Let me just add this up...
I had a 64 and a Game Boy, skipped the last gen completely, then went onto a DS and a Wii. I would have spent about $100 on the Game Boy (I was younger then so most of my games were gifts), maybe $150 on the 64, $200 for the DS and $350 for games (including GBA), and about $1000 for Wii and Games. So all up AU$1650 for 8 GBA games, 10 DS games, 10 Wii games, 3 Game Cube games, 7 64 games and about 5 or 6 Game Boy Colour games - Keeping in mind that the majority of the 64 and GBC games presents. Anyway, if I paid full retail for my games, It'd probably be closer to $3000, but for example I picked up Pokemon Platinum new yesterday for $20 Aussie (it's been out here since Thursday), and I got Mario Kart and Z&W week 1 for AU$50 each, and I picked up TWEWY new and legit for AU$30. I find the best way to get them is by buying online (watch out for bootlegs though) or taking advantage of the JB HiFi 2 for 1 deals. The devs get the same amount of money regardless.

Oh, a couple of weeks ago at Kmart they had a clearance sale where they were selling games for $10. Picked up 2 of them, brought them into JB Hi-Fi yesterday and asked for the 2-for-1 deal. Cha-Ching! Anyway, the Kmart sale isn't on anymore but Toys R Us have some $20 ones. What I did is called "trade baiting" and I use it to get games that are worth more when i sell them in 2 years time.
BTW: http://www.ecogamer.com/ has good deals and is an Aussie site, but it won't be updated for the next 3 or 4 days because the site is being re-done. BTW: I stumbled across Elite Beat Agents for $16 in Target earlier on this year. =รพ

I'd rather not think about it, but I've spent more on the Wii than probably all previous console systems I've owned combined.

I had the sudden urge to revive a topic...
Now that I think about it... I've NEVER bought a video game console EVER! (Ahh...when you're still "young" enough for Christmas! )
However, after looking at my DS collection alone, I can see around $600 bucks being dropped (Bear in mind, this is over a span of a few years, and I don't have a job... ).

(Live...LIVE!...No, I will NOT give you mouth to mouth!)

Just games? Probably about 1500 bucks. Throw in consoles and I guess that comes to about 2000. Since my parents bought about %10 of my games, and one of my consoles (the N64) that takes away a good chunk of money.
