So I just got braces earlier today. At first they didn't seem too bad, but now my teeth hurt so badly that I can't even chew. I tried eating a hamburger, but it hurt too badly to chew even the bread, so i just had to suck on individual pieces and drench them with saliva until they broke down enough for me to choke them down. Yeah, that's pretty frickin' gross, sorry But I bet these new-fangled braces are a hell of a lot better than older ones. At the very least, I don't have to wear head gear. So what are your experiences with braces? And how long will it take until I can actually eat solid foods again? :P

Currently wearing braces.

Somehow I managed to down two hot dogs (pain included) on my first day of wearing them, but it'll subside.
Just make sure to regularly brush and floss, as well as cleaning the wires out. Food will get stuck in them a few times over.

As for how long I had mine in, since November last year. One thing I'm surprised at is how braces are seen in a different light currently, as some sort of fashion statement. Knew a few girls that always had rather colorful braces (with colorful bands).

You can always take pictures with your braces on though - my friends always remind me. It'll be fun to compare the before, during and after.
