Speaking of weapon combat games, ANyone play the Bushido Blade series on PSone? Not to many people liked it cause of the one hit death structure but I thought it was unique as well. I still have my copy.
Bushido Blade is one of those games I found out way too late and couldn't get a hold of. It looks great though.
Not really. I'm more into fighting games that are just kinda crazy, like SSB and Photo Dojo. I usually can't grasp combo systems well. I'm more of a person who button mashes and hope they win.
@HolyMackerel: Yeah I know what you mean I bought it years ago and loaned it to a co worker who ended up getting fired and disappearing not long after I loaned it to him. It took me years to track down another copy at a decent price ended up finally finding one on Ebay for 35 dollars. I am still looking for Bushido Blade 2

If the only fighting game you ever played was Smash Bros, then this Thread is not for you.

I also like Killer Instinct on the SNES, even though I haven't played that game in ages. Miles better than Mortal Kombat, imo. Tekken 3 on the PlayStation (or at least the demo of it in a demo CD) was the first fighter game I played. Fun game, I also like playing as the character Gon.

Gon was awesome, love playing as that little dino. Mokujin is really cool too, but you better make sure you've mastered all of the other characters though.

...You call those games crazy?

Guilty Gear and Marvel vs Capcom are the very epitome of craziness in video games. compared to those, Super Smash Bros feels like a turn based RPG
EDIT: oh and by the way, xkhaoz, Bridget is usually considered to be the worst Guilty Gear character in the game
I'm not sure I would count Guilty Gear as a typical weapon-based fighter like Soul Calibur. A few do use swords, but hmm... a lot of them use their fists or their wings or yoyos or dolphins or their hair or parasitic demon ghosts lol. I'm not sure how I'd categorise it.
Samurai Shodown is fantastic, but yeah it's very tactically-oriented. Another one of those thinking man's fighting games. Certainly not a game for new fighting game players.
True. And speaking of Weaponized Fighting games, I need to take another crack at The Last Blade 2 someday. I loved that game so very much! <3 Hard as hell, though. I really need to try and be more persistant this time, like I was with Mark of the Wolves.

yes, i wholeheartedly agree. although i love the Smash Bros series, i dont consider it a real fighting game. it feels kinda like a action/puzzle game instead to me. sorry Smash Bros fans

It's a party action game, more like it. But is Powerstone a fighter?
=mickeymac Just outta curiosity, do you have any Fighters on the VC?
No arena fighters. I've obtained most of the fighters I wanted on cartridge or disc over the years. As far as beatemups, I only have Final Fight 3 right now.
I forgot about Killer Instinct. I played that a lot in junior high. I should have mentioned World Heroes. The first one was ok, but World Heroes 2 was awesome.
After playing them some more, I'm really liking BlazBlue and Act Cadenza now, despite their balancing issues. In fact, I'm not sure why I was so anal about it before, I'm just fighting the CPUs.:/
@Mickeymac Do you have the PC version of the game? It has a fan-made netplay client (as well as an English translation which rocks). I'm way out of practice though.
But still, local multiplay is where it shines. 4-player mode is insanity. In a good way.
Use to love them but I played the genre to death. I still play them once & a while. Despite loving them I always found them to be a bad value when purchasing. Since I don't have very many friends into video games in the same way (especially fighting games) multiplayer was out and the single player is always extremely shallow. Fighting games should really be half the price of other games especially when they are a sequel or use rehashed sprites, music, or models.
