Follow up on game/non-game music discussion with Science Girl and BloodNinja- Of course this is open to anyone but it seemed to go beyond the article so I looked to continue it here.

Thanks for the link! Brecker is new to me (or severe brain problems lol).
I have an uncle who could be a historian on jazz so I wouldn’t be surprised if I’ve heard a record and didn’t know. All the science barely fits in my cute head let alone famous musicians .

The vid reminded me of playing solo as a kid and having a little sweat on my fingers, then only being more terrified.
...It’s funny in university, playing bars, the sweaty fingers was like oil to play those staccato/flutters. ~~~~~ not that I’m close to this Brecker!

~~~this is a test oh great ninja and mods, in case I broke a rule sry!~~~
It seems to function! Hello!
BloodNinja
That's awesome about your uncle, and yep! I've been there. Soloing can be terrifying!
I totally understand about science knowledge taking up a lot of HDD space, in-head. LOL I'm similar in that respect, where I have a lot of fitness/martial arts knowledge so sometimes remembering "take out trash," slips out until I shake the hard drive a little hahaha...
Posting off-news feed~ Closest to being sneaky~ In case you are careful about such things (I’ll even delete this question if I’m going to far just say so)...
So ...That kata/poomsae vid of a Ninja-sighting as you put it... it wasn’t you was it? I’m not very knowledgeable about those, but the foot work stuck out to me (maybe just bc I’ve only seen other types) I won’t pretend to break it down. The staying low and rather consistent stance varies from some other forms I’ve seen. Not that the performer dictates the form of course.
As you mentioned, you have a bunch of knowledge in the martial arts~
Thanks for ninja stuff, since I’m a quite a bit of a ninja fan...
Lol, that is totally me, in my old backyard being a kung fu guy a few months ago. I’m pretty open and you seem friendly so I’m not worried about any questions you may want to ask! The word kata/poomse is fine, they both mean the same thing in English, which is pattern or form. The one I showed in the video is a rarity from my style. The form is called Pal Gi Kwon, which means “8 ultimate fist” in English. It’s an old form that was part of military training in Manchuria. Do you train any martial arts? I’ve been teaching for the past 16 years, training for 20.
To answer your stuff from the Konami thread, I’m pretty out of practice with music. I play these days just as a hobby and to relax. So those pros in the videos would probably play circles around me!
I’ll haveto reply in more detail soon.
Just two words (since one will get blocked) on how a certain ninja is looking good. Like~ you could’ve been some little girl or an old grampa guy ~ I still would have thought it was fun to chat but you are the blood ninja no joke ... oh yeah. Two words:
Lol
I checked that ikagaruarara... whatever again
Didn’t realize it was on pc for cheap. Thanks!
So you’ve traveled a bit?
On the ‘arts
It’s been a little while (science has a way of taking all my time) but moving beyond the pink dumbbell cliche that self defense can be Ive done ~7years between mixed grappling and karate with Less than a years worth in each : Thai (wait is this Just cardio boxing? Barely touched the shin rollers), T’ai Chi, and the throwing one ( Judo?).
I love exercise but I’ve gotten away from all of it bc bad news seems to clip my wings.
This talk kind of inspires me, really it’s nothing to do with your hot ninja self , even if I’m not dojo ready~~~I could do some forms with the calisthenics etc I do now.
On the bad news srys. I just mean that some rough stuff has happened a number of times in my life.
IRL it can be a pity party for people I meet so this online stuff is like a getaway I pretend it’s all good but that’s why I’m not more knowledgeable on the topic.
Lol some people just can’t take a fall
~~our secret Ok wink. ~~
At least I’ve got science to fall back on if we ever team up to save the world
Apologies for going MIA it’s been forever~ some cray shh.uff this week, plus bonus, I might have been wrestling with myself over your offer... I went too far w/writing what I did. Pretty much exactly what I shouldn’t. Maybe it’s you’ve been reminding me of someone or idk nerves over something I knew was coming up (this week~full of appts /mtgs lol)...
I copied the address (in case you need to take down after being flooded w/fan mail bc everybody wants more ninja in their life ) and btw I’d let you know on here if it’s the ‘real’ me reaching out~~~
~~~I planned to keep this site all just for kicks, no irl friends bc of ... reasons, and even made this account in a PITA way to help w/that.
So... yeah. Very disciplined of me right? Hee hee I’ll hold out for a while I promise. but we’ll def talk punches at some point. I like to think I’ve got speed but.. no.
Btw If I’m ever MIA in the future for a long time it’s never personal you’re my BNFE~ some places don’t get service/things going on~~ but I’d def write if I could.

