Hey all! I just wanted to know everyone's opinion on the Olympic series. To me, this series is extremely nostalgic for me. I remember the countless hours I played the Vancouver and London games on the Wii. It is arguably the main reason I love the Olympics so much.
I was devastated when I heard that the Tokyo game might be the last in the series. I know it is a little late for an installation for the Paris Olympics, but do you all think there is a sliver of hope for us Olympic fans that the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Games might receive a Mario and Sonic title? Would there be any demand for it?

There is always the games replacement.
If SEGA doesn't make Mario & Sonic Olympic Games anymore (including their Olympic Games on PlayStation machines), then we can find the other sport games by different developers.
There are some alternative choices like 34 in 1 Sports, Summer Sports Games, Winter Sports Games, Instant Sports games, Winter Games 2023, etc.
Of course they have no Mario / SEGA characters but if you can deal with generic looking human characters, it might be your decent alternative choices.
I liked them, despite the bizarre premise. The first Winter one was actually my introduction to Sonic in general. They definitely peaked with Vancouver and London which I'll stand by being some of the best minigame collections on the Wii, but I do miss them overall, even if they haven't been as good lately.
I might be one of the few people who played 2010 on DS, but I played it to death as a kid. The story mode was genuinely a great introduction for me to Mario and Sonic as characters, and the minigames make great use of the DS’ capabilities.
Highlight of a very waggle-filled series for me.

With the start of the 2026 Winter Olympics I cant help remember these games. Its sad that Nintendo stop making the series as I always enjoyed playing them around the Olympics. Yeah I can go back and play some of the older ones but I want a new one. I guess Nintendo doesn't like money.

Beijing 2008 Wii is a little rough and is probably the most neutral of all the games, almost feels rushed.
Beijing 2008 DS is a little bit better but is also a Touch Screen abuser.
Vancouver 2010 Wii gave us Dream Events in Mario & Sonic locales and music from both series. This one is truly an evolution over the previous game.
Vancouver 2010 DS Adventure Mode is peak. The Touch Screen isn't as abused as in Beijing 2008 DS.
London 2012 Wii brough what was done right in Vancouver 2010 to the Summer Olympics. Dare I say, best Mario non-HD models next to Mario Sports Mix.
London 2012 3DS Story Mode is not as good as in Vancouver 2010 DS but it's nice seeing Mario & Sonic working independently against the other's fake until they find the real each other and have a handshake.
I don't like that Events are now restricted to certain characters.
Sochi 2014 (on the Wii U) has the best Dream Event with that downhill race where you're switching between snowboards, skis, bobsled and ice skates.
Aside from Mario Bros. U, this was the first HD Mario game I've ever played, and for a time I actually believed Mario should've looked like he does in this game for all his games going forward. He looks that good in-game, and this is true for all the characters.
Rio 2016 Wii U and Rio 2016 3DS I have no opinion since I haven't played them. I do have a non-working cart of the 3DS version.
What I will say is that I wish they had the event guests, namely Rosalina, Diddy Kong, Ludwig, Omega, Jet, Cream and Sticks, in all the events
Tokyo 2020 feels like a regression. It is by far the most playable of all the games because all the events (or most of them) can be played with buttons and the sticks, but almost everything they did right on previous games is abscent. Not many Mario & Sonic songs, only 3 Dream Events (one taking place in Metropolis from Sonic Forces and another on the Mushroom Kingdom from Super Mario Odyssey). I'm assuming Tokyo 64 is the replacement for the rest of the Dream Events.
Also, maybe it's just me but the Mario characters don't look as good as in Soxhi 2014, and I swear Peach and Daisy's breasts are slightly bigger here (I apologize for that observation).
Overall, I can question the premise and sometimes the execution, but the music (even the original songs) and graphics are top notch.
With all that said, one day I'll play the Arcade Editions of Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.
