Watched my favorite fun movie this evening, The Angry Birds Movie 2. One of those movies and series I'm not heavily invested in, but still have fun watching. I simply love it's about a bunch of birds, going on a mission to stop other birds from destroying their island. Thow in some fun visual gags and wacky secret agent like gadgets, and it's a fun time. Been awhile since I watched this one.

The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!

Over the last two weeks I saw Across the Spiderverse and Transformers Rise of the Beasts and liked them both a lot.

Spiderverse needs no explanation, it's a very good movie that manages to exceed the original, it's a visual spectacle coupled with a great story, and a lot of the different Spider-men make for a ton of great characters, and this movie is easily making Miles one of my favorite superheroes.

Transformers Rise of the Beasts on the other hand is probably the most "Transformers" Transformers movie in the best possible way, in terms of both story, and especially characters(this Mirage is easily my favorite new Transformer in the cinematic TF universe). Also human characters are actually likeable again, Noah is up there with Charlie as one of the best human companions. The more I think about it the more I like it than Bumblebee, which I also happen to really like

@Snatcher Not on here but just in general lol
I'm gonna be honest, I watched about half of the og series, started up the Netflix version and enjoyed that one just fine...
I can understand why people didn't like it, but honestly I enjoyed it just fine

All good lol, I'm afraid I'm not well versed enough in OP to know enough/give an opinion, but I hope it's close enough to satisfy the fans!

Sorry for the late reply.

Hey it’s good if you enjoyed it, I’m sure the people who hated it would have loved to have liked it same as you! That’s at least how I see things like that. However I don’t think the creator liked it at all, I have to see if I can find it but I think they said something about watching a little bit of it, and they just couldn’t make it though it.

If you have read though at least east blue, then I think you can perfectly critique it, as I think that how far season one is going anyway,

@Professor_Plumber Oh you haven’t watched any of it? Well I don’t blame you,I only started reading it this year, and it’s pretty overwhelming, honestly it’s not for everyone and it really just depends if it can grab you or not, and the start is pretty boring In my opinion, hopefully the live action one is faithful because it would definitely be faster then watching the anime, which pacing sucks.

Also holy am I the only one getting fat animated discovery cards as ads? It’s making it really hard to type lol.

I reckon Velma is so grand that people are losing their minds over it because of an emotion response it’s created which meets the criteria of art to me. It's like a magician that tells you the magic show isn't really magic as it's just a show, they preforms some tricks and then the entire audience screams witchcraft and tries to burn them as a witch like back in the day at Salem.

In an age when the irrelevant sweary cartoons are yawned at like South Park are literally asking their audience to cancel them but no one takes it seriously or Rick & Morty keeps doing cheap shocks like inter-family love making but no one cares enough to get angry. Yet Velma is getting people real angry because they understood ever evolving language and mindset needed to get folk angry.

I think the show is trash (I didn't make it to 5 mins before I turned it off) and it’s sad that more actually provocative shows/movies aren’t creating outrage because people aren’t arsed by non-franchise and non-CGI things but still bravo for being relevant, trolling and living in people’s heads.

@Rambler I do have a theory (which is still in progress) about that. It's similar how to the wild west was glamourised by loads of westerner movies to become this exciting wild time when it was nothing like that at all yet it's been romanticised to become as fact of American history which influences people today. Only now history and culture to people is franchises like Scooby Doo, Star Wars etc which people get upset about if they aren't real by their ideal definition, which replaces (for me at least when I was a kid) movies like Shaun Of The Dead or Trainspotting which connected as it felt like real life even with the upside down dead babies and zombie fighting elements. Or I could just be talking out of my arse.

This came about as I watched Pale Rider and despite loving Clint Eastwood cowboy films I only found it so so and my mind started to drift.

Productive few weeks movie wise, but not without issues. Can't go and watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse because it's been banned here. I think it has something to do with a certain blue and pink flag that showed up in someone's room.

Ah well. Sisu gave me a right good scare at any rate.

@TheJGG you’re better off waiting closer til Spider Man 11 comes out anyway to see Spider Man 10 as it forgot to include an ending with the movie.

How was Sisu, I heard it’s basically a thin excuse for action and gore but is it good fun action and gore?

I watched two movies this past weekend.

Lake Placid(1999). It was alright. I think I watched this movie as a kid on channel 46, Unimas. Because they used to run these forgotten movies, I guess because it didn't cost anything or anything at all to have the station run it. Anyway. It wasn't funny or engaging; it tried too hard to be funny. But Betty White was hilarious. All her lines were top-notch stuff. She's the star of the show. I wish they gave her more screen time; it would have saved this movie. 5/10.

Fantastic, Mr. Fox. I adored this movie. So heartwarming. It was a treat. I didn't see the appeal of it in the first 20 minutes. But afterward, I had a smile on my face and laughed at all the dry jokes. The voice acting was superb. The cast did a tremendous job; I teared up at one scene because of a line a particular main character delivered. I didn't expect that. The animation is cute as well. The characters were sweet and unique. It's such an excellent film. 10/10. I would gladly watch it again

The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

I heard, but it’s apparently one of the better animated movies of all time, it’d be a shame to not see it in theatres because of a non-supremacist-movement flag. They ban Spider-Man but allow Sisu, a movie of a silent, gruff Finnish man who kills a squad of Nazis for gold?

Sisu itself is a little mindless but never thoughtless, in a way. The guy just refuses to die no matter what the admittedly crafty Nazis throw at him, and sure, there’s a little deus ex machina, but it’s all good fun. The violence can be quite graphic for that matter.

Is it Finnish John Wick? Nah, JW has stunning choreography and a higher budget. This is set in the wilderness and is far more visceral.
