@Tyranexx
My BOTW still being neglected for more than 3 years.
I thought i bought wrong game that only have a little hype before buying but lost interest with it quickly after bought.
My Xenoblade 2 also neglected for same reason as BOTW.
I guess i'm not kind of gamer who was born with natural interest like most gamers here.
My natural interest is completely different.
@NintendoByNature Thanks! I do recall you mentioning playing through it again! No pointers needed yet - still adapting to controls, getting better about learning which buttons do what - but I'll keep you in mind if I get irrevocably stuck.
@HotGoomba___Rebrand, @Eel While I'm glad the authorities stepped in, fifteen years for something like that is indeed too short.
@Anti-Matter Maybe you just aren't into games with an open world format? Nothing wrong with that. Just play what you want.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
Does anyone know anything about the legal use of images for YouTube icons and banners? Am I able to freely use images for my icon, or what? Would I be able to use the images on the Nintendo wikias?
I'm kinda clueless when it comes to this legal stuff
@Tyranexx
Strangely, i quickly finished Yonder the Cloud Catcher Chronicles Switch last July 2018 within 8 days in a row and that game was an Open World style made by indie developer. And if i remembered, i played that game almost without walkthrough except for the final part before the end of story that i need to know the things i have to collected to finish the storyline.
@ThanosReXXX perhaps I misunderstood but it sounded like this person was modifying the console
@Eel Actually, no. All he did was connect the Switch to his PC, to try and read it/repair it, which is basically useless, unless you have some kind of dev kit. It could have been an interesting discussion, although not depending on me, since I didn't have any solution to offer him.
On an unrelated side note: that story about that Russian live streamer is absolutely horrible, and no sentence will ever be enough. You'd think that in Russia, they'd send him off to some kind of Siberian gulag, but I guess their morals concerning domestic violence and so on are indeed skewed compared to our more Western/liberal views.
@Tyranexx Did somebody say something about needing to try Animal Crossing?
I was actually actively playing it until the you-know-what hit the fan, and I had my crash and burn, a couple of months ago, and ever since then, I've found it hard to get back into, because I know it's such an enormous time sink. It IS a VERY relaxing experience to play, though, so I could very easily recommend it to any and all Nintendo Switch owners.
Glad to hear that you finally found the time to dive into Breath of the Wild, and nice to hear that you're also getting what everyone has been ranting and raving about all these years. But yeah, talk about yet another time sink. I think that between Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing, you'd be able to spend more than enough time to last you several years, if you want to discover and/or try out everything that these two games have to offer, especially Breath of the Wild, because as you may know, to this day, people are still discovering tricks or new ways to play certain parts of that game, as witnessed by the odd article popping up on NLife about that very topic.
@WaveWitch Well, even though I won't take any personal offense, I can tell you that I actually am 50 and I feel anything but "rusty and crusty". If anything, I feel better and far more confident than I ever was in my twenties or thirties, because I now truly know both my limits and my strengths/strong points, and besides that, my enthusiasm for video games is still as big as it ever was, much to my own surprise as well, actually. If you would have told my 18 year old self back then that I would still be playing games at this age, I'd probably had laughed in your face and called you a rambling idiot, but yet here we are, and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon either...
I guess it's true what they say, to some extent, that age is but a number. If I had to act my age according to general assumptions and views, I'd have to be all serious and grown up all the time, probably wearing clothes that are in my view more suitable for someone living in a home for the elderly, and rambling and muttering about "those young kids" nowadays.
Although, come to think of it, if I translate young kids to the social media-needy crowd, then I do think that there's actually a valid point to be found in there somewhere...
@Anti-Matter Something occurred to me yesterday: aren't you also playing Dragon Quest on the Switch, or didn't you already play any of the older games on other consoles/handhelds? If so, then you might also want to take a look at Blue Dragon on the Xbox 360. Far as I'm concerned, it's one of the must have titles for that console, and the character art/models are done by the same artist as in the Dragon Quest games, so that might possibly interest you. If not, then that's also fine. No need to elaborate on why you would not be interested. A simple thanks but no thanks will suffice...
@Tyranexx Glad you're having a good time with Breath of the Wild! I still have yet to beat it, but I still put a ton of time into it. I gotta finish it one of these days, lol. The Zelda games I've finished as of now were A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening (Switch), The Wind Waker HD, and A Link Between Worlds. Been working on Ocarina of Time and I might go back to the Oracle games too.
