hello everyone. im confused about something and i want you guys to answer to the best of your knowledge. im confused about the sequel to mario world. lets start with the most obvious. mario world 2. i know that its considered a prequel but hear me out. what if its just a retelling of what happened. like someone is telling mario the story of what happened because i believe in the begining of the game it says this happened along time ago or something like that. then that could be mario 5 (because world is 4 do the sequel would be 5) now if im completely wrong and its a prequel then theres two other options. theres new super mario bros which is very likely because it is the next game in the super mario bros series (the bros series are the sidescrollers with bros in the name the only excetion is world because they named it differently here on america and the super mario series are the 3d ones) then there is the next most likely sequel. new super mario bros wii. i say this is very likely and just a little bit more likely then new mario bros 1 because its the next console sidescroller. so what do you guys think?

No, but Wrecking Crew is definitely late in Mario's life, as he no longer can jump due to faulty knees. Yoshi's Island is obviously the first chronologically, and it also explains Super Mario Bros. 2. Mario subconsciously remembered the traumatic images of Shy Guys trying to kill him as a baby, and they rested deep in his brain only to come out again in dreams.

Early in his life, Mario took a long time to settle on a career. He tried refereeing boxing and tennis matches, but he yearned to be part of the action rather than just judging it. He settled on plumbing for a long time (most of the platformers), but later in life he eventually realized he needed to make more money to impress the ladies. He went to pharmacology school and became a doctor (Dr. Mario). Unfortunately, Luigi's addiction to over-the-counter opiate-based drugs (developed after a short stint as a ghost hunter---he just really needed to escape the nightmares, man) caused Mario to lose his license. You see, Luigi stole some drugs while visiting his brother at work, but Mario took the fall. That's why Mario eventually had to settle on a construction job (the aforementioned Wrecking Crew).

Best. Post. Ever.
But where does Luigi's Mansion fit into this? And how about Mario Pinball?

Well, you see, Mario's always had a repressed sinister side. He's the one who gave Luigi the mansion. Things weren't going to well as a pharmacist, and he needed some cash, quick. He can never forgive himself for indirectly causing his own brother's addiction, but that's medics for ya.
As for Pinball Land... well, not even Luigi's been able to get anything out of him. Mario's still locked in his room in the fetal position.

Wow. That was deep. You left out his starting career as a carpenter. So technically, Mario started out and ended with being a construction worker.
I think the most important thing to figure out right now based on recent developments is...Where does Super Mario 3D World fit into the Mario timeline?
A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs. It's jolted by every pebble on the road.
My guess is Hotel Mario was the last game Mario spent in the Mushroom Kingdom. In the final cut-scene of the game when Mario rescues Peach, she kisses both Mario and Luigi. Mario, who did all the work of rescuing her, felt a very strong resentment towards Luigi, as he realised Peach was more attracted to Luigi's thinner and taller body than his own. He decided to go into pharmaceuticals so he could could have a better job, and be more desirable than his more physically attractive brother.
Why anyone believes that game franchises such as Mario and Zelda must follow a specific timeline is beyond me. Just play the games and have fun. If you want a franchise where you can enjoy looking for continuity between titles then for god sake you really are looking at the wrong ones.
