@Heavyarms55 oh it caught me completely off guard, only realized it was today because I got a notification from the game. And got lucky finding the first two shinies with an incense at home.

I caught five, two of which were fairly decent stat-wise. I also accrued enough candy to fully evolve three Mudkip, so I evolved two decent normies and the best shiny. I'm keeping the rest of the shinies as bartering chips. I might trade the other decent shiny to a friend actually.

I was only out for the last hour and a half though. My local PoGo group was running a competition during the event for who could catch the most shinies. The record was fifteen. O_O

@Morpheel Nice! I keep my phone on silent as a habit from work. Was home all day (yesterday for me here in Japan) and never bothered to check my phone until I plugged it in before bed to make sure it'd be charged for the next day. Can you tell people don't call me? And I can check most other messages on my PC.

@Tyranexx oh I have terrible luck with shiny stats. All four were terrible to mediocre. I did manage to get a good regular mudkip to evolve though.

@Heavyarms55 haha I'm kinda the opposite, since I need to stay alert to messages because of work. I don't really get any calls from anyone besides my mom or brother though...

Well there's always the phone scammers, I guess.

Seeing Order lose was really damn sad IMHO. Not a single point.

@Morpheel That's one thing I am really glad I don't need to worry about. My weekends are mine. On rare cases they need me on a weekend, I always get plenty of notice.

I normally leave my phone on silent at work unless I'm expecting a call. Sometimes I even shift it into airplane mode to conserve battery when I'm not using it. The problem is, I sometimes forget to kick it out of airplane mode or off silent. XD We're allowed to field personal calls if we get them, but not in excess.

And yes, the spam calls are getting out of hand. That's one of the reasons why I started leaving it on silent again.

@Morpheel My best normal Mudkip was ironically one that hatched from an egg awhile back. I hadn't done anything with it though as they're extremely rare spawns around here, which is why I went a little nuts with Pinap berries. The other decent normie was one that I caught that wasn't quite as good, but still worth it IMO.

I normally don't have much luck with finding decent shinies either, but the two best ones were worth two stars under the new rating system that was pushed in a recent update. Previously, all of my shiny catches either ranged from horrible to mediocre.

Oh well, yes my weekends are sacred unless they have a very good reason. I also get paid for those situations.

But since I work from home, all our communication is via text, so I rarely silence my phone.

About the new pokemon rating system, it kinda removed some personality from it but it's so much more convenient! I love that you can swipe over to get the next Pokémon on the list rated instantly.

I like the new rating system, but I do agree that it killed the personality of it a little. I was using a third-party tool before called Calcy IV, but it was fussy sometimes. I don't do PvP much, but I do care that nobody is taking any gyms TOO easily....

My weekends are likewise sacred. My manager and the support team can contact me either via Slack or text if it's really needed, but a situation where I have to work on the weekends is extremely rare these days.

I get so few calls that I enjoy talking to scams. Plus, I figure the more time I waste with them is less time they could get someone else.

I actually don't remember for sure what my ringtone is. I vaguely remember being scared the last time I actually heard my phone go off with the volume on because it's such an abnormal thing for me and I live alone - so any noise I hear, should be me.

We went to my parent’s lake place Saturday afternoon to escape the heat a bit. It was all fun until I woke up yesterday with the worst sore throat of my life, and I’ve had mono. The only thing I could eat yesterday was a single can of soup. Now today, it’s like it never happened. I think I accidentally swallowed a crawdad while swimming, and it latched on to my throat to keep from being digested. That’s my theory at least. Wondering if anyone else may have an alternative explanation?

@Tyranexx Well, to be totally honest, subbed text is more or less kind of the next best thing, because I actually wasn't looking to lower text, but for how to make the font size smaller. I asked a general question about that a couple of pages back, but got no conclusive answer, so I guess lowered text will have to do for now...

As for the phone discussion: how about setting it to vibrate instead of completely silent? That's what I do when I don't want to be disturbed, or when I used to be in an office, so I still noticed being called. I myself made the mistake of setting it to completely silent once, and only noticed it right before going to bed that night. Got quite a few angry and/or distraught people on the phone the next day, because they all wondered what the heck had happened...

@bimmy-lee I might have been able to come up with something inventive, if I only knew what a crawdad was...

@ThanosReXXX - A crawdad aka crayfish aka crawfish aka mudbug is a freshwater crustacean that closely resembles a very small lobster. I don’t know how they’re distributed throughout the world, but around here; they’re in every body of water, usually hiding under a rock in shallow areas. Their tails are edible, but it’s more of a southern dish in the states. I’ve had a killer plate of crawdad etouffee.

@bimmy-lee Well, if it's small enough to accidentally swallow, then I'd sooner liken them to shrimp.
Either way, I don't think it really latched on to the inside of your throat. It's more likely that the sharp ends of it's body, such as tail, claws or underside, scraped your throat a bit, leaving it a bit raw or inflamed.

The reason why it's now already fixed, is more than likely because of the enzymes/disinfectants in saliva, which is why little cuts and so on in the mouth are almost always healed far quicker than any cuts or scrapes on the outside of your body.

@ThanosReXXX He was being silly. You can’t accidentally swallow a crawdad. They’re about the size of a kiwi fruit, on average.

@HobbitGamer So, they're actually not that tiny, then. I thought shrimp-sized, which could easily be swallowed, but now I'm thinking gambas...

@ThanosReXXX - As Hobbit mentioned, I was being silly. They’re way too big (and fast in short bursts) to accidentally swallow. I’m just baffled by the fact that I had a sore throat which put me in a fetal position one day, and then I’m fine the next. You have, however, explained the frozen pizza conundrum. Every time I eat one, I destroy the roof of my mouth, but then it’s fine the next day.

@HobbitGamer - Do you eat them in GA, or is it more of a Delta/Gulf thing?

@Anti-Matter - Looks delicious. The only carp served around here are catfish, and I’ve had a sweet and sour catfish plate. It’s not my favorite fish, but I can enjoy it. Especially when it’s fried in a cornmeal batter.
