Celebrating 35th anniversary is coming to an end. Goodbye Mario 35

What would you like to see on his 40th.
One for the oldies.
What did we get in his 10th, 15th.

I think Super Mario Sunshine was the 15 year celebration

I think we will get 2d all stars and 3d all stars again together for a limited time.

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

I'm assuming as ever year is Mario's anniversary the limited time products will come back and then go away for it to come back the next year ;p

Tbh I find it odd Mario first popped up in Donkey Kong in '81 and the first Mario game with Mario in the title was Mario Bros in '83 but Nintendo starts the clock from Super Mario Bros in '85.

I'm guessing it will be a limited time port of Mario Odyssey on whatever console Nintendo has out at the time.
I doubt very much we will ever get full backwards compatibility as Nintendo's business plan is 80% selling the same handful of games back to us.

@Mr-Fuggles777 The games too new to be a anniversary title. I can see galaxy dream team.

Mr-Fuggles777

@MetalToad it would be 8 years old on Mario's 40th anniversary so there's definitely a chance.

@Mr-Fuggles777 it needs to be older. 40th anniversary will surely be on the next system. I also hope it’ll be backwards compatible

Mr-Fuggles777

@MetalToad I hope it is but Nintendo doesn't like giving people free access to games from older systems. Look what they have done with the wii-U and now the 3DS library

@Mr-Fuggles777 the Wii u was backwards compatible. So was Wii. The 3ds. The ds. The Gba etc

pilot

@MetalToad I think he may have been talking about how the switch isn't backwards compatible with either of those consoles. All we've gotten is ports and rereleases and stuff

Boutta go on a pokemon mania

Maaryotyme

@pilot ok. But the switch is a different machine. It doesn’t accept cds from the Wii u or 3ds carts.

This is why it stings so much on Switch, I get they couldn't let you put a disk in the switch, but what about digital versions of games bought on Wii-U - what excuse does Nintendo have in not letting us access them on Switch?
I would have even been happy paying a small DLC fee for the new content like Bowsers Fury etc rather than being forced to pay full price for a game I already own.

Pretty sure it's very different hardware, too.... Some here probably know the relevant details better, so they can explain further

Can we get back to Mario

This is a thing now? The 35th isn’t even over yet and we’re looking at 40? I mean technically the character Mario’s 40th Anniversary is this year, but we don’t know that, Nintendo need to get on with the Zelda celebrations.

The Mario series has always been... loved more by even Nintendo themselves. More games are released more frequently, there’s many more spin-offs like RPG series, sports games and hell, even educational games like Mario Teaches Typing. Same applies to merch, Mario’s the main focus.

So I really hope nothing more happens this year. For what it’s worth it was a very fascinating idea to make all the products for the 35th Anniversary limited until March 31. Can’t say I agree but it was fascinating.

Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Persona 4 Golden
Dragon Quest XI S
F1 23
Xenoblade Chronicles 2

I'm just here to reminisce about Mario's 35th. How great it was back then. All those 3d platformers in one package. And then there's the merch. Ah, was a glorious time.

@NintendoByNature Remember when We just had leaks to go off of, we were all waiting for that sweet mario galaxy with sunshine and 64, galaxy two wouldn't hurt. But then nintendo came and F**K over all of our wishes, good times.

If my Nintendo still exist. We will also get wall papers

I think we'll get 3D Mario Maker with game styles being 64, Sunshine, Galaxy and Odyssey where Galaxy 2 stuff is in the Galaxy style and Bowser's Fury stuff is in the Odyssey style. Then Nintendo will stop making 3D Mario games outside of Mario Maker like they did for 2D Mario (the last new 2D Mario that wasn't Mario Maker is nearly 10 years old).
