So I've been giving my room a major restructuring as of late (my bed is now in the top middle and god it's gonna take some getting used to XD) and, in my rummaging and decluttering, what do I happen to find? My old DSi XL from over a decade ago, with Pokemon stickers and everything! I'm pretty sure it doesn't work right now but I could try and get it sent to a place that fixes them and once that's taken care of, it'll basically be like we've never left!

So then, I put forward a question to everyone here: what DS games would you recommend if I were to hypothetically get this thing up and running again? I've already got my heart set on Mario & Luigi Partners in Time/Bowsers Inside Story, World Ends With You and a couple of Pokemon games but other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I played way too much Asphalt 9 today, recently found out Asphalt 9 is on Steam, so started playing, and unlocking a bunch of cars. I have the game on Switch, but it will be nice to play it on PC too. Also discovered Smurfs Kart supports the Joy-Con Wheel, which means another racing game that supports it.

@MarioLover92 You're right, there hasn't been a Double Dash track in the Course Pass. That would be cool, though can't think of a track for it. Thinking about it recently, I'd like to see Rainbow Road DS. That track's music is so underrated, such a relaxing song too. You know, I totally forgot Luigi's Mansion came out on 3DS.

Yeah, it would be nice to at least play Wii U games, the ones that don't require the gamepad on Switch. Sadly it never happened. I wish Nintendo did more backwards compatible stuff like they did in the past. I never played the Xbox 360 version of Sonic Unleashed so I have no opinion, as for the Wii version, I loved it. Never had an issue with the Werehog levels, but again, I have the Wii version and played originally with a GameCube controller. The story itself, same on both versions, I love. One of the best Sonic stories IMO, always manages to bring a tear to my eye.

Definitely. Spooky Big Boo with no face loaded. Still to this day, don't know what caused it. Maybe the rumors are true, every copy of Super Mario 64 is personalized. Ooooh, spoooooky! lol

Definitely a meme. I don't think even the YouTubers who advertise it take Raid seriously. The closest I play is Asphalt 9, and it's not even on a phone, it's on Switch, and I guess now, PC. Also World of Tanks Blitz, but again, on PC and Switch. I have a few mobile games I like, but my favorite is Sonic 1.

@EaglyTheKawaiiShika The Phineas and Ferb game had some care put into it, there was four levels that were basically days, you had to help Phineas and Ferb put that project together, while following a story that felt like it was out of the show. It's been awhile since playing it, but I believe Agent P had a boss battle. Yeah, 3DS has a bunch of great games.

Yeah, it was cool they did that for the first two Equestria Girls movies. Sadly the theater that showed Rainbow Rocks closed. I'm hoping the place I saw Trolls World Tour at stays open, that theater is almost 100 years old. That's got to be a historic landmark given it's still the original building. There were even curtains above the screen I saw Trolls on.

Calling Raid the devil made me laugh, lol. It is unfortunate too, the word "animated disaster" implies the person hated the movie, it also attracts people who hate said movie, and fans to leave a thumbs down. It was just an honest and calm review. Will admit, I love Nick said Poppy isn't annoying. People who hate Trolls will just jump to that insult, and ignore the other aspects that makes her a great character. Or they just watch the first few moments, and ignore what she does for Branch and Bridget, showing her more compassionate side. I could go on about Poppy.

Indeed. Game related, I'm probably one of the few who liked Sonic Boom and the GBA port of Sonic. Yeah they have their problems, but still enjoyed them. Especially since having Sonic 1 on the go was a novelty in the mid 2000s. You could only play it on a GBA, PSP, or a flip phone if you wanted Sonic 1 on the go in those days.

@MPSSislit Whoa! Long time no see! It's ok, I ended up being busier than usual last month between Christmas and such. I haven't seen the Ninjala anime in some time, but it's still going on. I loved that Lucy made a friend with Emma, especially given her backstory about losing friends, that made me smile.

@Tyranexx Think I'm gonna go with it, friend told me about Metroid Prime Trilogy too and the controls sound better to me. I got until March to get an eShop card, add it to my Switch, turn off my Switch, turn on my Wii U, and buy the game... isn't this a fun way to buy games, lol? Seriously considering it. Metroid Prime Hunters, I still have the demo that came with the original DS.

Silly me, those days I would sit on the bus to school playing it, sometimes sitting in the multiplayer lobby in hopes the DS picks up other DS systems for a multiplayer match. I was silly when I was younger, lol.

