@WoomyNNYes Well, I actually became curious now, so I looked up a couple of reviews. Verdicts may vary, depending on your own preferences, but I think these reviews do a good job of explaining the differences and downsides of the Switch version, compared to others:

@Heavyarms55 Also ouch. I hope you weren't hurt in any way in that situation! I also didn't want to drive after that incident; heck, I've never been particularly fond of driving. Not that I hate it, but it's kinda boring at times, and I'm happier when there are very few other vehicles around. I'd love if they'd invent teleportation devices lol. Funny thing is, my parents were discussing getting a newer used "extra" vehicle for us to drive around anyway since the van was so old. I kinda made the decision for them. They still own the '07 Saturn Ion that replaced that van.

I didn't know there was a local PoGo group until I stumbled upon some of them at a Cresselia raid a few months into playing; I was trying to kill some time in the park the gym was in. At the time it was all organized via Facebook Messenger (ick), but later that summer someone created a Discord channel for the group. It's WAY more organized into different channels based on aspects of the game (PVP, raiding, trading, friend code sharing, etc.), separate trophy room, hall of shame, general chat areas, a thread dedicated to the console games, etc. There are even bots that we can use to report raids and prizes for certain tasks obtained at stops.

The channel's been a bit quieter lately due to the holidays, though. Some people only play during warmer weather.

Congrats on the shinies! Especially the Tentacool, been looking for one of those too. I'm not a morning person either, but I definitely wouldn't have minded waking up earlier if that was the payoff. XD

@ThanosReXXX Brief BotW update: I successfully beat up my first Stone Talus today! I stumbled across it on accident (They blend in well). It was on a small island in the middle of a lake; I just obtained the camera rune yesterday and have been trying to fill my Hyrule Compendium with pictures whenever I stumble across something interesting. I was trying to snap a shot of some waterfowl, thought the camera registered them, but instead...it was the inanimate Stone Talus. XD I was close enough at that point to trigger it to life, and decided I'd try to beat it up lol. It took some food, bombs, and quick maneuvering (and a beat-up Link, might've burned through a fairy), but I downed it!

Did quite a bit of exploring today, currently in the same region as the castle I believe. I don't intend to get TOO close to the castle; I learned the semi-easy way that that's a VERY bad idea if some roaming Guardians were anything to go by. Some freaky moments lol. I did manage to scale the tower there without dying, and I'm exploring a slightly quieter area of the region now. Also stumbled across my first normal Lynel...from a distance lol. I don't believe I'll be engaging that enemy just yet.

@Tyranexx Hey, must be a good car if it's still running after 13 years! I wasn't hurt, but to this day idk how. The driver's side window exploded in my face and yet I walked away without a scratch.

And yeah, those were a fun wake up surprise.

@Heavyarms55 It's a pretty decent car! It's been through quite a bit, too. I was involved in a mild fender-bender while driving it in college (Not my fault, got rear-ended when I was at a stop sign; I was fine, though I did have mild soreness/whiplash from the impact), and a single-vehicle wreck my sister was in (She was okay for the most part, a few scratches and mild whiplash). That last one took a bit of body work lol. It still gets a bit of use. My sister drove it to college sometimes before all her classes moved online, and my brother also drives it to work on occasion if he doesn't want to take his truck.

Dang, the window exploded? I would've expected at LEAST a few scratches from that! You are a very lucky individual. Please tell me the other party at least got ticketed.

@Tyranexx I was honestly to scared to ask. The cop made me drive the car home. Smashed door and shattered windows? Who cares?

But I am lucky I wasn't hurt!

@Tyranexx Ah, good on you! Sounds like you're really having fun with it, which I can most definitely relate to. And there's SO much more to discover. How's the "10 ways to catch fish" quest going, by the way?

And how many horses have you caught already?

And then there's setting fire to grasslands in the right way, shield surfing on snow, making/using rafts, using logs to cross small gaps between ravines/mountains, and so on, and so on...

@Eel yeah... and worse for you and my other friend. You both burned a remote. That's why I kept trying. But it was clear no one else was interested.

@Heavyarms55 Very lucky indeed! I'm surprised the cop made you drive it home. Sure it sounds like the vehicle could still function, but "safe", especially with broken glass? Definitely not.

@BruceCM Definitely! I don't plan on doing EVERYTHING - I'd likely be at it until at least mid-spring if I did - but I do want to try to do all the Shrines, upgrades, explore most areas, and at least beat most world boss-type enemies.

...And I just remembered there's DLC. I'll likely give the game a break before tackling that though. _{Hopefully BotW 2 is still a little ways out....}

@ThanosReXXX Heck yes I'm having fun! Not much progress on the fish quest other than some meh herding, by the way; I didn't spend much time near water during my last session. I've already unlocked 3/12 memories, one of which was near water (and said Stone Talus). I suspect I need to go to more regions on the map to find the rest.

On horses: I've caught a three so far and kept two; one that's easy to handle, but only three spurs. Another with a mind of its own, but with four spurs. My hope is to capture a couple later to see if I can find one that's the best of both worlds.

I've set a few fires for sure, though it's not something I try to do TOO often lol. Haven't tried shield surfing. As for rafts, I've found a few but haven't really used them (I suspect I need to use those special leaves to propel them...Shame they take up a weapon slot)

@Tyranexx Oh no. It wasn't safe. But the door didn't fall off and I was able to get in from the passenger side. So he made me drive it. :/

@Heavyarms55 I would've understood the logic if it was only the driver's side door that was messed up - I would've wanted to avoid a towing bill if possible - but the shattered glass to me is a definite NOPE. To me it would've made more sense to leave the vehicle for expert repairs and drive you back to the precinct and/or have you phone for a ride.

@Tyranexx the door was smashed in toward me. It was held in place only by twist and broken door parts. If I hadn't been so shaken, I would've been angry.

@Heavyarms55 Ouch, worse than I pictured; in my mind's eye it was somewhat dented and stuck shut from the impact. In any case, that vehicle should NOT have been driven anywhere until it had been repaired...if it wasn't technically totaled by that point.

@Tyranexx No it shouldn't have been driven. But we did manage to fix it. I drove it until it was almost literally falling to pieces years later.

@Tyranexx (I know, another late reply lol) Oh that's cool - that's quite a few. Most of the ones I've seen were from the Disney Rennaissance era, which makes sense since I was born in the 90s! Most of my memories were from pretty much the first half of that era (as well as Toy Story 1), but I've seen stuff like Hercules and Mulan too. It's just that I have vague recollections of them.

Shifting gears a bit, I finally got back to the Dragon Quest XI demo. Kinda wanna wrap it up before Christmas. Yeah, I play too much Animal Crossing. XD
