Does anyone know why Valve isn't interested in portables.
Pride.
I'm pretty okay.

Waiting for this game: [youtube:WtcGiZelPfk] Mari0 is a mix of Portal and Super Mario Bros. and is made by Stabyourself like Not Tetris which was once in NL news. Hopefully they'll get it ready soon so I can download it
But what's the point of that? It looks like it's just SMB with portals. The level design isn't built around the portal gimmick, you might as well play through it normally.
If you're looking for good, puzzle-based 2D Portal action, try Portal: The Flash Version. It was well made, and they went on to create a fantastic level pack you can download for the original Portal, full of new gameplay ideas, which is a must if you haven't played it yet.

I don't think we're allowed to talk about hacked games or ROMs on here...

EDIT: Why is always the first level of Super Mario Bros.? What about Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, The Lost Levels? Show some originality people!

@tendo It's not a hacked game/ROM. It's an innocent Flash fan game on the Internet. Don't tell me you've seen Nintendo Life take down topics about those. everybody went crazy over mario bros. crossover when it came out for a while

Ah, finally something meaningful in this topic! I've actually been wondering how you download level packs?
Episodes 1 and 2 did though, from what I can remember.
well it had cutscenes in the same way that a lot of CoD (and a lot of modern day FPSs) do. You still control the character in some way or another and it isn't cutting away from the normal gameplay, but it's the same idea for the most part.

As Link-Hero said, there's more than that. It will include all Super Mario Bros. stages, Portal themed stages, local and online multiplayer mode, changing Mario's skin color, level editor, using other enemies to kill enemies (picture below), etc.

Well here's Episode 1's intro cutscene, and Episode 2's:
spoilers obviously [youtube:qiDTDSwJvxA] [youtube:L7bGBDG2ioo&feature=related] The episode 2 cutscene is much more... cutscene-ish than the other one.
And Portal 2 had some cutscenes towards the end of the game
@irken004 In a review, we'd call those video's "opening "cinematic's." Valve uses in-game cut-scenes and in-game cinematic's in their games. A cut-scene is where a game completely 'cuts', or breaks away from the gameplay to a cinematic, then returns you to gameplay. Cut-scenes on Nintendo platforms are usually used to 'show-off' an action segment of the game in a higher resolution than the normal gameplay graphics can offer. HD consoles are starting to use in-game graphics for cut-scenes though (e.g. Uncharted, Heavy Rain, etc), but it seems that most reviewers like to simply call them cinematic's nowadays.
I absolutely adore the Portal games. I really didn't think that Portal could be topped, but the new ideas that the sequel brought into the game blasted the series to new heights. I really hope that we see a Portal 3 a few years down the road.
To answer the question about seeing Valve games on Nintendo consoles. Valve is a company that only wants to develop on high end machines. They didn't want to develop on consoles because of their limits and they wanted to stay on PC, but Microsoft somehow encouraged them to develop on the Xbox. Surprisingly they pushed to the PS3, as it allows them to merge the PS3 and PC together through Steam and are now bringing Counter Strike: GO to the PS3 as well. Wii U might see Counter Strike: GO, but Valve will most likely be developing for the new Sony and Microsoft consoles going forward.

Add Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World then I'll try it.
Super Mario Bros. 1 clones have been done to death.