I did play a fair amount of Pokemon as a kid, though I just didn't get into the games nearly as much as my brother did. (He's a HUGE Pokemon fan, just like how I am with Mario!) I did watch a lot of the Pokemon anime though, specifically the first season, not so much the later ones. I do like Mega Man Battle Network quite a bit - I've always liked its battle system, but I only beat a few games in the series (I've finished 5 and 6).
I still remember when my bro went through a similar phase as you, though I've seen him play games based on Nickelodeon shows years ago (he was huge into SpongeBob and Fairly Oddparents). I haven't played too much licensed games myself (I tend to play it safe with Nintendo games), but I have played DuckTales Remastered and that was a good time. I've played a little bit of South Park: The Stick of Truth too. Oh, speaking of TV shows, I had a couple VHS tapes of Mario cartoons when I was much younger. I did like watching them back then.
"Give yourself the gift of being joyfully you."
Favorite game: Super Mario 3D World
AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
@ThanosReXXX
I have checked the gameplay of Blue Dragon from Youtube.
But.... It seems i wasn't impressed by the gameplay. 😕
Even the character design by Akira Toriyama, the design on Blue Dragon wasn't really appealing for me if i compared with Dragon Quest Builders 1 & 2.
Oh, btw. I played Dragon Quest Heroes 1 PS4 as i got the game last Friday.
Recently, i replaced Game Party in Motion with Kinect Rush Disney Adventures from my list as i found Kinect Rush looks better with 5 Disney Pixar franchises while i found bad reception about Game Party in Motion (the game felt like very mediocre shovelware Wii games).
Btw, what rated PEGI 3 and 7 Xbox 360 games do you play ?
@Anti-Matter Oh, well. I suppose I could have guessed your answer...
I will say this: a video of gameplay is not always the best way to find out if a game is for you or not. Sometimes, you need to actually play it for yourself to understand and to let the game click with you, meaning that you'll only get why it's good from personal experience. And Blue Dragon is a game that has received a LOT of praise from many media and fans alike, as well as being awarded for its great story. Anyway, moving on...
As for your question: games rated PEGI 3 and 7? Erm... probably hardly any, I guess, although I do own a lot of LEGO games and Disney/Pixar games, some on the Xbox 360, but especially on the Wii, so these will probably come closest to that.
@WaveWitch Haha, yeah, the 80s and 90s were a blast indeed. The start of just about anything, basically: gaming as a mainstream hobby, the internet, and so on, and all of it while it was still good and/or idiots or trolls were still a remote/isolated thing. The best thing of the no-internet 80s in that regard was game magazines: no idiot rants were ever posted, so even though they more than likely were already there (after all: the Nintendo vs Sega console war obviously WAS a thing), so enjoying your hobby and reading about it was in my opinion in many ways a far more enjoyable experience.
I personally despise social media and the surplus of the crowd that it attracts, bar the odd exception of a handful of good people, most of whom also happen to be hanging around here, coincidentally. Or maybe not all that coincidentally at all...
Where gaming at an older age is concerned: personally, I've always found that even though I do still enjoy it on any and all platforms and/or systems that I own, it's only with Nintendo's systems and games that I feel my face splitting into a stupid, ear to ear grin when I play them. Especially when I get acquainted with a new system or game for the first time. Maybe they don't always have perfect runs anymore, but probably 8 or 9 out of 10 times they manage to pleasantly surprise or impress me. They just have this way of making things click, or fall into place, if you will, once you get to grips with it, even if the initial impression of it isn't always mind blowing or massively impressive. And it's SO typically Japanese too, something that Sony has most definitely lost for the most part, because for all intent and purposes, they've become all but completely Westernized.
As for venting: think nothing of it and vent away, if you feel the need to. That's what this forum topic is for. Despite the label, Chit-Chat doesn't necessarily always have to be light or easily digestible, far as I'm concerned.
As for VR: no console version of VR has yet blown me away. The Oculus Rift however... now THAT is a mind blowing experience for sure. Especially with the high end tech demos, something that consoles are still not even remotely close to. What I would like to see is Microsoft's HoloLens, because AR is something that does interest me in consoles. I already enjoyed it in it's crudest form on the 3DS, so I'm pretty sure that I would enjoy it even more in full HD on a next gen system.
Funny you should mention Van Damme. I used to be a fan of his, having always been a martial artist myself.
