My love for the Versus series knows no bounds. MvC 1 and 2 were amazing, and I'm really looking forward to number 3. I may get a PS3 just for that!

I've always wanted to play Darkstalkers! It looks like a great series and I wish I hadn't missed out on it. Are there any upcoming or recent releases I could get?

@Mickeymac Were you playing as Red Arcueid? She's not overpowered in ver.B anymore lol. For the most part (excepting joke characters like Neko-arc and Neko-arc Chaos), even low tier characters can stand up against high-tier ones.

Also... wow, they'd have to make a really insane boss for him to top the previous SNK bosses. Sheesh. Nightmare Geese in 2002 UM is crazy enough as it is! It's good to hear they introduced some more characters in the home console version. I think I'll wait on KOF XIII before returning to the series though. Some of my favourite characters are returning in that game.

I like Fighting gaems.

My favorites are Soul Calibur 2, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Mortal Kombat 3, Street Fighter II, Tekken 3, and Super Smash Bros. Melee.

My favorite of the the bunch would definitely be Melee, though.

I haven't checked out KOFXIII in a long time. I guess I better go do that.

I haven't faced Nightmare Geese, so he may actually be tougher, who knows. This other guy turns fighting into bullethell! Gah, there's stuff flying everywhere!

Also, I'm just assuming the horribly evil guy is the boss. I mean, isn't that usually how it goes? You'd think it would be. Red Acruied isn't the boss when you play as...I can't even pronounce his name. The dude in the cape, and I'm quickly finding that he's not the most overpowered and cheap character, but he's still damn close. Nothing like defeating you opponent before they hit the ground. ;3

Darkstalkers has recently been released on the PSP as "Darkstalkers Chronicles: The Chaos Tower", and a Darkstalkers Collection is available in Japan for the PS2, known as the "Vampire Darkstalkers Collection" abd is available as a "CapKore" rerelease, at least on Play-Asia.

Oh, and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is awesome. Heck, the whole Capcom Versus series is incredible, except for MvC1, but I only played the PSOne port, which apparently wasn't very good.

Ahh Warakia. He's mid-tier in ver.B, definitely not a boss-type character anymore.

Nightmare Geese has a normal move which shoots four projectiles from the air. >_> God Rugal's HSDM is around 15 fast-moving projectiles which OTG. Bullet hell indeed lol. I need to see the KOF XII boss, I'll look up some Youtube videos.

The PSOne version of MvC was alright, but IIRC it didn't have the crossover mode where you can bring both characters out at once for a period of time. It's mindblowing! You can usually get 2 or 3 hyper combos out at once with it. I don't think crossover is in any of the other Versus games either. Also MvC is far more balanced than MvC2, probably due to the smaller roster... Not that the Versus series is known for its balancing.

Hmm, I don't have a PSP. Maybe I'll get the PS2 Darkstalkers collection then. Any porting problems with it? Slowdown, glitches, missing characters or games?

Darkerstalker Collection? No problems that I know of, but I only read two reviews, haven't played it myself (no JP PS2, it's price is too good to ignore so I may pick it up soon just to put it on my mantle). The Collection also comes with Arranged versions of the Vampire Savior games, so it sounds like you're getting the best possible deal.

MVC2 may have been less balanced, but I thought it was more fun.

Yeah, those bosses sound majorly hectic! XD Oh, and there is no boss in KOFXII...yeah...not even in the home ports.

@Mickeymac Then I'll be getting Darkstalkers Collection for Christmas! And yeah, MvC2 was far more fun! It's not about balance, just insane fireballs and laser beams and spinning kicks everywhere.

Oh wait, there is one fighting series I like, Tekken, I only own Tekken 1, 2 and 3 on my PS1. Yoshimitsu is my favorite character in the series.

Yoshimitsu is great character, so weird and technical.

@HolyMackeral

I spammed the music thread on another forum with Fighting Game music just last week, so yeah, I do like fighting game music. I think you picked the best ones, though, plus way more. Good on ya man!

Hope you enjoy the Darkstalkers series, its one of my all-time fave series and having it all on one disc must be awesome.

@TheLonelyGamer The main Tekken series went downhill after 3 imo, so that was a good place to stop. Loved 3. So much awesome music. Tekken Tag Tournament was great too.

Yoshimitsu appears in a few other games too, including the Soul Calibur series.

Tekken 3 music! An amazing blend of electronica, funk and rock. The composers were geniuses, I tell ya! I used to sit on the options screen playing BGMs because they were so good.

IMO, Tekken 5 was worth it just because it was better than Tekken 4 and had Tekken 1-3 on the disc, along with a fun shooter (THAT'S NOT XEVIOUS! Finally!).

I grew up in during the time of Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and Fatal Fury were all popular. You couldnt walk into an arcade at that time and not see a long line at those game. So yeah I love fighting games. My two favorites are Street Fighter series (Although I didnt like SF III at all) and the Tekken series and I so cant wait for Street Fighter X Tekken . I also like the MK series although I stopped playing them after MK4 I was disappointed with that series up until MK vs DC. Another one that I really liked is the Soul Caliber series mainly cause of its uniqueness in that it uses weapon combat. One series that I wish would come back is the Killer Instinct series.

You should check out Guilty Gear for some good 2D Sword Combat if you haven't already. Same with Samurai Shodown, but it's a helluva lot more methodic and not for everybody. I like it, but I gotta get my butt kicked 5 times before I adjust to it.

I'm not sure I would count Guilty Gear as a typical weapon-based fighter like Soul Calibur. A few do use swords, but hmm... a lot of them use their fists or their wings or yoyos or dolphins or their hair or parasitic demon ghosts lol. I'm not sure how I'd categorise it.

Samurai Shodown is fantastic, but yeah it's very tactically-oriented. Another one of those thinking man's fighting games. Certainly not a game for new fighting game players.

@Mickeymac: I did play a Samurai Showdown years ago on the SNES and it was pretty fun. I am guessing that cause I remember playing that game almost non stop for awhile with my brother so I guess it was fun.

Speaking of weapon combat games, ANyone play the Bushido Blade series on PSone? Not to many people liked it cause of the one hit death structure but I thought it was unique as well. I still have my copy.

Not really. I'm more into fighting games that are just kinda crazy, like SSB and Photo Dojo. I usually can't grasp combo systems well. I'm more of a person who button mashes and hope they win.
