See? Pig

@Snatcher Yeah i cant swim so the idea of being underwater fills me with a sort of terror that cant really be matched. I cant see or hear properly, i dont have normal control over my movement, and i cant breath. Add in an unidentifiable animal that's going to (at worst) eat me or (at best) watch me die and it's just bad news. At least I can smoosh bugs (PSA i dont - i'm a catch-and-release kinda guy).

@Eel I apologize. As long as you're in water less than 6 feet deep we should get along fine.

@Anti-Matter I just wanted to say that the PEGI rating system only affects the European video game market. I know that you don't live there so it won't really have an effect on your purchases unless you're regularly importing from Europe.

I know that you feel very strongly about age ratings on your games so you can likely just purchase from a different market that doesn't have this very specific clause in their ratings, such as ones with the ESRB rating system .

alpacatears

Anti-Matter

@alpacatears
Yeah.
There are some cases about purchasing games that i have to check from their age rating first, from ESRB, CERO and PEGI.
Example: The Sims 3 / 4 console version
ESRB = Teen (Okay),
CERO = C (Not okay),
PEGI = 12 (Okay)
So for The Sims 3 / 4 games on console version i will pick either USA version or PAL Europe version since they got rated with age rating that according to my golden rules, but i will not pick the Japan version since it rated CERO C and i only play Japanese games with age rating CERO A & CERO B.

Another example: FF XII The Zodiac Age.
ESRB = Teen (Okay),
CERO = B (Okay),
PEGI = 16 (Not Okay),
Asia English = 12+ (Okay)
So for FF XII case, i picked USA / Asia English version but i avoid PAL Europe version since every PEGI 16 & 18 games are prohibited in my gaming area.

Example of game that i will never allow despite it has ESRB = Teen.
WWE games.
ESRB = Teen with Blood in the game (Banned)
CERO = C (Not okay)
PEGI = 16 (Not okay)
Mild blood (some general RPG games) or Animated blood (Ratchet & Clank games) from video games are still tolerable for me but Blood from ESRB description (WWE games, Tales games started from Xillia, UFC) = instant banned even they are rated Teen.

I will only pick games with at least 2 acceptable age rating from different regions and some deliberation about the contents inside (checked from ESRB).

No good deed
Will I do
AGAIN...!!!

@Anti-Matter That seems rather arbitrary and doesn't really make sense. Odd that you won't allow WWE games, but from some of your other comments you are fine with boxing games.

I get that you might not want to play violent or overly sexual games or whatever, but to have a blanket ban on something purely because if the rating without considering why it got that rating just baffles me. Makes it even more baffling that you actively try to find loopholes in your own rules by playing the same game from another region because of the different ratings they use.

Anti-Matter

@dmcc0
When the games got rated in Teen age area, it need some deliberation before i make decision.
I will find the contents from ESRB rating, compare the age rating from other region and analyze the impact of the contents for my brain.
It took a long process for deliberation, considering from the age rating in three different regions, the game contents, the themes in game and something trivials.
From here i must think carefully, is that game still safe for me ?
Will i regret if i consider that game ?
Did i like with the things from that game ?

About the contents that i still tolerate or accept, here are the contents that i approved based on ESRB.

Cartoon violence, Mild cartoon violence, Comical mischief, Fantasy violence, Violence
Mild blood, Animated blood
Mild suggestive theme, Suggestive theme
Simulated gambling (from rated E & E10+ kids games)
Mild lyrics
Mild language, Language (from E10+ games as long no swearing)
Alcohol reference
Crude humor

About Boxing games, only certain boxing games i accepted, considering the age rating and the contents inside.
A Cartoonish Boxing games with age rating Everyone, Everyone 10+ / PEGI 7 / CERO A
(Wii Sports, Animal Boxing NDS, ARMS, K-1 Pocket Grandprix 1 & 2 GBA, Boxing from Mario & Sonic games, Boxing from Deca Sports Freedom XBOX 360, Boxing from Dual Pen Sports 3DS, Boxing from Sports Champions 2 PS3) are definetely YES for me since the violence level is milder than rated Teen / PEGI 12 Boxing games (Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions, K-1 games on PS2) with moderate violence level but still acceptable for me as long No blood spilling until it looked bloodshed like Fight Night and No brutal way to punch like UFC.

When i gave a ban for the game, that means there was at least one content that i have ZERO tolerance with them. Whenever i see these contents: Blood, Use Drugs, Coarse language, Gore, Strong violence, Strong sexual theme (Explicit Pornography), etc even just only one (like Tales of Xillia, Tales of Zethiria with Blood content from the anime style event or blood spilling from violence in WWE games or UFC fight) i will instantly ban that game.
And when i ban the games, they are not allowed in my gaming area and i will never like games with forbidden contents like that.

Well, that was the way i take some deliberation and process before considering the games.

No good deed
Will I do
AGAIN...!!!

@Anti-Matter Do you actually buy the version from a different region so as not to break your own rules? Is there a reason in particular that you don't like mature games, or just personal taste?

As for boxing games, it always puzzles me whythey are rated lower than WWE games. I guess it's likely that it's the weapons that are present in some WWE matches and the perception of violence rather than actual violence, but the TV broadcasts are PG-13 in the US and is essentially scripted/choreographed violence but a sport like boxing where you are literally trying to punch someone until they get knocked out is fine for a teen rating in a video game.

The distinction between cartoon violence and realistic violence in games can be a pretty fine line sometimes. I recently played Carrion, which I'm sure is PEGI18 as it's full of gore, but it's a pixel-art platformer and I'd argue that it's borderline cartoon violence and doesn't really deserve the 18 rating IMO.
