I knew it! x2 Spoiler I had a feeling that Impostor-locke was really the smoke monster since early on it is hinted that the smoke monster (lets call him "smokey" for now) can manifest itself into the forms of various people and possibly animals.
I also had a weird feeling that they would do a split time line... weird spoiler end
Theory time I will refer to the two time lines as "ISLAND" and "Corrected"
in the Corrected timeline Jack will fix Locke Sawyer will try to con Hurley when the bomb went off it sunk the island killing everyone thus since young Eloise and Witmore are dead Faraday and Penny were never born thus Desmund never met Penny...... ffffff now they have to redo Dez's backstory
Island timeline I bet that pool thing is the fountain of youth, if it is then Richard Alpert must have drank from it and that is why he never ages. Hurley and Sayid are going to become a very important as the season progresses

I'm a big fan of alternate and branching timelines. To see Lost go there gives me joygasms aplenty. Or is it just splintering of some kind, I don't know. Like Juliet said... "it worked", but for some (those stuck in the 70's) it didn't, or those messing about at Jacob's foot. Noodle, baked, yes! 0.o
Off island was just bizarre, a little too much at times but I'll catch up. Loved the moments between Jack and John (I always do), bless 'em. Charlie was dodgy, but we knew that already cos of his meetings with Hurley. And ergh... Desmond? He can't be on the plane, in both timelines (both?!! i think there's more than two) he is on the island in the hatch, either crashing 815 or not. :/ Awesome!
On island................ ....../......### .....; the temple!!!! and stuff. ill go there tomorrow. /me collapses
On Desmond, two theories on him being on the plane --
First, that he wasn't really there except to Jack for some reason or another (something to do withe Desmond being a "constant"); remember, Rose & Bernard didn't recall seeing him (though that may mean nothing)...
Or -- the Island in the alternate/new timeline apparently sank, assumingly some time after/as a result of the bomb going off in the 70s. It is possible that Widmore was killed by that, thus never fathered Penny, thus Desmond never falling for her, thus Des never going around the world, thus Des never ending up on the island. But since the fates of the main characters seemed entwined regardless of the crash and island events, Des in the alt timeline ends up on the plane and connected to the other mains anyway ...
Ow. My head hurts. I love Lost.

How the fudge does Juliet know 'it worked'? Is it really gonna be possible to have characters jumping around the multiverse? Jack definitely seemed to think something was going on in the ATL, but couldn't quite place it. Desmond, is he gonna be the one to bring them all (characters/timelines) back together?

FINALLY!! THEY TOLD US WHERE CLAIRE WAS!! I also find it reeeaaaallly creepy that Ethan was Claire's doctor when Kate took her to the hospital AND that Ethan was the psychotic doctor on the island that almost murdered Charlie! And wat's up with Juliet "telling" Miles that "it worked"?? More questions....but at least we got some answers...

Great to see Claire back again, very curious as to what she's been up to!
What i want to know about the "it worked" thing is what exactly Miles knows now, or if he has a sense of something else going on (the "alternate" timeline). Miles has had this continued confused look since reading Juliet (made even further with Sayid). It makes me think of when you have a dream and you can't quite remember it, it's right on the edge of your mind, but you just can't recall it -- i'm getting the impression that he got a sense of the alt timeline (we heard the plane engine sounds as he read Juliet), but not the specifics. I'm just waiting to see if/when Juliet shows up in the alt timeline -- probably randomly running into Sawyer in LA somehow ...

@'Chu: Oh my goodness yes, the "chains" line was epic. I go nuts for anything with Richard Alpert. By the way, did you notice the expression on his face at seeing the "jacob's dead!" fireworks go off? Utter heartbreak. Nestor Carbonell is a stellar actor.
Theory I have no idea if this is true or not, but I think that smokey is taking over Sayid now. He obviously is going to change bodies, so why not take someone who is more trusted then Locke? BUT... My mom thinks that Jacob is taking Sayid's body now.

I loved it! It got quite emotional in places, Sawyers scene was awesome acting. And the birth? And all the f'd up similarities to island life? Wow! Course correction for the win. My favourite bit was Jack swallowing the pill, ha, I like Jack, on island and off, he's one stubborn mofo.
SPOILERS I loved the scene with Ethan. That was so funny with the needle references. I don't think it will happen, but I think it would be cool if gradually they all started to remember little by little island life and finally they remember everything. But I do think Desmond is going to play an intrical part in bringing the timelines together. END SPOILERS
