But how we measure if a film its overrated or not. Box office?? IMDB ratings??
If I say Baby geniuses is a bad film I think Im hugely overrating it cause its a piece of $&%$&hggahvfs.
Haha! Baby Geniuses. I was just thinking about that movie a few days ago. The last time I saw it was in theatres, and I think I remember liking it, just because of Christopher Lloyd.
Surprised to see Jaws and The Dark Knight on here. I honestly find it hard to believe how anyone can not rate both of those movies as excellent - but then everyone's oppinion differs, I just never understand their reason.
Still you at least need to give Jaws a break - if only for the fact it was the first ever summer blockbuster movie. Without it we wouldn't even have Star Wars, so it's truely unique in that respect even if you weren't particularly interested in it as a story.
To contribute to this thread, though, I'd have to say the likes of Anchorman, Dodgeball, Night at the Museum etc. Everyone raves about them but I really can't stand them. Awful comedy from the same actors who just cameo in each other's movies - I spend each film just wondering when the unfunny Owen Wilson cameo will be or the tedious Vince Vaughn cameo - or what new character Ben Stiller comes up with .... nope just him in a fake moustache again.

I do find The Dark Knight excellent, though mostly because of Heath Ledger's performance, Gotham's atmosphere, and the cinematography. However it was often too slow for me, and some minor annoyances (such as Batman's voice) hold it back from being "perfect" or an absolute "masterpiece" for me.
Part of the appeal of Jaws is that there wasn`t much like it and no one knew what to expect going into that theater. Some theaters did not have the poster which featured the shark. This was before the internet and the TV ruined a movie before it was out.

I haven't seen jaws for years, and maybe my opinions changed. I was expecting to see more of the shark when I was little, so maybe it'll be better this time.
the transformers movies aren't that good.I dont say overrated, because there ratings werent that good to begin with.I wished that they were more focused on the whole autobot and decepticon war over control of earth,not that crap that doesnt make sense about the matrix,which is entirely different than what its supposed to be. and since when were the decepticons intending to suck the thermal energy out of the sun? what kind of war is this?
EDIT:the first ransformers movie wasn't that bad, just inaccurate to the whole transformers storyline. i'm a really big transformers nerd.

About as accurate as the G1 story writing. Cheesy, but unforgettable
