitsune Having played it, I honestly found no difference between the two outside graphics. Never ran into those infamous glitches (which was clarified to be the game in an emulator AFAIK, my guess is the game was too new for it at the time). Part of the reason why the port runs the way it does is the graphics are higher than the Wii original.
It was a remaster of a Wii game, which means they probably reworked some graphics to make it look better. Throw in the fact the game has a different engine than the original game too from what I remember.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
My stupid cat got all hyper today and darted out from under a bed in the house and charged straight for my feet headfirst, tripping me up, and then he hit his head and ran down the stairs. What an idiot
@blindsquarel I mean, this picture makes him looks like a moron, but in truth, you are bang on, he’s actually nowhere near intelligent, it’s like he has negative IQ
@ComfyAko Wait it’s ok it’s ok! I’m just joking lol, I was planning to leave for the whole day as a joke, but I don’t want to stress you into thinking I actually left! It’s ok I wasn’t offended lol.
@Colonel_Mustache Recommendation noted! I confess I'm not the biggest Sonic fan - of the games anyway - but the movies do look like quite a fun ride (run?).
@MarioLover92 Wouldn't it be sadly ironic if Team Power takes all? XD Honestly, I gotta agree with the Villain team winning that Splatfest, even if that technically isn't how things were supposed to go. Gotta change things up now and again. Everyone loves a good villain! Which dungeon did you finish in The Minish Cap? One of the dungeons in that game has one of my favorite tracks in the entire series. I will warn you the fifth dungeon can be sorta hard.
I haven't seen the "So bad it's good" Mario film, but it is on the bucket list lol. I did also see Frozen II in theaters. IMO it's even better than the first movie. I've enjoyed a lot of Jim Carrey's performances, and I gotta agree with your mom; Bruce Almighty is a pretty entertaining film. It's hard to argue whenever Morgan Freeman shows up either. XD I also like Evan Almighty, though it's not quite as good IMO.
@SunsyWell, we already know the warp pipes in the Mario movie are truly portals to other worlds...maybe one of those is a crafted world a la Yoshi? Or even the paper world of Paper Mario....Now I'd like to see that too! The irony is I'm currently replaying Super Mario Galaxy, and none of the Lumas in the actual game are nearly that dark. XD
On Suzume: Thanks! The reason I'm surprised my local theater is running it is because they don't normally pick up what I consider are niche films; it isn't a large chain theater, it's a small company that runs only three theaters total in my region. They've already dropped the subtitled showings, but they're still running the dubbed version (Which I'm fine with).
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
