Topic: Is there a good chance of older Wars games being localized?

The Switch is getting remake of GBA Advance Wars 1 and 2, the first two Wars games released in the West. Fire Emblem had the original NES version localized recently and the second game remade on 3DS. But none of the older Wars titles were remade or localized. Do you believe we will eventually see the pre-GBA Wars games outside of Japan either localized or as remakes?

Maybe we'll see them remade someday, but I can't imagine that Nintendo would bother localising such old releases that would not have aged well and would sell in extremely low numbers (and the DS/Wii entries weren't exactly hot sellers back in the day either).

The first Fire Emblem held up surprisingly well, as I got through about 2-3 stages, but I can't see myself ever seeing it to completion, at least not without spoiling the entire game via walkthroughs.

What I wish Nintendo would do is give us remakes with the original ROMs included. For example, I would have loved it if the Link's Awakening remake included the original GB and GBC releases, and likewise for Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow with Let's Go, Pikachu and Let's Go, Eevee etc. The latter would have been problematic as they would have attracted a 12 rating in Europe (though that didn't dissuade Nintendo Europe from releasing the 2DS bundles), but it should not have been a problem for, say, the Australian market, as previously classified games can retain their original classification, and I believe this is also the case with the ESRB.

I would definitely welcome original version bundled with remake version but I can’t see Nintendo actually do it. I played Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and am still waiting for the original GBA version to be released as a download after the virtual console release of the first two gen games. It would be great if the Famicom Wars series get a release in the West, I don’t think they even need to really translate the texts since the gameplay is not that complicated and pretty easy to figure out.

It's all about if there's a market for it. FE is going through a boom right now, so localising an old game makes sense for that franchise. I guess have your fingers crossed the remasters do well and re-ignite interest in the franchise outside Japan.

I think the remaster release will do well. Since the Switch has a huge ownership base it will sell well including to FE fans who were introduced to that series through Awakening. I think they made a lot of Famicom Wars games before Advance Wars so it’s probably unlikely all of them will be re-released.