My suggestion:
1 Final Fantasy III NDS
2. Cooking Mama games
3. Minna no Conveni / Suizokukan / Doubutsuen
4. Ochaken no Heya games
5. Animal Boxing

No good deed

@Kermit1 Thank you for asking. I felt down (mainly due to productivity issues) yesterday, on top of experiencing a splitting headache. It's all better now. It's a good day to take it slow.

Bring me the sesame, miso, citrus and pepper flavored fish cakes

@Fizza Good luck with getting Black 2 or White 2 for a halfway decent price. Ghost Trick I've heard good things about, the original version of Apollo Justice, can't really think of any others off the top of my head.

@Fizza Here are my suggestions:

1. Castlevania Order of Ecclesia - absolute perfection!
2. Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow - a great sequel to Aria of Sorrow on the GBA.
3. Castlevania Portrait of Ruin - very dynamic game with lots of secrets and cool mechanics!
4. Final Fantasy III - it is a really great remake of the original NES game in 3D!
5. Resident Evil Deadly Silence - just a fantastic port of the original PS1 game that started it all!
6. Might and Magic Clash of Heroes - a fun puzzle game that is surprisingly fun even for me! I do not like pure puzzle games like Tetris, Dr. Mario etc.
7. Every Pokemon game on the DS! SoulsSilver/HeartGold are awesome for example

That is all for now from me

Fizza

@Anti-Matter I loved the Cooking Mama games myself growing up but never really dabbled in the sequels so thanks for the suggestion (I'll be sure to look into the other ones you mentioned as well)!

@TeaCatherine I've been flipping back and forth on Ghost Trick/Apollo Justice for the past bit myself: on the one hand I have everything I'd need to play them for the first time. On the other though, I've still got some (probably misplaced) hope for future re-releases on modern platforms (especially with how something to do with Ghost Trick got rated in Korea a few months back I believe) so I'm probably gonna hold off for now. Investigations might be a good shout though since I'm pretty sure it takes place during the original trilogy and thus wouldn't spoil anything for the future games 🤔

@Zuljaras I've heard nothing but good thing about the portable Castlevania's so I'll definitely look into those myself (though probably after experiencing the series proper through the current Switch collections 😅). Definitely intrigued by Might and Magic Clash of Heroes as well: never heard of it myself but I'm a very big sucker for puzzle games as of late so that'll definitely be going on the wishlist!

Quick question as well whilst I'm here: do DS games have region-locking? For example, my current one is a European DS and thus takes PAL/games with PEGI certification. Would it be possible then for me to grab an American or Japanese cartridge of a game I really, REALLY want like Pokemon HGSS let's say and play it anyway? Or would it just reject it before even booting up? Could be a detriment to eBay browsing if it's the former 😬

NDS games are Region FREE.
But started from NDSi games, they are Region LOCK.

@Anti-Matter When you say DSi games, are you referring to games specifically designed for the DSi or just the DSi itself? Because the DS I have is a DSi XL and if it's the latter then things could be very awkward.

@Fizza Wow, I did not realise that was so expensive, I suppose the holding off idea makes sense as well. As said previously, no region lock.

@Fizza
NDSi games cartridge have different color than NDS games.
NDS game cartridge color is Black, while NDSi is Grey.
NDSi machine can play NDS and NDSi games, but for NDSi games you have must matched with your NDSi machine Region.
I also noticed some NDS games (not NDSi) with first 3 letters TWL on its cartridge sticker are Region lock as those games have Camera feature on it.
From my experience, i have some NDS games with TWL code instead of NTR. Those games with TWL are during NDSi era and some of them have Camera or NDSi only feature, most of them still Region FREE but a few of them are Region LOCK as I have tested my Petz Fantasy NDS Australia version with TWL code was NOT detected on my 3DS USA and Japan version, but quickly detected on my 3DS PAL machine.
Pokemon Black / White 2 are also TWL code but they are Region FREE.

No good deed

@Fizza You thinking of getting the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games?

@TeaCatherine To be fair, I did pick a bit of a hyperbolic example but yeah: some of these prices are absurd XD

Got a new capture card (Elgato HD60X) and after two months I resumed recording my Xenoblade 3 Let's Play... man those issues took awhile to solve. So glad to be back recording what I believe'll be Episode 50 around now, just started Chapter 6. I still get chills.

@EaglyTheKawaiiShika Huh? I watched it and it said nothing about a region lock.
