@WoomyNNYes Eventually, it will potentially get flagged for copywrite. Depending on how YouTube handles things, your account will be banned permanently (worst case) or you will be warned and the content taken down. I put up a speed run of Aria of Sorrow for GBA a couple years ago, and it got flagged for copywrite and I couldn't upload videos for 6 months as punishment. I wasn't even posting it publicly, nor was I monetizing the video. I just wanted to have it backed up somewhere.

@Zuljaras I don't follow those things, either, but I AM an Olympic lifter so I vaguely follow that stuff. Bulgarians are strong AF!!!

I wouldn't worry about copyright claims, its not like you want to earn money from the video, so they can claim it. A claim simply means they'll add ads and get the revenue for them.

If it's a strike though, I'm not sure how those work.

@BloodNinja ah there is one Bulgarian achievement in the Olympics that is still valid. High jump for women. Stefka Kostadinova jumped 2.09 meters in 1987. This world record is still unbeaten today

I'd agree, Rusev the Bulgarian brute was probably one of the strongest and most dynamic athletes in the wwe. Not to mention, one of my favorites. I bet most of the Bulgarian men are similar in stature and can rip someone limb from limb!

@Zuljaras I feel like a man would have a hard time trying to beat it too, Not trying to be sexist as I'm a man myself, But Woman are just more flexible and probably don't weigh as much, as dudes have strength to get them through the day. (Not saying woman can't be strong and not say men can't be flexible.)

@ogo79 I’m terrible with blow darts, I always failed that class. Much better with shuriken. Actual fun fact: I used to be able to throw ten shuriken at the same time from a single hand, and make them stick in the wood target. I’m very sad to have had to stop learning to use them, because I later discovered that owning them was a felony in my region so I had to move them along.

thats the fun part!
im kinda pretty good with my butterfly knife, i just gave away like 25 samurai and ninja swords to my nephew. look up butterfly knife injuries, its...yeah ouch

YouTube tech question

If up uploaded an episode of The Simpsons to my youtube, kept it as unlisted, (it's an mp4 that I ripped/converted from iTunes), do you think youtube will see it's copyrighted material & block it? Any idea what could happen as a result? Every time I've uploaded something to youtube, it says "checking for copyrighted material".

I'm not sure what penalty could be if the video get's flagged as copyrighted during the upload.

I'm not sure what the penalties are like nowadays. I got two strikes over 10 years ago (from Twentieth Century Fox) for posting short clips from Season 11 of King of the Hill, but after checking out my account standing a few years ago, there doesn't appear to be any strikes, so there is probably an amnesty period if you do not accrue any further strikes over a period of time.

Plus, I think YouTube is generally a little more relaxed concerning the sort of content that will get strikes. I think most will be fine so long as one isn't uploading full episodes of TV shows or movies.

I've also had a few clips that were "blocked worldwide", but I did not get any strikes for them.

All of the videos on my profile (I had about 200+ clips on my channel if memory serves) are now private though, and the copyright status has changed for a few clips over the years (including some that have been blocked or even unblocked later).

I had uploaded a fan video featuring footage from The O.C. yeaaars ago, but I think that was only copyright-flagged for the use of music, not for the clips themselves (though the clips were erroneously uploaded in 4:3, which may have bypassed the algorithm). The video never received a copyright strike.

If you do upload a video containing copyrighted material that is flagged and blocked, you may be able to view the content only from your end (as the owner of the channel), but others will not be able to, even if you send them an unlisted link. For example, my "blocked worldwide" videos are still visible to me (last I checked), but I can't share such clips with others.

In any case, I would refrain from uploading entire Simpsons episodes to YouTube unless it's a new/dummy account that you aren't afraid of losing in the event that it gets terminated.

@WoomyNNYes : I think I understand your reasoning, because I had (briefly) contemplated doing that for my own sister, but figured that the account would be swiftly terminated, so I didn't bother. I make Blu-rays for her instead, which typically contains around 12 hours of content per 25GB disc (so she won't have to swap discs so often), and I have bought the official copies of the content on DVD or Blu-ray specifically for the purposes of reconstituting the content to Blu-ray discs as I can't think of a better way to give her a substantial amount of content without subscribing to a streaming service (which I don't think would be wise in her case as a lot of content wouldn't be suitable for her).

And I was hesitant to provide a media box as she is always dropping her Blu-ray player as it is, and replacing a Blu-ray disc is a lot cheaper than replacing a hard drive.

@WoomyNNYes Sorry for not answering (though I'm not considering I was asleep!). I'm on UTC+3, plus an early sleeper. I've tried stuff like that before; concerning YouTube and I'm still not sure. Worst I've done is a fan edit of an F1 driver celebrating as he gets passed by five cars in half a lap, but that got demonetised. Not that I monetise anything to begin with.

Drive doesn't work, they automatically block stuff like that. MEGA maybe but I don't use it. If you wanna watch something with a friend I'd recommend setting up a Zoom or Google Meet, and playing it off Chrome by opening the file in Chrome. By dragging and dropping it into your browser.

Edit: on a side note one of my Gran Turismo videos got blocked in a handful of communist countries; Vietnam, and North Korea. They probably couldn't handle my godly driving.

@bimmy-lee No, I had almost no idea who he was, I just did some additional research, on his work, his life... I'm firmly of the belief that cancelling people's such a played out thing. People have done it so much to so many people who said idiotic things ten years ago. The situation is arguably better now because people begin with more exposure to these kinds of environments than they did ten years ago. Therefore people get taught how to behave and less people get cancelled. Most people getting cancelled now are born in the nineties, meaning they were teens when most social media became available (and that's the window where all the "dumb" stuff happens! )

@Tyranexx Comments are for cowards!

In all seriousness when I comment on a subject like "Sonic's Actor Says He's Here to Stay" you know that I'll be having fun instead of dealing with, as the great Hideki Kamiya said... "brainless insect". Personally I thought the Super Metroid article was fantastic. I say this comments garbage comes to an end! I now identify as apolitical!

Having said that I don't like headlines that exist just to attract trolls. You could have titled it "Wait... Samus was a Girl?! A case study of females in video games" and you would have a noticable difference in how this article is seen. I wrote such a case study a month ago... so I saw a lot of my own points in there. Ironically I completely forgot about Samus!

@Sunsy Interesting insights! It's awful that they plug the horror stuff in adverts, though part of the reason why is legal obligation the surprise can be kept. They could have made a small Freudian slip somewhere, even just one line, and it would have worked. The whole point of DDLC was to trick people after all. Either way my strange attachment to horror continues. Glad you enjoyed the second Boss Baby film; I looked up the plot and it's a fascinating take on the "sequel". Jesus that time jump must have been big.

But James Marsden as an adult interacting with a CG child-thingy. Where've I heard that before?!
