I have been playing pokemon ruby alot lately. I was just wondering, how do you build you teams, what types do you use. Not just in ruby but in any of the main series games. Also, im planning on starting emerald again, but i cant think of a team that would get me through the game, in single player.
I was thinking:
Blaziken
Breloom
Tentacruel
Manectric
Flygon
Swellow

Also could you comment on my D/P little cup team please:
starly - aerial ace/steel wing/roost/cant remember
turtwig - giga drain/solarbeam/sunny day/safeguard
chimchar - flamethrower/shadow claw/ sunny day/swords dance
piplup - brine/ice beam/attract/captivate
shinx - thunderbolt/iron tail/thunder wave/roar
gible - dragon pulse/earthquake/stealth rock/protect

Eel

Ruby-

Zigzagoon*6

Only one needs to be trained, just be suere to teach it belly dance and strong physical moves, covet, surf and ice beam are also quite useful. It will be about level 70 by the time you reach the Elite Four.
The others will supply you with items like rare candies and full restores every few battles.

That's all you need.

It won't work in other games though, only Ruby or Sapphire.

Why do I feel so sad whenever I see a wall of text relating to a video game and not understand what at least half of it means?

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

@MrExcite - I doubt you need two fighting types. Why not Cacturn instead? You got nothing for Psychic types.

I think he just wants something for us to talk about...though I'll admit, I was thinking of directing him to those same sites at first.

I said "useful", not required Mostly to use against that dragon elite four. But the intelligent use of belly drum can be very useful for that too.
I have already beat the game like this, the only really dificult part is the 2nd gym battle. As long as you concentrate on training only one Zigzagoon.
Covet is a Normal typed Thief with 4 times the PP. Any kind of physical move that affects ghosts will get rid of them, they're not that common, and their ghost moves don't work on you either.

It's just a way to mix up things. I'm sure you could do the same using other pokemon. However [in Ruby and Sapphire], Zigzagoons will give you rare free items, including rare candies, regardless of their level.

Oh, right, ghost moves were considered "physical" back then, didn't them? True true.
Linoone is like an empty canvas. Too many options.

Hyper beam everything? Haha.
Actually, I know a really dickish way of abusing slakings mechanics.
Step #1 - teach it hyper beam. Even with the truant ability, it will work the same. Just use then recharge, no loafing around after recharging!
Step #2 - silk scarf. This plus the STAB = overpowered
Step #3 - watch all opponents go OMFG (as long as they are'nt rock or steel. But hey, brick break TM)