BNFE (*B*est *N*inja *F*riend *E*ver)

On beauty~~
probably no real disagreement, but for kicks or laughs (or anyone who appreciates our super witty banter) I’ll “disagree” on the pro- beauty side.
Hope you’re doing good btw!

In the context where you used beauty: “beauty is skin deep”, “beauty” is used like “vanity” is used in the Bible book Ecclesiastes (not a religious thing or a Byrds “turn turn” reference I promise).
In the book, a bleak and futile view of the world and life is given, where the emptiness of beauty/vanity and utter meaninglessness of gaining in it is described. The author equates just about all pursuits to vanity and though seeming like a grumpy old grampa ~ totally get it.

There is a tiny sparkle of light away from the cool nihilistic hopelessness~ I’ll admit to being even a bit easier being the emo softie I am lol. ~ like, “beauty” can also be true self-sacrificing love, forgiveness, friendship ~
As I marvel so keenly with all this knowledge I have at nature (in the academic sense, like natural-science, not just going to the park nature) it cannot be broken apart from the understanding of the axioms these scientific methods rely on to grow which are hardly ever whispered by the grand masters of the big ivy strewn “U” ~ we cannot let them know how science works, they say (lol)...

but in the beauty of the artistic vision of a Starry Night, the protection felt gives way to the swirling equations from SM, GR and these endless equations haunt me; bliss only dreamed by Plato as we plagiarize~ Args w/symmetry, gauge, ... it all describes that beneath all the vanity, if you will, a beautiful love resonates, as no curtain is pulled back to demystify~ the mystery grows but with growing knowledge! a depth of illumination beckons further, at play amid all of this the observed requires observer for even our modest speculation...
Gazing at the mountain in awe, it is the mountain who is awed: for the observer’s eye is what allows for awe at all, and this extends to all matter, phenomena, mechanisms, ...

What I mean is that just as to see the meaning of life and redeem beauty the existentialist view can assert itself on either path (self ascribed: meaning or meaninglessness) the same holds true as I scrutinize science~
Yet the beauty in each case, becomes inextricably linked to the depth~
Just as you said “skin deep”
In this you are claiming that true value is at the depth, so here even the divergent views all meet:
The boldest nihilist, the believer of all forms of beauty’s value, you, and (me) your dear writer (trying to have hope in the beauty of cosmic forces as a sign of the greater beauty of a person being a friend) all agree: at the depth is what is important.

....Or ... maybe I should be on meds.

@Dr_G_Lemaitre Just got home from work. Needless to say, I needed that. Uh, "that" being the response you wrote. I was wondering where you went, and hoping you were ok and that I didn't scare you with the email. I can be a little too fearless for my own good!

Anyway, speed? Speed alone is meaningless. It only gains meaning through correct technique, and good targeting. I love being martial arts wiki! Hahahah!!!!

I loved the BNFE, that really made me smile. I like how sincerely you speak. It's pretty refreshing these days, with most of society afraid to be themselves.

You wrote a lot about nihilism, which is interesting because I think so much about that very topic. It reminds me a little of the samurai who would think of their own death over and over as part of their training. I think death helps us find who we really are, and I don't mean literal dying! I mean thinking that okay, one day, our day will come. So how do we want to live, in the meantime? I believe if we can ponder in a somewhat detached way the meaning of our inevitable death, we can find greater and deeper meaning in the simple things that life brings us.

I'm very careful in how I talk about this philosophy. Sometimes when I teach it, people think I'm saying, "okay, f*** it, why bother if we are going to one day die," and I hope to god everyone I have taught this understands that I mean this: we gain the ability to remove all unimportant things from our lives if we simply ponder the end of our existence. This will leave us with lots of room to fill it with important things!!

Okay, I'm blathering now, but you get my drift! And I'm happy you caught what I meant about depth. I love how eloquently you wrote about it, pooling from all sorts of ancient philosophies! Hilariously, I happened to learn the lesson while playing Dragon Warrior III on the NES! I'll never forget a certain kingdom that you visit halfway through the game. The Queen of the kingdom is revered for her stunning beauty, and when you speak with her she says something like, "All here revere me for my beauty, but what will come of me once this beauty inevitably fades, as it all does?" I'm not quoting it exactly, but it came out something like that. I thought it was interesting and it stuck with me all these years later.

It's nice to come home to a friend. I hope you are doing well, and I enjoy our fun chats! My brain is tired from hourly report writing at work, but I'll be around!
