To make a long story short my dad upgraded to the Roku ultra from the Roku 3. I decided to hook up the Roku 3 to my parents old TV they gave me a while back. The PS2 & old Wii are hooked up to the old TV & play fine. When I turned the TV around looking at the plugs there is no HDMI spot for the HDMI to plug in instead there's S-Video & audio spots like (red, yellow, white cords etc). Is there a S-Video to HDMI converter a thing or even online? Asking before I waste money on Amazon & then having to send something back in a few weeks... 🤦♀️ Thank you for any help / info on this matter. It's truly appreciated. ✌️
The hdmi to s-video converter I looked at on amazon had reviews saying that it didn't work for s-video.
While S-video is better than RCA(red yellow white), s-video is a smaller niche, and appears to be harder to find converters for. So, if you have RCA, or the 5 plug Component ports, there may be more products on the market for them.
As far as stores go, outside of amazon, I looked on Best Buy's site and Micro Center (a computer, tv, media store). I have a Micro Center by me, but they mostly only have stores in large populated areas. So, if you've never heard of Micro Center, they do have a decent online store.
Relatively easy to find HDMI to either S-Video or RCA converters on Amazon - at least here in the UK. Just make sure you look for one that has HDMI Input to s-Video/RCA Output. Converters with HDMI out are a lot more common, but won't work in your situation - doing a general web search mostly brought up the wrong type, but the first hit I got on Amazon (UK) was correct.
I honestly appreciate your help. As stupid as this sounds & my curiosity has the better of me to ask but is there any converter that has multiple spots / plugs for the red, yellow & white cords because have 2 sets of cords in same colors for old Wii & PS2 & in order to play either one have to unplug 1 cord in order to play the other game system. Wondering if there's a converter with the red, white, yellow plugs & a s video & HDMI all rolled into one. Or a red white, & yellow cords that plug into the back of the TV while being connected to the converter with the multiple plugs. Also since the Roku 3 is already old should I just get a Roku ultra like my dad? I know at some point the Roku 3 isn't going to be supported because of old software if so this will probably be April's project vs February or march~ 🤦♀️🤣 D'oh~ 🤦♀️
@Barbiegurl777 If you saw my last post (which I deleted), apologies that I misread your original post. Totally missed that you said that your TV doesn't have any HDMI ports. Anyway, I do want to ask. I'm guessing you're trying to hook up your Wii, PS2, and Roku to your TV? Hope I'm understanding this correctly.
If I am, I know there exist these things called switchers that let you change inputs without unplugging any of the video cables. I used to use a composite switcher to swap between my consoles when I was a kid. (Composite cables are the yellow, white, and red ones.) You could look up "composite switcher" on Amazon and you'll have a lot of options to pick from. As for s-video, I didn't see too many options for s-video switchers. Since s-video itself is not very common.
Hope this helped, and let me know if you have any more questions. As for the Roku, maybe stick with the Roku 3 for now, and if the apps stop working or whatever, then that would be a good time to get the Roku Ultra.

@Barbiegurl777 Hope you don't mind me butting in here but, yes, multi input to single output RCA (R/W/Y) are fairly common - simple online search for "RCA Switch box" or similar should find what you are looking for. I've used one in the past for exactly what you are trying to do here.
