I got chapter 1 of a series named “Mallory Beck Cozy Culinary Capers” for free on Kindle like half a decade ago. I finally got around to buying a few more of the books since they’re cheap and the first one was nice.
It’s kinda like little bits of murder investigation-flavored comfort food. Not super challenging and not super logical when it comes to how does this civilian woman manage to get herself so involved in police investigations without legal consequences, but it’s just nice. Also they come with a free recipe at the end so that’s interesting.
It somewhat seems like the series goes downhill in the last few entries (judging by their page count), but I’m still in the middle so that’s fine.
@Sunsy Honestly, I think that's nice. Nothing wrong with enjoying books like these, they're perfect for the child in us. That reminds me, I have a chapter book based on the Sonic SatAM series from when I was a kid. It's simply called Sonic the Hedgehog. I used to have one of its sequels too, but I don't know where it ended up. That's cool you have chapter and picture books. I've always liked looking at pictures anytime I'm reading a book, haha!

@D-Star92 Didn't know Sonic SatAM had chapter books, I had a "Sonic 2" picture book as a kid, which adapted the characters from SatAM. It is, IIRC, Poppy and the Mane Mania was its own story not based off any Trolls movies or cartoons, while the other chapter books are based off the movies.
Interesting thing about chapter books based off movies, they're usually based off early screenplays of the movies, as a result they have content in it cut from the movie. I still remember the Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius chapter book had a whole chapter dedicated to Sheen getting an alien ship, this was never shown in the movie.
I still need to read the Trolls Band Together chapter book, it will be fun to see the differences from the movie.

@Sunsy It did, I think there were three books in the series. It's been so long since I watched Sonic SatAM, so I don't remember if the books had their own original stories. They probably did. That's cool, I also used to have a "how to draw Sonic" book. That's cool that Poppy and the Mane Mania had its own story.
Ohhhh, that's actually neat. It's kind of like having a bonus feature on a DVD, only it's in book form. I'd say you should read it, that would be a fun read for sure. I wonder if there's any deleted scenes in it?

@D-Star92 I'll have to find time to read Trolls Band Together. I know the story because movie based book, but it does have me curious what's different.
These kind of chapter books need to be out when the movie is out, so the authors adapt an early screenplay of the movies, as a result, unused ideas get into them still making them worth reading. I still remember the Smurfs: The Lost Village chapter book, Gargamel's freeze balls froze Smurfette in the book, while having no effect on her in the movie.
