The feeling, not the game.

I was playing Pokemon HeartGold, and I got to Cerulean City with that great town music. I realized that I have listened to 4 different versions of that song.

Suddenly I remembered when I was 4, playing my fat Game Boy my parents just got for me.

Then when I was 6 or 7, and I was out of Johto and into Kanto, and I went up through Vermillion and Saffron, looking at the changes from the game I played before.

Then when I was 11, I played through Leaf Green and got my first bike from that same city from that classic game again.

And now, there I was, just today. Going on 17. And I'm running around in Cerulean City, and then I stop. And listen to the memories.

And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)

@MetalMario: I know what you mean. I am pretty much the same age as you, and have all the same fond memories. Here's to more great memories in the future!

I've got the body of a taut, pre-teen Swedish boy.

It's a shame the early Pokémon games haven't aged well at all (recently played through Yellow again for kicks, that was a chore at times), but then I guess that's why FRLG and HGSS exist.

Ah yes, Pokémon surely is a game series I have many nostalgic feelings for. I remember how popular it was during my final year of primary school.

Everyone had that game. I had Red, a classmate had Blue and another had Yellow. Most of these kids played it becuase it was Pokémon. I think I liked the game mostly because it was just a damn clever game perfectly suited for a portable system.

The fad had already died a year later but I picked up Gold when it came out and it was everything RBY were and more, much more. It was just a damn fine game, even when Pokémon wasn't the hottest thing around anymore. It just remains one of the most enjoyable games even though it is milked out endlessly and I still love it at nearly 23 years old, just as much as I did ten years ago. I didn't care much for the cartoon or the trading cards, toys, etc., but the game has kept me going for a whole freaking decade.

They're quite slow nowadays, with Pokemon Stadium you can crank the speed to triple though, and BAM!, great times again.

Yeah you have to PAUSE every time you use an HM...and there's only one bag pocket with a limit.

Improvements FTW.

Hopefully the new Pac-Man title apparently being made by Sonic creator Yuki Naka will flod the memories back to my head.

Nostalgia's a big factor for me when it comes to movies, TV, games, music, or comics (especially movies, TV, and games).

MetalMario

Nintendo has the most of it for me.

@ MetalMario
When it comes to video games, I might feel the same. Either Nintendo or Sega, definitely.

bro2dragons

Heart Gold has done the same for me... actually... Nintendo in recent years has done so for me. from Mario Galaxy, to the VC, to NSMBWii, Since the Wii launched, i've been feeling like a 10 year old boy all over again.

Even though I didn't grow up with it, it's still important to me. One of my favorite consoles.
