Link is the better one. Both tends to keep their mouth shut, but at least Link doesn´t shrug his shoulders. I can feel sympathy for Link, but Cloud was never a favourite character for me. Pretty cool design though.

Hard to say, Link has a buch of odd Weapons a long with his Master Sword also known as the "The Blade of Evil's Bane" and the Triforce of courage, that is a triangular sacred relic that represents the essences of the Golden Goddesses.
Cloud Strife has a buch of Crazy powes, like magic, summons,special abilities.and his Big Buster Sword.
Both Can pull up a Fight, and a long one too.
Link can't not stop Fighting, manly because of his Triforce of courage, Force him to keep going, and Fight anything in his way that stops him from Saving Zelda.
Cloud is a Sad and angry person,that wants nothing more then to see The end of Sephiroth, for Killing Aeris Gainsborough. With nothing to lose, and full of Anger, Cloud will stop at nothing to get what he wants, and he has the power to do it.

Cloud is basically everything ridiculous about JRPG characters rolled in a single package. Link is a dull, lifeless character that gets saved by the quality of the games he stars in.

^ this. However, Toon Link had a bit more personality in Wind Waker (had some great facial expressions). I'd love a Wind Waker sequel on Wii that was less boring, had more combat and more land exploration.

Very much agreed. I love zelda, but link is a very dull character. Toon Link was awesome though. Unlike the usual "Gots to savez Zouda!" thing, he actually had a reason for doing what he was doing. However, I still like Link more, as Cloud is basically the stereotypical emo jrpg character with an overcompensating sword and hair that could tower over Godzilla if he used the right hairspray.
The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.
...Okay, Link. I haven't finished disc 1 of FFVII yet but so far Cloud has not done anything to make me like him. Reminds me of why I like silent protagonists. You can make them out into whatever you want them to be.
