@RPGamer - Excited for the new Paper Mario? Yes. Will I ever get around to playing it? Doubtful. I have so many 100+ hour-long rpgs on my backlog I'm not sure when I would get around to it.

Xenoblade Chronicles DE is almost upon us.

@RPGamer I'm cautiously optimistic for Origami King. I still have some questions about its ring battle system, but from what I could tell it's already looking better than the last two games. The storyline looks intriguing and the visuals look amazing. I just hope that I won't have to deal with those stupid stickers again...Sticker Star was a massive disappointment for me.

@RPGamer From what I've seen, Clubhouse Games looks pretty good. There's something for everyone here and all the games look like they play well. I didn't preorder it, but I might pick it up one of these days. Oh and I really like the Mario cameos

@RPGamer

Clubhouse Games looks an excellent value proposition, if nothing else. The only problem I have with boardgame video games is that the computer AI is either laughably easy or brutally difficult. Even if there's a difficulty slider, it's invariably one side or the other.

I've pre-ordered 51 Worldwide Games. It looks great (apart from its rubbish European title) and I'm excited to try out all the different games. I hope the AI is good but even if it isn't, at least there's online so I can still play it without having to have someone else to play it with in person. Also have they said whether there'll be pass-and-play style multiplayer in handheld mode? I expect there will be since the card games wouldn't really work on the TV in local multiplayer because you'd be able to see your opponent's hand.

@RPGamer Haha I believe I know what you're getting at. I myself need to finish Ys 8 before going into that particular abyss.

@RPGamer - It would be exciting...if I hadn't already played through most of the games you just listed. And it'll be a while before my online orders for Xenoblade and the new Shantae game arrive on my doorstep. So from that perspective it's a rather uneventful Friday.

Well, I haven't started XCom 2 yet, @RPGamer ... But Enemy Within/Unknown has quite a few options for the difficulty, beyond the usual 'easy', 'normal' & 'hard'
While there is permadeath, it's thus up to you to try to keep your units alive or to weigh up if it's worth restarting the battle, etc, if one gets killed

@damien33ad Dragon Quest XI S.

You don't even need to shell out any money to give it a shot. A 6 - 10 hour demo is available on the eshop, and, if you end up liking it, you can buy the full game and continue from where you left off in the demo.

@damien33ad The original release of XI on PS4/PC had what sounded like MIDI tracks, but the Switch re-release opted for a fully orchestrated version of the soundtrack instead, and although it's a bit limited in terms of track diversity, what's there is great.

Anyway, if you're new to RPGs, I think it's a great fit. The game's difficulty curve is very accommodating, it looks and sounds gorgeous, and unlike Xenoblade Chronicles, the combat is intuitive. You only meet a few characters in the demo, but you'll amass a large, varied party over the course of the full game, and the story, while somewhat rudimentary, is still engaging and sometimes intensely emotional.

The series also has a storied history on Nintendo consoles and is nearly as old as The Legend of Zelda, so I think it's a series any Nintendo fan should at least try. XI S celebrates this history with a lot of callbacks to older games in the series, as well as the neat 2D mode (I don't remember if this is available in the demo), which makes the game look and play like an SNES title.

Anyways, new question for you guys/gals/non-binary pals. Are you excited for Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury?

Well, I guess my time has come. :V

I don't usually buy games I already own so the 3D All Stars means nothing to me (especially as someone who can actually enjoy games at less than amazing resolutions), outside of being glad these games are on current hardware. 3D World I'm more interested in, but only with the possibility of Bowser's Fury having a significant amount of content. And I'd probably still wait for a discount.

If anything I'm actually more interested in the other weird Mario games coming out. Even the Mario Game and Watch, simply because I've never owned a Game and Watch.

"Are you excited for Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury?"

I was okay, not really surprised as i knew it will be on Nintendo Switch. 🙂
I guess i will consider the bundle but after i get some rare PS2 & PS1 games and the peripheral from my local game shop first.

"Are you upset about no Super Mario Galaxy 2?"

Nope.
I can consider Mario Galaxy 2 Wii version from Ebay.

@RPGamer Personally I'm more pumped for 3D World + Bowser's Fury. Not just because I'm a massive fan of that Wii U classic, but Bowser's Fury has the potential to make the whole package more enticing. I'll need to know more about it, of course.

I'm pretty excited for 3D All-Stars. I definitely like how 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy are gonna be on the Switch, so that's more Mario games I can take on the go - and the Switch has been my most played console anyway! I will admit that I wish they remastered the graphics and soundtrack and it is indeed kinda baffling that Galaxy 2 isn't included, but it still looks like a solid collection. I really like how Sunshine has 16:9 and 1080p visuals too. I have preordered it on Amazon too, because, well, I love Mario. XD

@RPGamer Yeah that could be a possibility about Galaxy 2 being added as DLC, maybe they'll do that if they decide to put it on store shelves and the eShop again. I've seen people say that they might release those 3 games separately on the eShop once 3D All-Stars gets delisted. I could see that happening.

I even like the Game & Watch that they're making. Being a massive Nintendo fan I can see myself getting my hands on it. Not mind-blowing of course, but it's a neat novelty. I can't wait for Mario items to appear in New Horizons, either - once next March comes I can finally give my house and island that Mario flair I've always wanted!

And yeah...like most people I don't care for those shovelware games either. I still remember that the Wii was flooded with those kind of games. Give me Mario, Zelda, Sonic, Mega Man, etc. any day. XD

Speaking of RPGs, Nintendo needs to remaster the Baten Kaitos games. I know Xenoblade is Monolith's main focus these days, but they are a more popular now than they were back then. Have another studio remaster BK, and then put "from the makers of Xenoblade" in the marketing. It would be easy money, and more exposure for some overlooked gems.

@judaspete Good idea, as Monoliths most likely busy with BOTW 2 assistance and that new IP they've been talking about forever. I still really want an X port, but I'm kinda done with Wii U ports by now.
