Watched Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank tonight. I remember the trailer to this one when I saw Trolls World Tour at a local theater in 2022, and since it popped up on Netflix, I gave it a chance. I liked it, it's a Mel Brooks movie that's family friendly. Tells the story about a dog named Hank going to a town to become a samurai. It was a fun movie.

I don't see this one talked about online, I did enjoy it.

@Pastellioli Indeed, their version of the Grinch felt like a mix of Seuss style and Illumination style. Now I'm being reminded of the Peanuts Movie. That style remained faithful to the original style of Peanuts.

Yeah, it's cool too, although they did drop "Smurf" from their names (example, Smurfblossom in Smurfs: The Lost Village is named Blossom on the show). I discovered the Smurfs official YouTube channel years ago, and seen quite a few episodes on it, stuff that wasn't on the DVDs I have too. I think I've only seen Smurfs and the Magic Flute once. Most of the Smurfs I've watched were the classic cartoons, The Lost Village movie, the two live action ones, and the 2021 series.

@Sunsy, I watched Paws of Fury over two years ago back when my family had Paramount Plus. I still remember the Super Bowl joke, it was just that funny. 🤣

Just watched fantastic four. I liked it. Not my favorite marvel movie, but definitely a fun watch. The visuals were definitely the highlight. Several scenes looked absolutely incredible, and the overall aesthetic is delightful. I'd give it a solid 7/10. Not a must-watch by any means, but I would definitely recommend it overall.

@OctolingKing13 I personally liked thunderbolts better (I'd give thunderbolts an 8, maybe a 9), but not by like a super wide margin. They are also pretty different movies overall as well. Thematically, tonally, and visually they are almost completely different. But if you liked thunderbolts you'll almost certainly like this one as well.

Been watching the Jurassic Park movies the last few nights. Started with the original trilogy which I enjoyed, I felt The Lost World was the weakest of the 3. Now I am working on the second series and just finished up Fallen Kingdom. So far out of the second series Jurassic World was my favorite. Kingdom was interesting and it was a nice closure to the island side of the story but after that the story just got to far fetched for me. It was enjoyable just on the islands and I can understand why they did what they did storywise but yeah having the dinosaurs now out in actual cities and towns I am not sure about. Still I will see the others here soon and see where they are going with this series.

Penguin Lessons. I loved this! 5 stars for me. Was expecting it to be alright, but really engaged me through out. Steve Coogan is really good at drama, I think people forget that sometimes because of all his comedy. Anyway. Very touching and great performances.

@Sunsy Yeah, with Illumination’s adaptations of Seuss, I could see some parts of his art style incorporated in the environments and style, with
Illumination’s own style also put in there a bit too. After seeing how almost all previous film adaptations of Seuss’s books all used art styles closely resembling his art, I can’t tell you how surprised I was when I saw the new Cat in the Hat film is using a completely different art style that looks more cutesy. Not that it looks bad, but it’s very surprising seeing his characters in a movie where the art style doesn’t resemble his original art, though with The Cat they tried to incorporate some aspects of Seuss’s style in his design, because I saw The Cat’s gloves resembled how Seuss drew them in the original book. And yes, The Peanuts Movie was fantastic and had an awesome art style that was faithful to the original comics, and did an awesome job remaining very cartoony in 3D!

I also think I saw The Magic Flute once too, though recently I watched a video where someone watched all five Smurfs films and heard them talking about The Magic Flute in there. I found out from that video the Magic Flute was based on another Peyo comic called Johan and Peewit, and because it was the first to introduce the Smurfs, the Smurfs themselves have a smaller role in it, which was interesting to find out. I have also seen the live-action films but I remember the second one way more, and out of all the Smurfs movies I’ve seen so far, I liked Lost Village the most because it was closer to the source material compared to the live-action films and started using Peyo’s original art style from the comics.

Saw Airplane 2 today. Aside from missing Lesley Nielson, I rather enjoyed it. I am probably a terrible person, I know.

Currently watching Jurassic World Dominion and I just have one thought. What the ***** did the Jurassic Park franchise become??? This movie is horrible. It doesnt even seem like a Jurassic Park movie. Its some sci fi action flick with dinosaurs and no plot. You can tell its about just using the JP name to make money now. Terrible movie if anything they need to just reboot the series from the beginning.

Ok well now I finished it and it makes some sense now. This wrapped up the franchise and appearently Rebirth is a reboot. Final thoughts this was the weakest of the six movies but I guess they used it to tie up lose ends. I dont know. Plot was non existent still and the only redeeming part was the fact that they brought in the original heroes along with the heroes from Jurassic World. Its good thing that this is the ending of this series cause they just seem to run out of ideas.

Happy Gilmore 2, absolutely loved it. As a 90’s teenager, the first was one of my favorite movies. This is a worthy sequel, and worth a watch. Hilarious, treated the legacy well, and was a ton of fun.

Only the original, and the first World were well received. And I didn't even like World.

They're 2 for 7.

The original is still magic though.

@MontyCircus I'd say after World the series just jumped the shark. While World just felt like an updated Jurassic Park, Fallen Kingdom and Dominion just felt directionless with out the island/Park setting.

Saw The Fantastic Four: First Steps yesterday and it was awesome. I don’t really keep up with the MCU (or superhero movies in general) and I’ve only seen a few films, but after seeing Thunderbolts in May and being very surprised with it, I was looking forward to seeing Fantastic Four, and it didn’t disappoint! The characters were great and I enjoyed the dynamics between the main four characters (Johnny was my favorite especially), I liked the film’s tone, and one of my favorite things about the movie was the bright and retro 1960s aesthetic/theme and costumes. The retro aesthetic is very gorgeous and they nailed it perfectly, and I think it makes the film look way more unique and stand out, especially since a lot of superhero movies I’ve seen before tend to look darker and grittier, so the brighter look of this film is such a breath of fresh air. Truly a “fantastic” film, and maybe one of the best superhero films I’ve seen!

The original Jurassic Park is an amazing film. All of the incidental little details (the digital GATTACA projector beamed over the real Velociraptor and the sign reading "warning objects may be closer than they appear" in the car mirror are two of my favourites) blow me away watching it as an adult. Spielberg is the master.

I like some of the bits of Lost World - particularly the glass backed trailer scene - but it's not in the same league as a film.

The films in the franchise thereafter are mostly rubbish that sells on the basis that dinosaurs are inherently cool.

Nice to see someone else who watched Paws of Fury. The movie had quite a bit of jokes in it, I personally liked when the characters broke the fourth wall and were like "we're in an 85 minute movie," lol.

@Pastellioli Yeah, I noticed the Cat in the Hat's new style. They played the trailer before I saw Smurfs. IIRC, Johan and Peewit also were part of the 80's cartoon. I remember on some of the Smurfs DVDs I have had a few episodes with them in it. Yes, I do remember the Smurfs spun off from them. Funnily enough I remember the first one more because of Azrael, lol. BTW, I have the Smurfs 2 Wii U game, the amusing part about it is they did they human characters and the Smurfs in the story scenes in the style of the original, even though the game uses the live action Smurfs during gameplay.

@StuTwo The first one didnt try to do anything special to be honest. Its invoked a sense of amazement and wonder which is why it made so much money. Then he big wigs went hey how can we duplicate that and some things just cant be duplicated.