I kind of moved from the classics such as Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris to Van Damme and Donnie Yen, although there's obviously plenty of others who ultimately made it big, who are also highly entertaining, such as Jet Li, Chow-Yun Fat and more contemporary ones such as Jason Statham.
But to circle back to Van Damme: I definitely agree with him on his sentiments of getting older. Personally I've found that although you do gather some more wisdom and knowledge over the decades, the inner mind pretty much stays the same after 30, well at least where it concerns myself. I don't know if that's the same for others, but my thought processes or tastes and views haven't changed much, if at all, these last two decades, so that's probably also why I still like gaming so much, but it is the physical part of getting older that will ultimately get to us: the mind will still want, provided it's still in good shape, but the container it's wrapped up in just doesn't respond as quickly anymore.
Even though I've all but stopped with my rigorous training and workouts ever since I took an office job almost 15 years ago, I do still try to get some exercise in every now and then, and even though I'm currently overweight, I can still do most of the kicks and moves from back in my better days, so whether that's simply muscle memory or actual relatively good health for my age, I don't know, but I welcome and continue to practice it regardless. You may never know when it might come in handy...
@NintendoByNature I'm definitely getting used to the game! Played a little more last night, got to where I can now leave The Great Plateau...without dying horribly. XD I legit didn't attempt that, and it was confirmed to be a foolish move. Not sure if I'll get around to playing tonight, depends on if I'm roped into another Among Us session.
@Anti-Matter Maybe it isn't so much open-world style games then, but the length? I looked up that game you mentioned on howlongtobeat.com, and it has a way shorter runtime compared to games like Breath of the Wild and Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
@ThanosReXXX You've actually hit on some of my hesitation to pick up New Horizons; games I already have aside, I know it can be a major timesink based off of numerous online impressions and the logged hours for some of those on my Switch friend list. The longest runtime is that of an online acquaintance who LOVES AC and logged well over a thousand hours into New Leaf, but I don't recall their current AC: NH figure. They're at least at 300+ hours.
On Botw: Thanks! I intend to sink some significant time into it - traditionally, I tend to play a long game or two over the winter - but I definitely won't 100% the game like with most other Zelda titles lol. I just plan on taking my time with it, seeing what the plot has to offer, and doing some exploring when I feel like it. I have no intention of rushing through it. I could definitely see myself going back to it every now and again.
@MarioLover92 I'm a huge Zelda fan, though I got into the series later than some; Twilight Princess on the Wii was my first game. I fell in love during my second try (first try didn't go so well) and since then have played every main series entry...except BotW and Four Swords Adventures on the GameCube. Funny story: I did pre-order BotW (nabbed the Collector's Edition), but pre-orders were only Switch bundles. So I owned the game, but until about a year ago I had no Nintendo Switch to play it on. XD I nearly grabbed the Wii U version, but I didn't want to double-dip on what I knew would be a VERY long game. The reason why I waited so long even after obtaining a Switch was because I wanted to knock some shorter games out of the way first...then new releases like XC: DE happened...and here we are.
I was a Pokemaniac as a kid; I absolutely loved the games, and I watched the anime up until its rights were acquired by Cartoon Network/Toonami; until that point it was on our local WB channel, but we didn't have cable or satellite. I believe the jump was towards the beginning of the Battle Frontier saga. Some of the voice actors were switched out too, if I recall. On the Mega Man Battle Network games....I own at least one version of the third BN game on up, but I wasn't able to play the first two until they hit the Wii U VC. The later games were definitely more polished - especially compared to the first one - but overall it's a fun little series.
There were more licensed games IIRC. They usually tend to get a bad rap, but there are some decent ones out there IMO.
@Heavyarms55 I did luckily pick up a 10k egg while playing earlier, so fingers crossed it's something I actually want. I did hatch a handsome shiny Alolan Meowth from a 7k. Second one, and from @Eel I believe! I did find a Froakie today in a non-water area; apparently there IS a chance of finding one, but the spawns are incredibly rare. Wish it had better stats though: 1/0/2 is not evo material lol.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
Talking about Pokemon Go, have you guys been able to find any fletchlings? I've been trying to complete that special research mission, but, there's literally no fletchlings spawning, not even showing up in the radar. Sigh, and the time limit is almost over.
I did find a shiny Bronzor while looking for that though, so that was nice.
@ThanosReXXX Ah well. Oops! Too late to go back on that now 😅
