Topic: The NHL thread

So what do you guys think about the great possibility of there being a NHL lockout for the season? I personally would be very upset as my dear Wild had just signed Parise and Suter...

I'm already disappointed the season had been delayed, I hope there isn't a lockout. But I guess that gives me extra time to savor my Kings' Stanley Cup!

This is like the 4th time in the past 20 years, and I'm sick of it. I really don't get it, because NHL players never made so much money in the past, yet they were happy to show up and play. I guess the players make so much money nowadays that they can afford these work disruptions every few years, despite how short a career in the NHL tends to be. The teams should hire women to play instead — they'd jump at the opportunity, and it would give us something novel for a change.

I'll be disappointed - I'm hoping to be able to catch this season while I'm still in the States!

I'm not really up to speed on the reasons for it, though - if the players aren't being fairly compensated then they should be asking for more (those inevitable hospital bills don't pay themselves). No idea if that's really the case though.

I think they will get it done...at least I hope. Want to see Sabres hit the ice.

I'm going to be super limit break enraged if I have to go a whole year still hearing Kings fans brag about winning the Stanley Cup.

I wanted My Devils to win, Damn it.

So besides the lockout, what were you guys hoping for this season?

Hopefully they get it done with the new 50-50 deal and the 82 game season starting on November 2. I'm just dying to see my Wild play!

Get ready for a long wait my friend becuase it's going to be quite a bit before we can even think about talks getting slighty close to a deal.

Incidentally on the subject of 20 years I'd like to point out lockout's in the NHL only started when Gary Bettman became commesioner so one might think that the problem lies with leadership rather than the players being greedy.

Not much into hockey, but I root for all the New York teams so I'm hoping for the Rangers to win the cup.
