@Octoguy @RPGamer I keep wanting to continue my FE3H Golden Deer playthrough, but there's just not enough time in the day before/after work to play both and also eat, shower and sleep a decent amount.

When I was younger I might have just sacrificed sleep, but I've learned I pay a nasty price the next day for doing that. Perhaps several years of a very regular sleep schedule have made it hard for me to behave like I did in university... God that makes me sound old, I'm only 28! DX

Hey all- good discussion here! Returning to the backlog topic…Much of my backlog is games I’ve started but for whatever reason, lost momentum and put aside for something else. The most notable JRPGs being:

Ni No Kuni. Love the art, music, story, world, and characters. But the combat feels a bit janky…50 hrs in I still feel like I don’t “get it.” Also I just got worn down & overwhelmed by the sheer number of familiars to sort through and choose from. Maybe I will come back to it someday; I really want to love it.

Octopath. Started off really strong for me… I liked the combat (“break” system is really cool), music, and retro feel. But again, about 40 hours in I started to lose interest…Overwhelmed by the number of NPCs and side quests (and there’s no system to track your side quests), plus the overall lack of synergy between the different characters’ stories. I like to think I’d go back and replay different stories, but that seems a dauting prospect.

Maybe I just need to get over The Hump with those games…Same thing almost happened to me with Xenoblade 2; combat was tough to learn and I nearly put it down after ~50 hours. But I stuck with it and it ended up being one of my fave games of all time. Certain environments from that game (Uraya, Gormott, esp Torigoth town) have stayed with me dare I say more than BOTW, which owned my life for several months.

Anyone have a similar experience (with NNK or Octopath, or something else)? Any advice for pushing through?

@Heavyarms55 I love New Horizons so far. Like New Leaf, it makes for a good, chill-out kind of game. Been getting some neat stuff for my island and house, too I do wish there were Nintendo-themed items in the game, because I want to give my house that Mario flair, but I'm sure they'll come with future updates. My apologies for the somewhat late reply, just haven't been on Nintendo Life for a while.

@RPGamer Haha yeah, I had intended it to be Supernintendo_Chalmers but settled on this due to character limits — glad the joke still comes across

Octopath Traveler is really good but IMO everything just got to be a bit too sprawling. As a completionist I had to fight the urge to try to keep all 8 characters at the same level, which ended up feeling grindy and wore down my enthusiasm. Making a more concerted effort in a given playthrough might actually be the way to go for me..when I pick it back up again that's what I'll aim for...

@SNES_Chalmers I agree with you concerning Ocotpath Traveler. I really liked the art style, and to have to recruit all 8 characters with each their story, but as a completionist as well,the game was feeling tedious toward the end (and some story were really more interesting than other)

I have never seen again Chibi style anime after Chibi episodes from Prince of Tennis and Chibi Naruto anime.
I really miss the quirkiness and cuteness from their Chibi style.
Even some Japanese peoples not really interested so much with Chibi style.

I'm surprised no one's ever done a Final Fantasy anime...

But seriously, I think it would be cool to let some talented people make an original story but with Final Fantasy things in it. Have it be like the unofficial next Final Fantasy.

@RPGamer - Which anime would I like to see as a game? Well...we got PS1 games for Ghost in the Shell and Vampire Hunter D back in the 90's, although neither were very good. I'd like someone to purchase a license and give either those another go as they're two of my favorite anime still to this day.

Which game would I like to see as an anime? Probably Diablo. There's a wealth of lore in the games that would translate well into an animated series. But it would probably have to be a Netflix series, what with angels and demons making sexy-time to accidentally create the Nephalem, probably wouldn't work as a Saturday morning cartoon.

Wait did I mention Fragile Dreams? Ok there's my answer. Fragile Dreams is the only video game I've played where I'm upset they wasted it on being a video game. The part where you play it sucks, the rest of it is amazing. So just make it an anime. That would be perfect. No one would care about it except me probably but hey...

Whether you play a physical copy or a digital copy of a game is irrelevant.
